Reservation:|Booked "City View King". You get a direct view of the buildings across the street, but you still have a great view of the mountains if you step outside onto the balcony. ||They offer an upgrade for a "Mountain View King" for an extra $40 per night. This gives you a direct view of the mountains. Did not take the offer.|I booked directly through the hotel's website and it was easy to use and was the cheapest option.||Hotel:|The staff was great! They kept our luggage as were weren't able to check in yet due to cleaning. Troy made our check-in easy and smooth. Robert made sure we got our car promptly. The cleaning crew tidied up our room and bed daily and made it seem like we were checking in every day. Sorry, I don't remember everybody's name!||There is coffee and tea (only in the morning/late morning) in the lobby daily. | There is freshly made popcorn from 3-5 (?) in the lobby. I really like the filter water dispenser right next to the elevator. We made sure to fill up everything we left the hotel.||The hotel had a gym with a treadmill, elliptical machine, bike, and your typical gym equipment. There was a small pool and some outdoor seating areas that we did not use. ||Room:|The pictures on their website were fairly accurate. The room was much larger than I expected. There is enough room for a sitting area with a couch/coffee table and armchair. There were 1 full bathroom and 1 half bathroom. I had a big enough work desk to do some emergency work while on vacation. There was a decent side fridge and microwave for holding and reheating any leftovers that you may have. ||The only really bad I had to save was the kitchenette sink was really high. Shorter people will find it hard to use. The bathroom shower had a leak which caused low water pressure. The shower curtain bar was broken which made it hard to keep the floor from getting wet. The water pressure is normally a big issue for me but I let it slide this time. :)||The biggest issue was street noise. It travels really well up to the room. Especially motorcycle noise during the middle of the night. This was with the balcony doors closed. I wish the windows/doors were double-paned.||Overall a very nice room!||Location:|I thought the hotel was in a great location. It was very close to the main Waikiki strip. It was a ten-minute walk to the International Market Place. It was about 3 1/2 blocks from the Waikiki Beach Walk and the beach is not that much further. If you plan to go to the beach daily and need to lug stuff with you, it may be better to stay at a hotel that is right on the beach. ||Parking is an issue just like most hotels in the Waikiki area. There is street parking, but the immediate parking spots in front are metered parking and have 2-hour parking (Not 100% about the 2 hours). There is free parking along the canal but is rarely available unless you get back to the hotel early. If you plan to stay out and then come back late; don't even bother looking. You also have to worry about street cleaning and I was told by some locals that they do not ticket; they tow. It was on Monday/Friday between 6:30 am-11:30 am. Do you really want to wake up that early to move your car around plus potentially get your car towed?||There is only valet parking for $45 a night. The valet is available 24/7. Please note the entrance to the hotel driveway is on Ala Wai Blvd. It is right at the corner next to a private entrance and can be easily missed. If you are coming from Lewers Street, you have to make a left turn onto Ala Wai Blvd and then make an immediate U-turn into the driveway. ||There are restaurants and some bars right on the same block down the street. ABC is at the end of the block. You can get some late-night snacks or drinks. ||Excellent location being closed to everything but still keeping some distance.||Final:|I would totally...
Read moreCame here for the first time with my family. We were in the penthouse suite which is pretty huge. After checking in, you’ll have to ride the elevator to the top floor (10th) then follow the Pent house sign to the fire exit stair well where you walk up a set of stairs to 1 of 2 doors that you’ll need your room key for. Once you walk through that door, you’re now on the lanai, but the actual front door is where you’ll have to enter. The top floor is really windy and breezy outside on the lanai and also when the windows are open in the kitchen/dining area. You have the view of the Mauka side and the Ala Wai canal and on the opposite side, you have the view of the other hotels. There are no additional elevators or disable assistance to get to this suite so please plan accordingly. They have a full size kitchen with stove/oven, full sized refrigerator w/ freezer and ice. They have a coffee pot, electric hot water machine, microwave, sink, pots/pans, knives, etc. Literally, an apartment size suite, with 2 bedrooms (king and queen beds) and 2 full fancy looking bathrooms (but doors don’t lock at all, the water pressure isn’t the greatest, and the toilets are like kid sized seats), free washer/dryer machines (dryer was missing the lint cover, and a couch that can convert into a queen sized bed. They have a huge TV in the living room and a huge table w/ chairs in both dining area and out in the lanai. It’s not the cleanest room that I’ve been in, but it’s clean enough and the convenience of being in walking distance to practically any place in Waikiki and/or not far from Ala Moana and comfortable living, is a huge plus. The front door has a door stopper instead of the tradition chain or latch is located at the top of the door. They also have a switch that disables the card key reader and prevents anyone from entering once you’re inside your suite.
They have a cold fresh water machine and freshly popped popcorn w/ mochi crunch in the lobby area. They also have a mediocre gym and small pool on the 1st floor and coin operated laundry room downstairs in the basement. The pool is really small and warm, but with the beach being so close, I’d rather walk to the beach. They don’t have continental breakfast, but have coffee available in both the lobby and in your room.
All the staff here are all super friendly and very helpful. They are all awesome. The driveway is crazy small and you can easily miss the driveway so remember, if you’re coming down on Lewers street to make a left turn into their driveway, you’d literally make a u-turn into their driveway. If you miss the entrance, you’d have to drive around the block to come back around lol. They provide only valet parking or you can park along the Ala Wai canal for free, but pay attention on when you have to move your car for street sweepers to clean or it’ll be tagged and/or towed. If you’re a guest and only have 1 vehicle then...
Read moreI'm writing this review halfway through my 7 day stay in the executive suite here. I come to HI regularly to visit family and this has become my go-to place. Not only are the rooms HUGE with a beutiful moutain view but the location is tucked away in a quiet area with some of the best food hidden food options in Waikiki.
Now, onto my complaints. I've never had a sore word to say about this hotel until this stay.
The Room: While the room itself has been great, every night after 7p the water gets only luke warm at best and water pressure is low. This has happened consistently since I checked in 3 days ago. Maintenance cam mid-day when the water is nice and hot so they could not diagnose the problem. I'm embarrassed enough to be "that guest" who is complaining (I called and complained again today). The evenings this week drop to 68 degrees so the last thing i want is a luke warm water. I get there is so much more important things to complain about in the world - but this is a hotel I am paying for and I would expect the plumbing to be able to support the amount of rooms it feeds (ugh... even having to write this is cringe but IDK how else to get the guest service team's attention).
The fixture and appliances are definitely old - cupboards don't close completely (I stayed in the same room as previously and I felt oddly familiar with all the quirks of the rooms that had never been repaired), chipping paint and scuffs on corners, old toothpaste still on the walls, subtle yellowing of drapes. Basically, just a general feel that everything is old like an apartment you just moved into with a quick turn-over.
The Staff: They are great! So kind. I have had 1 issue with one member of the service team who has be belittling in the way she has spoken to me and also confused me with another guest and the berated me for "losing your keys again!?". When i told her she was mistaken she insisted it was me instead of just completing the request I had originally approached her with. This identify mistake happened after she and I had shared 3 talks previously and I specifically introduced myself to her because I think it hospitable to do. She clearly say skin color, hair style and common issue and made assumptions. She's yet to apologize and I have shared this feedback with her co worker.
okay.... those are my only two complaints. While the hotel has made noticeable upgrades since my last stay my overall impression of the service is that is is declining.
I'll be sure to share an update at the end of my 7 day stay to confirm if things improved. Fingers...
