This was our first stay at The Gillette Motel, but we will be staying there again when in Gatlinburg. We got a remodeled room (108) and it was beautifully decorated. I loved the two different wallpapers. It was good to see that there was no carpet but wood floors. The bed had updated linens on it and was very comfortable. The bathroom was awesome and made me want to redo mine like that. The lighted mirror was a great update with a defogger on it. They thought of everything, there was also a seat available for those who needed one for taking a shower. There was body wash, shampoo, and conditioner in the shower. The tile used in the bathroom was gorgeous and went well with the wallpaper. The sleeping area was beautifully decorated with the color scheme. The room included a leather couch which is better than a fabric one and easier to clean. The large TV was mounted to the wall which left a lot of room on the tiled countertop. The microwave and mini fridge was in a wooden cabinet with a tiled top. The curtains didn’t go all the way to the floor which is good to avoid dust and dirt. I loved that there was no big A/C and heating unit in the room but a ventless unit. I didn’t need cleaning service but Ms. Jennifer made sure that I got some extra towels and coffee. She was really nice and friendly. I would recommend The Gillette Motel to anyone who want to be close to the strip but not right on the strip. Another plus for this location is that the fire department located right next door. Thanks for a great stay and rate....
Read moreI have been to this motel several times. Usually I would say it’s great, close to town, parking included and cheap. Unfortunately this last visit was anything but great. Upon arrival, I checked the bed, like I do with all hotels I stay at Incase of bed bugs. Unfortunately I found one. I understand that this is bound to happen at some point, I’m not upset that it happened since I caught it before I slept in the bed. What I am upset about is how management handled the situation. First off I was treated with doubt that it was a bed bug, despite the employee never going up to check if it was or not. Unfortunately for me, it was also a holiday weekend, which means no other rooms were available for the weekend. The only other option I was given was a two queen bedroom for one night instead of the three that I needed, but I was going to be charged a higher rate now since the two queens costs more than the king. After that I decided it was best to just walk out. Unfortunately management handled this situation very poorly, and I felt cast to the wind on the late Friday night. If you would have asked me prior to this visit if I would recommend this motel I would have said yes. But due to managements poor handling of the situation I can’t recommend anyone stay here, they’ve officially...
Read moreWe chose The Gillette based on all of the wonderful google reviews. As the reviews stated, it is older but well-kept. We found the room and bathroom clean, although, the towels and sheets were very rough and smelled strongly of bleach. Our disappointment came when we were given a room directly above rooms that were being renovated. The renovation is in the jackhammer and pounding stage. We thought it odd that we were given that room when the motel was clearly at 25% capacity at best. We were not given one of the newer rooms. However, it was a Friday afternoon so we figured once 5 o'clock hit it would be over. And it was, for Friday.
Imagine our surprise, when trying to sleep in after a long day of driving previous we were woken to the sound of a jackhammer at 8 a.m. Saturday morning. The pounding didn't begin until 8:30 a.m. To say we were frustrated is an understatement. We paid for a room so that we could rest and they did not hold up their end of the bargain. I asked at the front desk later that afternoon if the workers were going to return on Sunday and were assured they were not. I was then asked, "Did they wake you up?" Well, yes ma'am they did.
I understand they are family owned and operated and are doing their best, bless their hearts, but our stay...
