My family had a really tough night on Saturday, August 5th. While driving our rental car from Beaver Creek, Co. to the Denver Airport at 12:30am we sadly hit a enormous deer. We were stranded on i70 and had to be towed in a car carrier to the nearest town, Frisco. At the exit we saw the beaming lights of the AC Marriott and thought lets go in and see if we can figure out what we're going to do next. Sebastian was on duty and when we told him what happened he said please take your time and got us two pictures of water and cups. He provided information about a shuttle we could take and where maybe another rental car place was in Silverthorne. After about an hour of calling airlines to re-book flights, car rental companies to see if we could get another vehicle and finally the Summit Shuttle, we asked if we could get a room for a few hours. Our shuttle pick up was that same day but at 2:30pm. By now it was 3:30am and we just needed a place to lay down and try to get past all of this. Sebastian got us a room and told us that he would put a note in our reservation about our circumstances, he said his manager would have to approve his request for a much lower cost for the room but that he would do his best. He was the first of many blessings after such a horrible accident. The room was beautiful, clean, comfortable and everything my family needed. We got some sleep and woke and headed downstairs for breakfast. The server and the breakfast was divine! I'm still thinking about that egg dish, so good. My husband went up to the front desk while we were downstairs and that's when we met James. He was so welcoming and kind. He told us we were all set and that we had a late checkout just to be safe. He had seen the notes and told us they were so happy that we could be a safe haven for us on such a terrible night. He was upbeat and said don't worry we'll take care of you and your family. After another small nap we were headed downstairs to catch up with the summit shuttle and that's when we met Laylayna! She had heard from James about what happened to us and she came over with the kindest face and genuine concern to my daughter and I and wanted to tell us how sorry she was about what happened but wanted us to know that they were honored to be taking care of us and that she hoped we had an uneventful and safe rest of our trip home. The staff at this hotel are amazing, kind, caring and just darn good humans. If you are in the Frisco area and even if you are just close by, stay at the AC Marriot on Summit in Frisco, CO. It will be your best stay ever! Thank you again to everyone at the AC Marriott in Frisco, CO especially Sebastian, James and Laylayna. The...
Read moreFor business and pleasure, I have stayed in dozens and dozens of Marriott properties. Our recent one-night stay (initially scheduled for two nights) at AC Hotel Firsco was one of our worst experiences at a Marriott property.
Here is but a sample of the incompetence shown by the staff: We requested extra bath towels at check-in and at least three times after that. They were never sent to the room. We requested firmer bed pillows at check-in and at least three times after that. They were never sent to the room. I told the front desk three times that the shower temperature was barely warm. I was told maintenance/engineering would fix this. It was never fixed. I asked the front room to ask housekeeping to clean our room yesterday morning while we were out. It was never cleaned. We were never informed that there would be a construction crane and crew literally outside our window. The noise made it impossible for us to relax in our room. Just past 11 AM yesterday, my wife passed a painful kidney stone. We immediately packed to return to Denver so she could see her doctor. Upon informing the front desk and asking if we could have our second night refunded, we were told that the hotel could not do another because the full stay was prepaid and there were no exceptions. This is contrary to what we would told checking in. When we discovered that our deluxe room was facing the highway, we were told we could be moved to a standard king on the other side of the hotel and refunded the difference. Yet, after informing the front desk of my wife’s urgent medical situation, I was told that the hotel could not do anything but advise me to reach Expedia, which, after repeated tries, I never reached a human being to contact the Hotel for a partial refund. I asked to be checked out yesterday. The front desk said I could not be checked out until this morning. I received the final charges, and, besides the second night, we were charged for a second day of parking even though we left yesterday.
I very, very rarely complain. But this stay ranks among the worst we’ve...
Read moreThe Good:
First off, the updates to this place are fantastic. What once was a Best Western looks like a whole new hotel. The renovations are lovely with a great lobby, bar, and outdoor patios with fireplaces. Perfect place to hang out after skiing all day. The outdoor hot tub is great. They also have an indoor pool.
Location is perfect if you're hitting up the i70 ski resorts. Plus, they've set up ski storage in the basement, which was a super convenient touch.
The breakfast is a nice European spread and very tasty, but be prepared to shell out $20 per person. Also, the grab and go burritos are small and leave something to be desired.
The Bad:
Let's talk room storage. It's pretty much non-existent. No dressers or drawers for longer stays it can be a bit of a pain when you're unpacking.
Our room had a potential for an amazing mountain view, but sadly, the window was cloudy, presumably these weren't replaced during the renovation.
And the reason this wasn't a 4-stay stay - we had the worst encounter I've ever had with front desk staff. Very rude and passive-aggressive. Something I don't want to rehash in detail here. But, I will say, the GM, Josh Stuhr, stepped in and really managed the situation well. Kudos to him for handling things professionally and making us feel valued.
Other:
As others have mentioned the sliding glass bathroom door doesn't provide much privacy, so just keep that in mind depending on who you're staying with.
Despite the issues, I want to again emphasize GM Josh's exemplary efforts in turning the situation around. His professionalism and hospitality were the saving grace of our stay.
Wrapping up, the AC Marriott Frisco is a pretty decent bet when visiting the area for a ski trip....
