The low rating is based on customer service, which is the most important part of any business interaction for me. We were the only customers in the store and they were literally just standing around, so I know the lack of customer service was not based on the fact that they were preoccupied. We were not greeted when we walked in. We looked around the whole store, commenting on many things, and not a single person working in the store said one single word to us the whole time. We were never asked if we could be helped. Finally when we decided what we wanted, checking out was done at the bare minimum of civility on their part. They barely even made eye contact. Finally, I asked where the closest place was that we could get coffee & we were told they didn't know. Really? You don't know? You work here every day, and you don't know where you can get some coffee near here? Finally, they suggested McDonald's. Meanwhile, when we left we saw other people with Starbucks cups, and they kindly pointed us in the direction of Starbucks which was just 1 block away.
They get 2 stars because the assorted chocolates we got were great and the white chocolate covered oreos were probably the best I've ever had. The buckeyes, however, were not at all good. They didn't even taste like buckeyes, which I am very familiar with and have made with my own hands many times. The filling did not taste a bit like peanut butter. It looked like peanut butter, but tasted like something entirely different. Weird, I know.
They would've gotten 4 stars if they had put in even the least bit of effort to be courteous. But they didn't. Bummer. We won't be back & I won't...
Read moreWell, went back 2/12/25. Specifically asked the woman 3 times if centers in pecan logs were white and cherry nougat. She assured me 3 times they were. Told her what happened last year with caramel centers. Once again...white centers. She flat out lied! Caramel again. And old! Figured marshmallows would be hard as rocks in rocky road but could live with that. $48 and change shot up a wild hogs.....well, you know! Lol! (2/12/24) We grew up in Knoxville and had a cabin in Gatlinburg when kids and spent lots of time in Gatlinburg. Ole Smoky was our favorite place. Visit now for a week every year. We were there all week last week. Couldn't wait to get rocky road candy and pecan logs with white centers and cherries. Bought 2 pecan logs and a couple of boxes of rocky road candy. Disappointed with both. Could barely even cut pecan logs. Caramel on outside too hard, with CARAMEL centers, and marshmallows in rocky road like eating rocks. Bought our last candy there. Time to find a new place next trip. Taffy machine was down too. This definitely is the last time. Guess they know you're traveling and they don't care what...
Read moreMy family and I visited this store last week while walking in downtown gatlinburg. The staff were very friendly and we're super helpful. The items were very reasonably priced and were awesome. My son wanted a little of everything in the store so we bought him a sampler candy box for kids that was prepackaged for $6.50 and it was well worth it! It came with a pack of gummy bears, sour gummy bears, a big selection of taffy, a lollipop, and a homemade chocolate bear. I, myself, bought a caramel apple with peanuts for $2.99 (the cheapest price I have found so far!). It was delicious! Also, they have their fudge at $12.99 per pound! I wish I would've known theirs was so cheap before I paid $19.99 a pound at the old mill candy factory in pigeon forge. The other candy was very cheap. I highly recommend for people who don't like to spend a whole lot of money, but get great quality! Make this place a must go to on your next visit...
