I am a fairly resourceful human being and I would like to believe that I could survive on my own in a little mountain town. After all, I live in a little mountain town and I do just fine.
So picture it (Golden Girls anyone?) - a busy Saturday morning and the family and I make a stop for refreshments and last minute “nice to haves” before we continue on to our camping destination.
While my love is out at the electric charging station experiencing his own woes in a crowd of other upset travelers experiencing the array of symptoms stemming from “range anxiety” at a recharge station that “regularly goes down” according to a local I am in the store with my two children. Wow. Check that run on sentence. You get the point.
The children and I attempt to gather the items we need - things to be held with our 6 hands and head to the checkout. However, this store makes zero sense - unlike nearly every other Walmart I have been in. The grocery isles are not set up in any way that makes sense or resembles other Walmart locations. Back and forth down isle after isle looking for corned beef hash and orange juice. This took what felt like forever. And yes, I know - corned beef hash is discusting. And so delicious all at the same time. When a camping staple calls your name from a little mountain town grocery you buy it and you eat it over a fire.
Ok - on to the reason why I am ranting on this review. Walmart - if you plan to go plastic bag free - somehow notify your out of towners. I had plenty of things in the car I could have used as bags. A sign on the door is cool. Perhaps an overhead notification on the loud speaker. God knows I spent enough time trying to make sense of the rediculous layout I would have had time to her a loud speaker announcement. Also, when the little bag holders are still at the check out and have no bags - this further compounds the confusion. Remove the holders OR fill them with the replacement plastic reuseable bags. Something. It looks silly empty. Heck, hang a little prize there on the bag racks so when out of towners achieve their goal of search and destroy they get a lolly pop or something.
Finally after one has accepted their destiny at the checkout seeing no bags in sight (2 kids with countless items being carried by tiny hands chasing roll away corned beef hash across the parking lot) the checkout process asked how many bags you used.
EXCUSE ME! Bags are an OPTION?!?! Oh no. Nono. Let the walk of anger begin because I am proudly paying .25 for a bag and I WILL USE IT!
If I can find said bag. After several register searches I found my .25 purchase. I used it. It was glorious.
Walmart - hire a few employees and have them tend the self checkouts like every other Walmart on the planet.
I returned to my love in the parking lot of whom was still experiencing charging station woes and shared my frustration as we watched more “range anxiety” unfold at the...
Read moreI hate all Walmarts. It's not a place I approve of shopping. But out here there are only so many options when you need a car battery.
Since we made the trip out here, we figured we should go ahead and stock up on other things we needed. However, because it's the day after July 4th, they were out of/low on a lot of essentials. I didn't know that was something that could actually happen at a Walmart! They were completely out of eggs, the selection of bacon was pretty picked over and they only had one brand of half and half left.
On top of this, we had very poor service. As I said, the reason we came here was for our car battery that had died while still under warranty. After entering the store the first thing we did was visit the Customer Service desk to ask how to go about the exchange. The woman barely cared and waved us to the back of the store. We picked up the new battery and the rest of the groceries we needed and went to the check out. The woman at the check out didn't seem to understand the whole warranty thing and told us we'd have to take care of it at Customer Service. At customer service they looked at our receipt and said, "Well, she took off for the core." (whatever that is). So we explained the warranty situation AGAIN. The woman who had originally directed us to the back said, "Oh....well...I didn't KNOW that's what you needed to do." We remained pleasant and smiled and told her we mustn't have been very clear. And she said, " No, you weren't." After another five minutes of messing around on the computer and calling an assistant manager we finally got everything taken care of. This is what happens when you don't treat your employees with respect - they don't treat your customers...
Read moreThe pharmacy itself is great. But I just tried their pharmacy delivery through the app. The delivery service is so bad they couldn’t tell me anything about the order. 5mins before the delivery was due the status changed to “delayed”. Leaving me with no time to go pick up my medication. Infuriating process. And completely incompetent service. The first person I could get through to without getting placed on hold suggested cancelling the order with ZERO guidance or explanation. I had to wait for a manager to explain that it’s all third party and they have absolutely no control through the process. I wish they wouldn’t advertise their pharmacy delivery so heavily. Because it’s not dependable and it’s disgustingly expensive. As a disabled person I’m appalled at the disregard for the actual accessibility of the delivery function. Why are you advertising a service that you have zero control over, zero understanding of, and zero accountability for?
The manager on duty, George, can confirm all three. Maybe don’t call it a service but a trial, a program at the beta level that customers can try at their own risk. But get this ad out of my face if you can’t actually deliver. “Professional” and “dependable” my AH. Tell that to my seizure and migraine meds that did not get delivered:)
And the notifications that I never got. It said 5:05 the whole time until 5PM it said “delayed”. But “delayed” means not happening per George the MOD. But that’s just a guess because it’s really the third party that will be in charge.
Really it’s not a...
