We were so excited for this overnight trip to the hotel we spent more money on the room than I think we ever have before on any hotel. Thinking we would be treated with smiling faces and employees happy to see us we were very disappointed to find out we were wrong. To start I called ahead and asked for a bigger room and that was not available so I asked for a roll away bed and they said they had them and the room accommodated one. I also asked if by chance a room should become available please upgrade our room and I will pay the difference. We arrived and they did not have a extra bed it was not noted on my reservation also I would like to include I paid for the room in advance, so I asked for a upgrade and was told it was not possible. Upon getting into our room I called down and asked for extra blankets and pillows for the evening, they brought one pillow and one blanket, so in my $350.00 a night room my children had to sleep on the floor. The following day we went to breakfast were we were greeted by waitresses that looked like someone had shot their dog, no smile not a hello and looks as if we were somewhere we didn't belong very unwelcoming. After breakfast we see one of the same waitresses leaning against the front desk with the same mad face very unpleasant. We entered the saloon only to be greeted with the same unpleasant attitude from a waitress standing again up against the bar while a very nice woman was working and getting our drinks. Not once were we apologized to for the mix up. Not once did they ask how our sleeping arrangements could be improved knowing we did not have enough room. Not once were we offered compensation of any kind. This was such a disappointment, 350.00 may not be a lot of money for some but for us it is and this was a sad display of over all bad manners especially for being in the South and especially for Texans, I know y'all were raised better than this !!!! I would like to add the bartender was very nice that afternoon, the gentleman that was working the front desk early in the morning was very nice and helpful and every valet we met had a smile opened every door and had good suggestions for places...

My husband and I checked into the hotel and the front desk had one very friendly staff member. He gave us our key and we went up to our room. The hotel is decorated wonderfully downstairs, so I had high hopes for what our stay was gonna look like! When we entered the room, I saw two double beds, so we went back downstairs to let them know that we were in the wrong room. The front desk worker let us know that we were not in the wrong room so I showed him my reservation for one king bed. After talking for a minute, he stated that “someone had made a change to the reservation at some point” that had downgraded us from a king bed to two doubles. I asked if there was another room with a king bed or a queen bed that we could take, and he said that the hotel was entirely booked out. When I asked if we had gotten downgraded so that they could charge other guests a higher price to stay in our room, the front desk worker didn’t respond.
ll in all, we’re usually pretty easy, so that wouldn’t have been a dealbreaker, but the bathroom was. The shower drain did not drain and the bathroom smelled like sewage (probably from the plumbing being so old) but that was still manageable. The real problem was the bathroom floor. The floor had a distinct stickiness under our feet so we wiped it down, and it was black. I’ll upload photos of what came up with some rubbing and a dry towel. We put a blanket down and kept shoes on during our stay. Certain parts of the room seemed clean, others, not so much. We slept above the sheets in a double bed and left very disappointed.
Valet was INCREDIBLY kind and helpful. Heads up, if you stay here, valet is mandatory. It’s $28 plus a tip. Otherwise, you have to pay $35 to park overnight and a lot down the street with...

It's for you folks that I gave the four star rating, even though I personally did not last the night. The hotel is what it is.||Noise noise noise:||Hands down the noisest street noise I could ever have imagined, although perhaps the New Orleans French Quarter or Beal Street in Memphis might be comparative or even worse venues.... Unfortunately I had already booked before realizing this factor was present at the Stockyards. So, around 11:30 pm I left for the Town Suites hotel several miles away and for purposes of this review can best be described as QUIET!||I left the other family members sound asleep...wish I could have done that through the seemingly 76 trombones making a racket. Actually, there were no trombones but plenty of boom boxes driving by our front and center window.||I am writing this after returning to the hotel around 6 am. Pretty quiet now! When I left, front desk informed me that the noise would have dissipated around 2 am.||So in conclusion, booker beware. If you have similar noise sensitivity as I do, STEER clear, pun intended. As an aside, there are some other hotels within walking distance, including the Drover. More expensive, also a great location. It looks amazing but I am not sure if it would be quiet enough, I haven't read...
