We arrived on a Friday afternoon to attend an event nearby on Saturday. My husband got us checked in and I joined him with our bag a few minutes later. The lobby was nice, bright, clean and modern looking. The area just off the lobby was the first clue that we should have booked elsewhere. The elevator hallway was in need of a good cleaning then repairs. The elevator took nearly 5 minutes to arrive, when it finally did it was dirty and had a few places where information plates had been pried off the wall. On arrival at our room the key card didn't work so we had to return to the desk to have them reprogrammed. We entered our room and the first thing we encountered was a warped floor, with a few places where the floor tile planks were actually lifted off the floor. Making note that we'd have to pay attention not to trip during the night, , we entered the main part of the suite. The bed was nicely made, but I checked for bedbugs, a lesson I learned several years ago. No bugs, good. The roller blinds were closed, so my husband opened them and was greeted with the left panel of the glass was so steamed and disfigured that it looked like the glass had been painted white. The whole window unit was odd. It looked like the whole original window was remove and another window unit was put in, but it looked like the window wasn't made for that opening. We re-closed the roller shades and went to check out the bathroom. The shower and toilet room is tiny. The vinyl floor planks felt like they weren't even attached to the floor underneath. The door had either been painted so many times that it wouldn't close, or it was warped to the point that it had to be forced to close. The vinyl moldings along the floor were falling off, looking like they were nailed on instead of glues. The moldings weren't cut correctly, adding to the reason they were falling off the wall. The shower itself looked nice, fairly new and clean. The shower control, however, was backward of what it should be and the showerhead supplied little more than a trickle of water. There was an alcove where a little coffee maker, small refrigerator & microwave are provided. It appeared that the microwave had white paint overspray across the front and most of the top. We decided to forgo making popcorn in it. The refrigerator was basically clean, as was the shelf with the coffee maker. After an evening out in Dublin, we returned to the room to sleep. The wall mounted heating unit was easy to operate and warmed the room quickly. Throughout the night, the heater made noise like someone eating potato chips, or something extremely crunchy. All. Night. Long. Waking early & not feeling rested, we just wanted to shower, dress and get to the event that we had travelled to Dublin for. We skipped the breakfast included with the room. In the past, I have stayed at a hotel across the street but I wanted to save a few dollars, so I booked at LaQuinta, where we paid $146 with a senior discount. Next time I'll pay an extra $20-25 and stay somewhere that doesn't feel...
Read moreAbsolutely beautiful hotel inside the rooms and the fitness center and the lobby. But I wish I had not stayed. Art and it's beautiful decor is not enough we are dealing with frustration after frustration. I am a cancer patient and I am in town to see doctors at the James Cancer center. When I arrived to the hotel I was having problems with the app with making my reservation and I informed the woman at the desk of this. Of course she was in her seat and did not greet me she just simply said hmmmm. And then I said do you by chance have a room in a quiet area like on the top floor and she did not respond until ask a question again and I repositioned myself so I could see what she was doing behind the desk and of course she was on her cell phone. I walked away and then another couple came in to check in. I have a hard time putting up with this kind of behavior if I am not welcome then I just feel I should not stay I spent the next 10 minutes debating whether to go to somewhere else that it was so impressive in its appeal that I decided to stay though I clearly did not feel welcome and I truly believe the tone of a stay begins with its initial encounter. Then I was on the elevator to go to the 4th floor in the elevator was absolutely disgusting. The issue I have with this is that although the rest of the hotel is beautiful, and I mean beautiful, why would they think this is permissible. Why would they think this would just be an oversight. While I was on the elevator I wondered what the hell is my room going to look like. And it turned out beautiful. During the 18 hours I was here I left my room three times. One time I was returning from my local restaurant and I could not get into my room because the key did not work. This happened all three times that I left my room I would have to go back and have a programmed. When I was returning from the restaurant I was having side effects because of chemotherapy. And I probably should not have eaten spicy food. When I got to my room on the 4th floor I could not get in. I had to go back downstairs to get the card reprogram and let's just say I did not make it in time. I was most embarrassed and let's just say the pair of pants was thrown away. Congratulations to the interior designers of this hotel. In the end I look back wishing I had kept with my initial gut feeling which was to leave and go stay somewhere else. I would really think this place...

Under the bed was disgusting. All kinds of hair, dirt, trash, and even old rose petals! Was not impressed with the cleanliness of this hotel. The daily stuff was fine, but the big stuff also needs to be on a regular cleaning schedule.
There was a VERY bad smell in my hallway that I'm certain was sewage. It was either coming from another nearby room or a leaking pipe somewhere. It was a continuous smell the entire time during my stay, wafting from under the door. It was worse in the hallway.
There were hairs in between the sheets and in bathroom, assuming from cleaners. Not the first time I've seen that, so I just removed them.
• MAINTENANCE The door had big gaps at top and bottom, so the noise from the hallway was a lot. I expected the interstate noise and didn't have an issue with that. But all night long, there were loud noises from the hallway. I slept terribly, even with foam earplugs in. Elevator was kinda scary, too. Seems like their maintenance people kinda just slap caulk all over stuff and call it a day.
• STAFF Staff was nice; no issues there.
• BREAKFAST Basic high-carb/high-sugar options, like mini muffins, yogurt, and waffles. Limited spread, but not the worst I've seen. I opted to skip their breakfast for the nearby McDonald's, if that tells you anything.
• LIGHT POLLUTION They have very bright lights that shine directly on the back of the hotel, even up high on the top floor. Why aren't they pointed down towards the parking lot? It's terrible for light pollution and they shouldn't be pointed at the windows on the top floor. It looks like daylight even with both curtains drawn.
• BED Bed was fine; sort of a medium to medium soft. Pillows were all very fluffy. Just don't look underneath it...
• OTHER / OVERALL Didn't have any other issues. Would NOT stay here again, though. I booked this hotel for the convenience of being near the interstate with many food options near the zoo. Most of the hotels I've ever stayed in have been Motel 6... This wasn't much different than the worst Motel 6 I've...
