Golden Eagle Inn — Hotel in Jackson

This was my second time staying here. At about 6pm I decided to do a quick exercise routine. Was doing jumping jacks for no less than 1 min 30 sec (I was timing myself) when my room phone rang with a very rude "you DO know other people are staying here don't you?!". I know it was making noise. But it was going to be about 2 min tops. I was shocked at the rudeness and didn't think to ask who it was. Whoever it was was able to figure out how to make the room to room call and what my room number was in less than 2 minutes, which made me think it was either the staff here, or a seasoned room troller staying here, maybe a friend of the staff.

Anyways it left a bad taste in my mouth and I didn't feel very comfortable or welcome here. Seriously, were I in a family with kids, or if is had my wife there it would have been much louder. And I think I had the right to make a little noise for less than five minutes being that I paid for this room. This may have not been the staff here's fault but I will not be staying here again.

Also, yes, the shower squeals and the WIFI...

This was a nice place. (Nicer than most high end hotels) from the outside it looked like one of those motels in crime movies but oh man, it was nice inside. Matthew who was at the desk was extra nice. The room was clean, HUGE, and good vibes. If I could make it a 4.5, I would. Now, why wasn't it a 5?

1. the parking lot was fair sized but had no parking strips. Some cars hogged the spaces when I could have pulled up to my door but couldn't.
2. the ac is in a weird position. The air blows through the bathroom room into the bedroom.
3. the toilet is seated low so if you have bad knees, bring a cane. The handle jiggled and when I told Matthew about it before I left, I saw him go to check it out right away. Now thats service.
4. the shower head pressure was nice but it was about just over 5 feet tall. Im 6 feet tall. Will post pics later when. Better reception.
5. wifi speed was subpar....

Golden Eagle Inn is a no frills, nice, quiet, friendly place to stay. Our room was clean and had plenty of space. The bathroom area had the sink separate from the shower and toilet which I appreciate. It’s within walking distance of the downtown area. My sister had issues with connecting to the wireless and the owner was happy to help us out with that. We didn’t have air conditioning the first night because the window unit although plugged in had a light switch next to it that had been turned off. We had been traveling all day, were exhausted, so I probably would have caught on sooner to the light switch being the issue if I hadn’t been so tired. I wanted to mention this in case anyone else had the same issue! I checked with the owner the next morning and she knew right away it was the switch. It was no problem after that.
