My experience at Steak 48 Houston was horrible. First, when my wife and I sat down, the assistant waiter reached across the table to clear the unneeded glasses and saucers from the table. He was not tall enough to reach the dishes so he was leaning on the table to get them. It would have been easier to ask my wife to pass him the dishes. We both asked for house water. The assistant waiter came back with distilled water and poured it for my wife and left. I poured my own water thinking he forgot to pour mine. When he came back, he brought back the house water for me. We didn’t worry about this and didn’t say anything about it because it was a simple mistake that wasn’t worth mentioning at the time. My wife ordered the N.Y strip medium plus. When it came out, I felt it and told the waiter it was medium rare to medium and asked to have it cooked a little longer. He told me we had to cut into the steak first. I told him it was under cooked and the steak doesn’t need to be cut into. Could they just cook it longer? He said no, we had to cut into it to let the chef know why we are sending the steak back. We couldn’t send it back without cutting into it because the chef would “Look at him crazy”. We cut into the steak and big shocker, it was medium rare. The waiter finally took the steak back. It was upsetting because now that the steak was cut into, it wouldn’t be as juicy as it would have been if it was not cut into. When the steak came back, the temperature was correct, but it was cut in half. If the chefs at Steak 48 in Houston don’t know how to cook a steak to a preferred temperature without cutting it in half, that’s concerning. While we were eating our meal, I saw moist towels passed around to the table across from us after they finished their appetizer by our waiter. We ordered the same appetizer, but did not receive the towels. I then saw the waiter pass the towels to another table. I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t say anything about this. When our meal was about over, the waiter told us he would bring us some hot towels. He never brought them. Also, we were not offered anymore water. Both our glasses were empty before our appetizer was eaten and nothing. The waiter said the chef wanted to send us a dessert because of the mess up for the steak, but I refused it because we were full and we was heading back to Florida in the morning. And, frankly totally disappointed me with the waiter and the restaurant and just ready to leave. He brought it any way (which was a nice gesture), but it was a waste of food because we did not eat it (like we said) because we were headed back to Florida. We had a great experience at Steak 48 in Beverly Hills. The experience at Steak 48 in Houston was awful compared to that experience. I could not believe it was the same restaurant. We will not be back to Streak 48 Houston when we come back to visit again in October. My reservation was at...

I have to say, when my wife and I chose to celebrate my birthday here, our expectations were high. I had been told it was "by far the best steakhouse in Houston". Well let's get down to what was good... and what wasn't. First the parking is valet but is very reasonable at just $6. Now granted they drive your vehicle about 100 feet and park it, but still it is a nice touch and not super expensive. The atmosphere is unique with meat cleavers on the walls. The restaurant was clean for sure. Bar downstairs and up... yes upstairs. The inclusion of an elevator to take you up or down is nice but we took the stairs. Once we were sat the service was absolutely amazing. Very attentive wait staff. They were pleasant without being overbearing. Now the food options were great. We both had the blue cheese wedge salad which were very good. We've had better (Perry's steakhouse for example), but they were good. The bread was amazing as well; Oven fresh and warm. The sides that we had were also some of the best we've had. Au gratin potatoes, the Brussel sprouts (with bacon) and the creme brulee corn... outstanding! I can't recommend the creme brulee corn more... it sounds weird, but it is a delight for your taste buds! The deserts were also great. We got the triple layer key lime pie which was phenomenal.

Now on to the bad... did you notice what was NOT included in the good for a steakhouse? Yes... the steaks. So I got the 18oz bone in filet and my wife got the 12oz filet. I ordered medium rare, my wife medium. Her steak arrived medium well to well done. Might as well have made that filet beef jerky. The good thing is they got her a new one immediately and even offered to get me a new steak as well so we weren't eating at different times. The second one was better. My steak that was ordered medium rare was truly more rare. The middle was red and barely warm... I would say "cool, red center". This didn't bother me and I ate it however the way this steak was prepared would have been WAY undercooked for many. The filet was decent, but I can tell you without a doubt I have purchased "prime tenderloin" steaks from HEB and cooked them myself with much better results. More tender, more flavor. Don't get me wrong, the steaks weren't bad, just not what I would expect for steaks that cost over $70 a piece from "the best steakhouse in Houston". Also bad was the music. There were rather large and ugly JBL speakers mounted at the ceiling in the restaurant that I would expect to see more at a bar rather than an upscale steakhouse. The music wasn't loud, but odd selection of music that didn't fit the atmosphere at all. Like current top 40 music... just didn't fit. The drinks were good, overpriced, but good. All in all the service made the experience. I am not sure I would ever go there again however. I would rather go to Avenida Brazil, Fogo, Perry's etc and spend less and get...

Steak 48....hmmm where to start?....I'll start with a little background about the restaurant and then go into my review. The creators of this restaurant Jeffrey and Michael Mastro are also the owners of Masto's in Beverly Hills, CA which my sister and I went to last year and loved!....So I wanted to do a head to head between the two restaurants to see which is better.

As my starter drink😄, I had the Blackberry Burboun. It was a good mixed drink and a heavy pour with a large size glass. Let just say I normally have more than one drink, but the one was enough🤣.

Next, my awesome server Matthew(Matt) brought out the bread. The bread was half Garlic Herb, and the other half was Sea Salt butter, very good, very hot, and very flavorful! For an appetizer, I had the Crispy Shrimp.......THIS WAS AMAZING!!...Think of BangBang Shrimp but 10 times better flavor. I did have the small, which is more than enough for one person, but if it's more than one, please get the large. You will thank me later....lol....I regret not taking any home. For the main and side, I picked the Iberico Pork Chops and the Double Baked Potato... The pork chops were very succulent and very generous with the portion size. The Double Baked Potato.......so so very good, however, I would like to suggest a small modification. Please consider replacing the shaved black truffle that is on top with a semi-thick pork belly. This would give this dish some needed salt. I believe the truffle flavor on the inside was tasty, but the truffles on the outside did not add much flavor. By the way.....I LOVE BLACK Truffles.....but the pork belly would elevate this dish, in my opinion.

Lastly, I had the Key Lime pie.....mmmmmmhhhhmmmm! I've had many key lime pies and they just keep getting better and better....This was delicious, and I'm sure this restaurant is aware that this dessert it good...lol...I was only able to have a bite, but later tonight im sure I'll finish it off. Again, if you are considering this restaur, nt be mindful that the portions sizes are generous, and the price is comparable to other steak houses in the area. In fact, this is probably lowest I've spent at any steak restaurant.

To wrap up by say the highlight of this night would be the service and because of this I would have to say this restaurant topped Masto's. The server, Matt treated me as if we were friends and he had just welcomed me into his home. I really appreciated that. The other servers also took very good care of me by brining me a hot towel, consistently refilling my water, and by clearing my plates. Service here is top tier. When I return I think I'm going to Prime Steakhouse Meatloaf.....I'm looking forward to it.

Restaurant Rating: 91 out of 100 (A-)
