Been repaid in full for the problems I had. Thanks for making it right
As someone who works in a ski store and loves my sking, Not happy with these guys, The equipment is fine but old for what they charged and not in great condition. I got demo/high performance skis from this place and the skis I received needed a wax badly, and had some scratches and scrapes on the base. I didn’t care heaps about this as I can wax them myself but I shouldn’t have to. Anyway wear and tear just happens with skis but the person who was adjusting the ski clearly didn’t know what he was doing and had rote learnt what he needed to do and didn’t have much ideas about different options of skis for snow conditions and how to best adjust the equipment properly. he failed to push my boot into the ski many times (something he should be able to do) I ended up giving him tips on how to do it and had to redo the din a few times. However my biggest issue is that later on I unfortunately got injured and hurt my knee meaning I couldn’t walk on my leg and therefore could no longer ski. When I was finally able to return the ski early because I couldn’t use it. They refused to give me a refund for the days I could not use the ski and instead only the days I had left. While I understand they think people might abuse a loose system. They were very inflexible and not understanding that I couldn’t walk to return my ski before the day I did. What makes this worse is that their direct competitor offered all the possible days to a mate of mine who also was injured (equipment not at fault in either case).
As a person who works in a ski store this is bad behaviour by pioneer and I won’t be coming back and neither should you. Go next door seriously. Way more chill and way more understanding. Which I think is incredibly important in a ski and snow store. pioneer likes to stick to their system. You’re not a person to them just a wallet and a number. 1/5...
Read moreThis place was a real bummer. Looked good and in a convenient location in Frisco. But here’s the problem. They messed up the binding setting for a first time adult ski rental. When newbie got to her expensive first time ski lesson in Vail, her foot kept popping out of the bindings. The ski instructor examined and concluded the bindings were set wrong. They tried to correct in the field but was impossible to do without tools.
So at the end of the day and after $274 in lessons pretty much down the drain, we brought the skis back to the shop that evening. When we complained to the manager, he examined the bindings and agreed they were set improperly (by his staff). So he gave us a complimentary card for a 1-day ski rental. That was a positive gesture and although it clearly didn’t compensate for just a really bad first time experience, it went a long way to restoring some confidence in the place.
That was 4 days ago, and we decided to go back today to take advantage of the free 1-day ski rental. When we tried to rent, they said they will not rent us skis because they think they’re over-booked and Spring Break is coming up. Today is Feb 22. Best I can tell Spring Break is several weeks off and we were only looking for a 2-day rental. When I complained and showed them the card signed by the manager for a free rental, they insisted that they would not be able to help us, and we need to go somewhere else.
I gotta say, I am very angry and disappointed with this response. Their motto seems to be, “we give you a really bad first experience, but don’t worry—we’ll make it up by giving you a freebie for later. But we won’t honor it.”
Pretty bad motto and pretty bad equipment rental shop. I will never ever go again, and I’m recommending anyone reading this not use their...
Read moreI went to Pioneer to get a hanger for my derailleur on a Giant YT two (about 10 years old). There was some miscommunication on what the bike mechanic (Jeffery) needed so I brought the bike to him (a second trip). Jeffery did find my hanger and said it would be $60 and he wouldn't give me the part number. I left the store and did some research.
I called Giant in Denver and they had four hangers in stock for $15, but they weren't able to ship it to Summit county. Using the part number that Giant in Denver gave me I was able to find it on Amazon for $12. I was willing to pay up to $30 to get this part, but greedy Jeffery gets nothing.
I'll never step inside Pioneer again!
EDIT - So I went in person 5 days later to explain to a store supervisor about the situation with Jeffery. The supervisor had another "fire" to tend to and stepped away. I waited 5 minutes but was pressed for time. I went to Jeffery and told him that I found the hanger for $15 and said that I feel that you are trying to stick it to me by charging $60. He rambled of a couple of excuses and I had enough, turned around and left.
Not more that 5 seconds after I left the bike mechanic's work space Jeffery's shouts out "You're a DICK!" to me (there are 5 customers in the building). Real professional Jeffery, real professional.
I will give credit to the supervisor, after Jeffery's outburst the supervisor came out and tried to address the problem and...
