I love the Maverick and have traveled to shop there many times over the years. Recently I made the 32 Mile drive to purchase an outfit for a special event. The salesperson greeted me and asked me if I needed help. I said I was shopping for a long length dress. She directed me to the area and said let her know if I needed anything. I'm petite and the long dresses were not going to work for me. So I found her and asked her if there were some shorter length dresses or skirts. She suggested I go to the clearance rack and went on to tell me that perhaps I should shop at Marshall's or the Dillard's outlet. I was so shocked I didn't have a response for this statement. I was tempted to leave but knew I would find just the right thing if I looked further. She was helpful and attentive but I was still shocked and completely insulted as I tried to find the right outfit. I did leave with something beautiful, but wearing it this past weekend, my pleasure of the outfit was tainted by the memory of this insult. I would suggest educating the staff about treating everyone equally. To remember this is Texas and everybody should be friendly...

Over the weekend, my wife and I went shopping for my first cowboy hat. I have struggled in the past to find something that fits my head, isn't too tall and generally looks good. I also know nothing about cowboy hats, so I wasn't sure what to look for in terms of quality. I went in another store in the Stockyards, which honestly had an incredible selection. I guess I have expensive taste, though, as the hat I loved in that store was $1,400—WAY out of my budget range.

My wife and I found our way to Maverick Fine Western Wear. When we got to the hat section, Buck greeted us and offered his service. I asked several questions, and he quickly got to work. He knew his selection like the back of his hand, and he quickly popped up the stairs to his inventory and came down with what ended up being the perfect hat for me. Seriously, I could not be happier with my purchase! It was an investment, but the quality is there and it was a fraction of the price of the other hat (not a knock on that one, as the quality was bonkers).

Wisconsin girl here, who was looking for a new hat after an unfortunate tragedy last year with my old one. When I tell you it’s JOSH and KENDALL or no one I mean it!! Kendall won us over with that sweet Texas charm and got me fitted with the perfect hat! She didn’t pressure me to go up in price. She let me lead and supported every choice, she gave me knowledgeable answers to EVERY question! She then connected us with Josh to get the hat shaped and WOW. I was worried at first cause I didn’t know all the specifics of what I was looking for, trust me I didn’t have to worry very long because Josh came in with so much hospitality and kindness. Shaping a hat is no easy task and Josh made it feel easy breezy. He explained the history of the building, the different styles and ways he does things. I can be so indecisive and he didn’t make me feel rushed to make a choice OR yell at me every time I messed up something he did (which I most definitely did do) it was totally awesome.
