I drove from Granby to meet my son in Frisco, who was in town skiing. He suggested a little Chinese place, which sounded great to me. Having just moved to Colorado, I had been craving it with nowhere to scratch the itch.
It was a cold and slushy evening, some of the day's snow having melted. When we entered the restaurant, it was warm and bustling. We were seated very quickly, even though the restaurant was packed. There was lively conversation everywhere and they were very busy.
Someone came to greet us and take our drink order almost immediately. We ordered hot tea, with spring rolls, dumplings, and crab rangoon for appetizers. For our entrees, I had Szechuan beef extra extra spicy, and he had General Tso's chicken. Both came with lightly fried rice.
The appetizers came out very quickly and were hot and fresh. The spring roll was delicious and just what I needed! I did not try his chicken, but my Szechuan beef was really delicious. The meat was tender, the sauce was sticky and spicy just as you want it to be, the level of heat was spot on, and the vegetables were still fresh and crunchy.
But I think the thing I love most about the place is that it's run by a family. They were everywhere all at once. And I loved seeing that. They were very friendly and very attentive. Everyone was smiling. And like I said, the restaurant was buzzing with that energy. Lots of smiles and laughter as I looked around. Such a great dining experience tucked away in this little gem of a restaurant!
I saw a comment that said the place was dirty. That was not my experience at all. There were a lot of dishes, because there were a lot of guests. But they were quick to get them up and out of the way, never missing a beat.
It's a shame that I don't live in Frisco, because I would visit this place often. But I imagine I'll be back. Thanks for a great meal and providing a great visit...
Read moreI have been coming to this restaurant many years. I have slowly seen Many changes. It used to be spotless and very very clean, that has changed. The bathrooms are still clean which is a plus always . We were disappointed that the food has changed. Just did not taste or smell the same. The chicken lo mein had huge chunks of chicken that looked like only dark meat but had a weird flavor. Fried rice had big chunks of egg. The sweet and sour chicken was missing the chicken inside of the batter and this time was kind of oily. We ordered a lot $100 to be exact and we ate a third of that or less. The service was not the same. In the past there was a young man and his wife and what seemed other family members. They used to have their baby son with them while they took care of serving ordering and so Much more. And did an an amazing job. Last night our food came out one plate at a time. And it got cold while we where waiting for everything to come out so we could all eat together. There was a young boy serving us. And looked like he did not want to be there. We had water glasses and pitcher a few plates that I asked him to remove but acted like he didn’t hear. This used to be the best place to eat we would travel an hour just to come here. If we are in the area we may try it again. Because it may have just been a bad night. The people weren’t even as friendly as in the past. By far this was the best place to come and eat. Don’t get cheap with your...
Read moreChina Szechuan is truly a hidden gem among the Chinese restaurants near the ski slopes. My wife and I happened upon it one afternoon and were immediately struck by the lively sound of the staff chatting loudly in Cantonese. We exchanged a glance and knew right away the food would be excellent – and we weren’t wrong.
Our waitress made us feel like old friends by the time our drinks were served. She even joked around with my wife and spoke some Korean, which we found especially sweet. She always remembers us when we come back and even sets us up at our favorite table, #12 in the cozy corner.
One time, after a long road trip, I came in exhausted, just waiting to pick up a to-go order. The owner, noticing how tired I looked, kindly gave me a Red Bull on the house. I’ve only visited a handful of times, but the food has always been fantastic, and the staff are so warm and caring. Even if you’re far from home, China Szechuan makes you feel right at home. I highly...
