It's not my thing to write negative reviews. I believe that everyone has a different opinion and if you have had an unpleasant experience somewhere, you should not return to the same place. However, in the case of this hotel, it would not be right for me to keep others in the dark about this hotel.

First of all, this hotel's advertisement is misleading. The Gold King Mountain Inn is not the Golden Nugget. The Golden Nugget is a newly opened hotel next to the casino. The Gold King Mountain Inn is located behind and uphill from the newly constructed hotel. It is likely that they advertise as one hotel because they are owned and operated by the same company. There is a huge difference between the two hotels and they offer completely different experiences.

To each his own, marijuana, like writing negative reviews, is not my thing. The Gold King Mountain Inn offers "No Smoking" rooms, however, the entire hotel including my room smelled like skunk. I felt sick from the smell, even inside my room, though the smell may have been compounded by my proximity to the stairwell.

The door to my room would not unlock. The front desk got me into the room, but after I returned from dinner, I stood outside the room for a very long time. I'm not sure why the front desk couldn't help. I informed the evening attendant who had recently come on duty that there was a problem with the door prior to leaving for dinner. I believe they were on the phone, trying to locate someone to assist with the door. I wanted to leave and find another hotel, but all of my belongings were locked in the room. The broken door lock could explain why the window was broken and wide open when we arrived. It might have been necessary for them to climb through it in order to help another guest.

The shower curtain was moldy, and the containers in the shower that hold the shampoo, conditioner and shower gel were all empty. It was disgusting to look at the grout in the bathroom. I'm not sure what was in the grooves in the nightstand, but it certainly didn't belong. The lamp on the nightstand appeared not to have been cleaned in years. I could go on, but I won't.

I encourage everyone to do research before booking this hotel. Always check reviews to understand hotel amenities and services. This can be especially helpful for those looking for a clean...

Checked in. They let us come about an hour early. First room the lock was broken and couldn’t get in. The man working front desk was very nice and apologetic and immediately gave us a new room. While checking in another man who seems to be with maintenance came up to front desk in the middle of us checking in and started talking to the clerk checking us in. He was yelling about the tvs and how customers keep messing with them so they needed to remove one of the adds blah bla h blah. He’s doing this in the middle of the front desk clerk checking in customers. Well we got the new room. Went to turn on the tv and the remote didn’t work. I attempted reprogramming it to the tv still nothing. Went down to get a new remote. I was able to program that one myself to the tv. Go to get in bed and there is a stain on the pillow case blanket and sheets. They weren’t changed. Also the sheet was a size too small for the queen bed so it wouldn’t even stay on the bed. So that was fought with all night. Nasty stained and VERY worn mattress underneath. Gross. Bathtub wasn’t clean and the shower curtain had dirt spots all over and old crusty soap and the bottom that went into the tub was completely pink with mildew. I paid a few dollars short of $200 for ONE night for a nasty ass hotel room?! It was my boyfriends birthday weekend too so that was pretty embarrassing. Would not recommend unless you want to clean your room yourself. The front desk clerk was very nice though and...

Uncomfortably dirty. From the moment we walked in it was clear that this place does not get cleaned properly. I was greeted by someone else’s hair all over the bathroom floor and toilet as well as a “booger like” substance on the side of the toilet. I went to turn on the air immediately because it was stuffy and smelled bad. Right on the front of the air conditioner was a second “booger like” substance matching the toilet. It made me sick to my stomach. From that point it just got worse. The bed didn’t even have on a fitted sheet (I figured this was a requirement.) I guess not because this had just a flat sheet that was smaller than the actually mattress laying on top. It was strange and gave the impression that no one cares about this place. The refrigerator was not cool, but a warm, humid air came from it .None of the food or drinks we brought could go inside it. I could go on and on, but the gist of it is this: This room cost me $180 for one single night and in my opinion “free” would have been too much. It was gross and I didn’t even end up sleeping in the room because I couldn’t shake the feeling that if I could visibly see so much, what about what I couldn’t see? Was I going to leave here sick? It was awful and I don’t even understand how they’re in business.
