I normally don't post reviews, unless they're really good or really, very bad- as in this case. I saw this place opened last week and being a local here, decided to try it out with my wife. We ordered from the menu, what I thought was going to be great food, but turns out, was very disappointing. The carne asada burrito I ordered, for $10(?) mind you, was nothing more than cheap, greasy, ground beef in a tortilla- that's it! no toppings, cheese, salsa, or anything- just ground beef in a small tortilla and no taste at all. My wife ordered their special- burrito Mexicana- and it was literally the same thing. We didn't get a receipt for the order, so not sure what was charged, but saw that it was much more than what it should have been...and then saw the sign for a "convenience fee" for using a credit card- nice one! Anyway, there are much BETTER places on the beach and over the bridge that have way better food than this. Maybe it was a one off experience considering the other reviews, which I have my doubts about, but time will tell on this place- nothing has lasted more than a year in that...
Read moreTruly terrible experience overall. For starters we order birria tacos and guacamole. The birria tacos were just fried STEAK tacos. Do not be fooled, they promote it as birria and it is not. The consome looked like tomato soup. If you're looking for authentic birria you won't find it here. Second, the "guacamole" is literally a pico de gallo. If you're thinking the mashed up avocados that is not what you will get. And lastly, TERRIBLE service. The guy was so rude when we confronted him. Mind you, my boyfriend is Mexican and I have had my share of authentic Mexican food. The man basically insinuated my boyfriend is stupid. My boyfriend has an authentic birria truck and we were just hoping to get a nice experience on our vacation around here. For a hefty price tag of 20$ for birria and 15$ for guacamole be aware! To be honest; the guacamole is probably pico de gallo from a frozen bag with pieces of chopped up avocado. The guy was so miserable serving us in the...
Read moreWhile in Clearwater we stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant. We went in the middle of the day on a Thursday and it was a one man show, but worth the 10-15 minute wait! You order at the counter and choose a table. I had an egg burrito, el pastor taco and chips and salsa. My friend had a chicken quesadilla and shared the chips and salsa. We originally ordered guacamole and he said his avocados weren’t ripe, I truly appreciate the honesty. I’ve been there myself. Clearwater is coming out of two hurricanes and there has been supply chain challenges. Everything was fresh, flavorful and fun! There are amazing signs and a hopscotch board painted on the floor. We had so much fun reliving our youth playing hopscotch. There is a bell when you leave asking you to ring the bell if you loved the food, we rang it twice! Do yourself a favor and support this family owned local business! I didn’t take photos, I didn’t realize how good it would be until I...
