Hawaii Dive Center — Local services in Honolulu

I’ve never had to leave such a negative review but here goes nothing.

I would highly recommend you avoid this company at all costs.

Initially I booked two dives about a week before I came to Hawaii for $199. This price alone is rather expensive but they were close to my hostel so it seemed the smarter choice. Everything seemed fine until the day before when they called me to switch my initial reservation. This was inconvenient but I tried my best to go with the new time. The excuse they used was the weather was bad. However, other friends in my hostel had no problems diving with other companies at the same time I was supposed to to dive. They also accidentally let slip that I was the only diver so it seemed like they just didn’t want to take me out for on my chosen reservation to save money.

When my new dive time arrived, while I was walking to the dive shop I slipped on a rock and injured my ankle/foot. I called the shop about an hour in advance to let them know but they did not pick up the phone until 30 minutes before my dive time. The guy seemed sympathetic and rescheduled me for the final day of my vacation. This was three days later.

When the final day came around I got a phone call saying that they had to cancel for a second time, and then later on for a third time on the last two dive times I would be able to make before traveling home.

I understand things change but what I do not understand is when I asked about a refund, they simply told me no. They said that they did not refund due to weather changes and that I could take a credit which would be valid for 6 months. I live in Oregon and coming to Hawaii to use a credit is not something I can easily do.

I tried contacting this company no less than 15 times with no response. When I was able to get through at the end of my trip the call rep hung up on me. We continued in what could only be described as a ‘text battle’ when I informed him I would be contacting my credit card company for the payment to be refunded. During that texting he was rude and aggressive.

I understand that of the four canceled times I was responsible for one. However, they were also responsible for three and one of those times were because they simply didn’t want to take me out.

This company has essentially stolen from me and now refuse to even discuss the issue. They canceled on me three times and refused to honor my initial dive time which would have avoided all of this. Oahu had plenty of diving options and most of which are cheaper, do yourself a favor and pick a different one. I would avoid them at all costs and use any other...

Best boating experience on Oahu!!! If it's diving, snorkeling, or just cruising around the beautiful Hawaiian waters Hawaii Dive Center has the perfect boat. Cordelia is an amazing boat with a gorgeous custom built bar in the cabin. I am a boat captain and have worked in the dive industry for several years so when I step foot on a boat so I notice when things don't look right but the owner Aaron and Capt Nicole run a great show! I spent a few weeks on island diving with em almost every day and it was amazing! The boat is well maintained, very clean and comfortable. The service is above and beyond from ownership down to every crew member. Aaron has become a very good friend in my time diving with on the island and I have seen how he treats every guest like a friend extending the Aloha spirit to everyone who comes on the boat. Diving and boating is his passion and it shows in all his hard work and incredible service! Ive had the pleasure of knowing and being friends with Capt. Nicole for years and she is a fantastic captain! Despite still being young, she has tons of experience working around the island and in California. Ive watched her grow her skills and work her way up and is doing a great job running a safe and smooth vessel! She is also a dive instructor so very knowledgable on all the dive sites and waters in the area! Capt Nicole has a great attitude and excitement about the ocean and shares it with all of her guests just like Aaron! As i mentioned and their name implies they focus and are really good at scuba diving and the boat is a great boat for dive to dive off of! It's set up with a custom swim step and tank rack that makes getting in and out of the water a breeze! They really focus on making it a special experience taking smaller numbers and offering a more personal experience for a comparable price to boats that take more people and has far less amenities. The boat has a full head and shower for washing off after being in the water and the bow is a great place to soak up the sun! Even if you're not a diver, they still offer charters for snorkeling, swimming, or just enjoying a beautiful Hawaiian sunset and if Aaron is on board he will make you a great cocktail after water activities. They offer a full bar for and Aaron's Old fashion is on point! So there really aren't enough good things I can say about Hawaii Dive Center. They are the best hands down! I CAN'T WAIT...

The team made me feel safe with their in depth mission briefings and was spot on for executing that plan. You can tell that this was a beyond a passion, but an innate way of life for Aaron. I’ve done a previous boat charter where I did not feel safe with the dive masters, you know the ones who risked safety and only wanted your money.
