Completely honest review. I originally booked through a 3rd party. When I got to the hotel they didn't have my reservation. However, the night manager and clerk worked on it and got me the same room at the same rate, which was great. Both of them were very very friendly. The room was phenomenal. It was super clean and the beds and pillows were great! Breakfast was also very good! Pancakes, sausage, eggs, cereal, yogurt... there was a great variety to choose from. The ONLY complaint I have is the $15 a day charge that IHG charges that isn't discussed on check in. I had to go ask the front desk clerk what that charge was for because I had 3 different charges from Holiday Inn on my bank statement. I was told the $15 a day is to pay for maintenance, sharing the parking lot with the hotel next door, using the pool, etc. I've never seen a hotel charge separately for those things. They are always included in the price. That is the only complaint that I have. Other than that I had a great experience.
*Edit: Again, my stay at this hotel was great. However, they have a hold on my account for almost $60 that has still not been taken off of my card and shouldn't be. I've already spoken to the manager regarding the situation and he informed me that he voided the charge but it is still being held. This is a week after my stay and my bank told me they placed a hold on my account for a month (until Feb. 22nd, 2025). Why they would need to place a hold on my account for a month is beyond me.
**2nd Edit: It has now been 19 days since my card was charged $60 for a "hold" that was placed on my account. I have left multiple messages for management to get back in touch with me regarding this issue and have yet to receive a call back. I'm going to give it til Wednesday of this upcoming week (3 more days) and if I haven't heard back from management I will dispute the charge of the stay with my bank for the amount of the hold still placed on my account. I was a VERY good guest at this hotel even when faced with the dilemma I had checking in. I even cleaned up my own room before I left. This is completely unacceptable as I have NEVER stayed at a hotel that kept a hold on my account for this long; especially when I was told by the manager almost 20 days ago that the charge would clear off my account...
Read moreFinding a place to stay in Gatlinburg is hard... so many choices. Let me help. I am a student pastor and take my students to many church camps and accommodations can be tricky sometimes. Some are great, some... not so much. I was very impressed with Holiday Inn Express in Gatlinburg. Let me explain: First, Robert and Blake did a great job at the front desk. Upon arrival, there was several hundred teens and their pastors checking in for the winter camp(ok, maybe not several hundred, but it seemed like several hundred ). There were also small children and parents there for a dance recital(or the like) in Gatlinburg. Robert had everything under control. He was checking people in like he was flipping pancakes... quick, courteous and friendly. Never got ruffled or agitated. He handled the mad rush with class. It was obvious he had done this before. Earlier in the day, I had called and spoke to him and he was able to clear up an error in my reservation and assist me in getting all my students on the same floor, which make it a great deal easier to supervise them. The next morning we had BREAKFAST. I got our students up and went to breakfast. The breakfast is Awesome. Hot omelets, bacon and sausage, biscuits and gravy. Cereal, oatmeal, fruit and cinnamon rolls too, just to name a few. I met Amanda. I think she was in charge of breakfast(she probably should be in charge of lunch and dinner too, but they don't offer that). She was so nice and her and her staff kept the breakfast bar full while all the students ate. Five stars for the breakfast!!(PS-I love a good breakfast-notice the pancake analogy above- and this one was good). Unfortunately, bad weather threatened Gatlinburg and due to the long drive back to Georgia we had to leave early. Blake at the front desk was a great help in getting my account settled and my credit card refunded for the unused nights. In addition, the rooms were clean and parking was great, even with all the people at the hotel. You can't beat the location either, a 5-minute walk to the Convention Center( if you walk slow). Give this place a try. I liked it. I...
Read moreWe stayed only for a few days on a quick vacation. It is within walking distance to many of the downtown attractions and is in a great location. I honestly didn't hear a lot of downtown traffic or noise but it was still very close. It had some great views of the smokey and the Gatlinburg skybridge. Here are a few things I do want to address.
The pool/water park was cute and useful. My daughter loved the pool and we felt comfortable letting her run around the water park. It was small but very fun. HOWEVER the green tube waterslide....parents beware....is very dangerous. My daughter (along with many others I saw) hit her head while going down. Please be safe if you go down it. My husband even said it was a hazard.
The breakfast was great! Many options space to enjoy it. Everything was laid out nice and easy to see. Great job!
After the first night we ended up having to change rooms because our bathroom was leaking to the room below us. ( No fault of ours it was leaking in the wall) But the hotel made it easy to switch. Unfortunately they didn't offer anything to accommodate us for the inconvenience (I wasn't looking for anything but it would have been nice to offer a something) the staff was very nice about the whole room change too.
Upon changing rooms the next night we had to listen someone yelling and running down the hallway screaming at 4 am. (Again not the hotels fault but it shouldn't have happened) We ended up having contact the front desk several times because the individual was screaming and banging on walls for 2 hrs. My daughter was terrified and refused to go back to sleep. The hotel ended up getting them to leave but it was very uncomfortable. We were exhausted for that days adventure. We had tickets for several museums and a long dinner show.
All in all the hotel was great and the staff was nice. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Views were great. We...
