Worst dining experience I've ever had. First off, it's obvious this is their first restaurant. Two daughters and son helped with service. They were very polite. The white male attendant (they should let him go). Terrible, service, poor sarcastic attitude, and just poor personality.
My son ordered Beef Penang Curry and I ordered Beef Pad See Ew, very common dishes I've had, and home made many times.
We also ordered an appetizer (crispy tofu). it came out first very dried deep-fried pieces of brown tofu with some sort of duck sauce on the side. No veggies, no trimming, no nothing... 30 seconds later, Penang Curry. Wasn't the worst I've had but beef was odd looking (probably too much baking soda), and curry was runny and very sweet. We had to wait another 15 minutes for my Pad See Ew to come out. It was obvious they had forgotten about it. It looked and smelled good. But after I took a bite of the broccoli, I could not eat it. It was too salty and inedible. My son agreed, we returned it. I said that it smelled good but was too salty. But then they sent it back 5 mins later, but it was the same exact plate with no change. I turned around and said "this is the same dish” it was then that the woman (cook / owner / mother) came out and rudely with a tiger mom voice replied that she didn't agree with me!
We asked for the check and left immediately.
BTW - The white male attendant asked me if I've been to Thailand, I replied "no." He replied, "Maybe you should!"
I've one time had a small kaffir lime tree in my back yard and made Penang, red and green curries from scratch many times. My Thai friend who owned a famous Thai restaurant in NYC competed against Bobby Flay in Iron Chef. So yeah, I will visit Thailand (and Vietnam...
Read moreHorrible experience at Summit Thai, we’ve waited for over 40min to just get a table which was ok but the waitress’s attitude is just intolerable! We told her a few times that we have 4 people and she put 2 anyway, and when it’s our turn to get seated, she is trying to put someone else in front of us (who joined the waiting list later than us). We waved trying to order food for like 10 times and been ignored the whole time, they just pretend not seeing you. Then we finally ordered…. 2 of our dishes were wrong and they insisted it is what it is. We literally ordered 2 pad kee mao just with different proteins (beef and shrimp) and they tasted nothing alike!!! After all of this mess, Resturant automatically added 20% gratitude on our bill, which we of course disagreed and asked their manager over to talk about it. Their manager is even worse!!! She refused to communicate and didn’t even bother hear what happened exactly and called police saying we refused to pay bills, Hahaha what a JOKE! we waited for like another 30min until the police got there and explained our situation, paid the bill and left. What a waste of time! Never received any Restaurant services like this ever in my life, DO NOT go to this restaurant if you have other options, there are so many good ones out there with so much better services and they actually respect and value customers,...
Read moreAs Ann Ainsworth shared in a review 3 weeks ago, we too were stunned that 1 was so spicy. I and my wife found the Chicken Noodle soup we ordered for our 11 year old son too spicy, he is half Indian from my side and I can assure you no Indian kid can tolerate that much spice, we had requested medium spicy and were told it would be 1 as it is normally 0. We also got the same response as Ann that they would charge us for a replacement and the waitress (who wore glasses and looked asian) told me that my Beef Noodle soup was 0 spicy and it had a decent kick/spice to it. I asked her if a guest wanted no spice (as in chili) what number would they mention, suggesting perhaps -1?! She just proceeded to raise her voice and stated… “you don’t get it, this is going nowhere”. Surprisingly in our case she said that the restaurant offered only 2 spice levels, 0 and 1, with 0 being the spice I tasted in my Beef Noodle Soup. In hindsight should have seen this coming when I asked for Jalapeños and she quipped “we don't have that, this is a Thai Restaurant”, the first half of that sentence should have sufficed despite the fact that many Thai and Vietnamese restaurants serve Jalapeños. To top it 18% gratuity was already added to the check, not sure if they do it normally as we have seen it in some places here, or if it was a result of my expressing indignation at what...
