We were excited to try a Filipino restaurant in the area on our visit to Niagara Falls. They were accommodating of my wanting a vegetarian meal, which was nice. My husband ordered the combo meal which came with lumpias, rice, soup (if you asked for it, which we did and in the end didn't even receive).
We received a plate of lumpias first before the meal and so we just suspected it was the ones that came with my husbands meal. He ate them, and then while waiting for our dinners, the waitress comes up to us and asks if he ate them. When he said yes, she proceeded to tell us that they were for the table behind us and that they would have to be added to our bill. While we were confused, she even said that the ones we received were different from the ones in the combo.
We received our food, which was good I thought. Even though the lupias in the combo were the same as the ones we received, the only difference being the #. We first received 6, while the combo had 4. Then once she came up to itemize our bill and mentioned the additional lumpias on the bill, I asked, "So even though we didn't order them?" And she said, "Well he ate them." and I stated, "They came with his meal, we thought it was part of the combo that he ordered." She shrugged and said a very awkward "Sorry." We did end up paying for them and at that point had gotten way more lupias than we needed. We had even tried to discuss not adding the additional ones to the combo before we got it but I don't think she understood.
In the end, to not only charge a customer for something that was given to them and then blame them for eating it. Don't get me wrong, if it was a plate of fish or something we clearly didn't order, we would've definitely spoken up when she put it on the table to make sure it went to the correct people. But this was an item that came with our meal, that was given to us by the waitress. It was not our mistake. I felt as though they thought we were liars just trying to get free food.
We would definitely not return and are kind of appalled that this was a "customer was wrong" situation, which could've easily have been a "Sorry, no worries. Our mistake! Looks like you got some free lumpias! chuckle" And then we would've gladly given a big tip or something. But this was really terrible customer service. I really hope future customers don't get...
Read moreI came here on a Friday night when looking for some stuff to eat in Niagara (New York side) which isn't too plentiful with options. THANKFULLY I saw Mami House and was so stoked to try something different than some of the other options around. While I do love my standard American fare, I just was craving something "ethnic" and Mami House fit that bill all the way.
When I came in, it was empty at first but eventually it started to get more business as time went on.
Anyway, the restaurant is spacious (with an upstairs as well), colorful, inviting, cozy and right in the downtown area of Niagara. The staff, our waitress Lerma was super friendly, warm, inviting, attentive and really took care of us. So shout outs to her! Tip her well!
Now for the most important part: The Food. Nothing but high praises from me. Now, I'm not the authority on Filipino food at all so I can't sit here and tell you the quality of where its at compared to Filipinos. I'm also just someone that's very easy to please when it comes to food, I do not have an advanced taste bud so I can eat many things without much issue.
All this to say; the food was SLAMMING for me. The beef, the pork belly, the beef tripe partridge, the leche flan, the pork lumpia just really hit the spot for me. Especially after doing a few miles run, fasting all day and hitting the weights, this was HEAVENLY. And to top it off, the service was just on point. The portions were also very generous with the prices being very reasonable!
If you're in the Niagara area and looking for something different, than you're in for a treat when you visit Mami House! Come do so, don't even think about it!
Verdict: Absolute go

Read moreThis restaurant is really great and I really recommend it! I'd say it's one of the best in the city! I was visiting the falls and staying nearby when I saw this place on the map. I was happy and surprised to see a Filipino restaurant in town! I got the Pancit Palabok and it was so well made. The noodles were well cooked and had a nice soft texture and the sauce was so flavorful. It was a pretty good portion and was filling, and the price was very reasonable, even considering the area. I was craving ice cream and had skipped the shops in the park and in town, and I'm glad I did because their Halo-Halo more than satisfied the craving. They serve it in a nice glass too which I hadn't seen at other Filipino spots. The two servers were very courteous and welcoming. The service was also pretty quick too! It's located at a really close distance from a lot of hotels and isn't far from the park, so if you're staying nearby or even visiting the park from further, it's a pretty easy walk to get here. The restaurant itself looks unassuming from the outside, it's part of the big apartment building, but they have a nice sign out. The inside was surprising. Once you enter from the hallway there's a cute map with pins place by visitors and there are old Filipino posters on the walls everywhere. They have booths, tables and a bar counter. It has two floors, too, which is pretty cool! Very clean too, including the bathrooms. Locals seem to like it here too, which is really nice to see. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone, even if you're not familiar with Filipino food, it's 100%...
