Not our first trip to Hand Fire Pizza as we are locals in Star Valley, good for a little over an hour of driving. Visited today to celebrate our 17-year oldās birthday. Tried to use the call ahead seating function since they opened today and while driving up. No wait, wouldnāt let us sign in for the visit. We get there and a wait. My wife inquires about the waitlist with the receptionist to no satisfaction. Put on the list. To add insult to injury, the receptionist intentionally and immediately seats a walk-in party that arrived after us, ahead of us. Totally done on purpose like I didnāt notice. The wife made the observation that this female enjoyed exercising her āauthoritieā on us since we inquired about the lack of utility of the call ahead seating option. This was not the way to start a birthday celebration meal. Bianca, our server, was a joy. It looked like she might have been the only server on duty, but boy she always had a smile and was the most helpful young lady for our visit. We tried a different menu item this trip, the Prosciutts Brah. This is the best pizza that weāve had on their menu thus far. Delicious. Always enjoy watching the staff make pizzas back by the ovens. Todayās pizza maker, a striking young lady, took great pride in her craft and the taste of her products spoke for itself. A presumed manager came to check on our meal while we were gathering to leave and I so wanted to give him an earful about the receptionist, but the wife asked me not to spoil the birthday celebration meal for my little girl. If I see this person again at the reception desk on our next visit, I will find it difficult not to turn around...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnlike the reviews my group and I had the worst experience ever at Hand Fire Pizza. Not sure why the rating is so high as the food and service was below average. Our server walked by our table which was closest to the bar a dozen times and didn't fill our drinks till we asked. The food took 40 min to come out and came out dry. The communication from the server was the worst and he did not communicate how big sizes were as well as the prices. Our pizza was so dry it needed ranch, but this pizza place does not have it. So we asked for boq instead since the boq chicken pizza seemed to have none of it. Instead of bringing out a side of bbq sauce for each of us, they brought out 6 bowls of cold bbq sauce from the freezer that didn't taste like your average sauce. The sauces brought out were enough for 50 people but the server didn't communicate how big they were and decided to charge us for each one, when we didn't need that much at all. We then waited a long while for the bill and noticed all the extra charges for sauces. I then asked politely for the sauces to be removed and the server was hesitant. Finally the owner visited our table and instead of saying "I'll take care of that" after mentioning our bad service and food, he responded rudely. The least he could do was take it off the bill as we still spent $100 at the restaurant. After a smart Alec response and attitude he adjusted the bill and we left. Never would recommend to my worse enemy. Hope it helps, and the pizza spot on Broadway is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJackson Hole's downtown district has many shops and a few attractions to explore. We came across a pizza joint that was built into what used to be the Teton Theater. Immediately intrigued, we just had to check it out. Other places in town were at least a 30 minute wait during lunch time, and we thought we had lucked out when we found there was no wait, and few customers inside. We should have taken this a a clue. Due to the pandemic or more likely just laziness, a trend in this area's restaurants is the use of QR codes taped to every table instead of giving out physical menus. When we asked for a menu, the waitress acted like it was a huge imposition to give us a few lousy pieces of paper. Every interaction with her was the same after that. Fine, we were there for the pizza anyway, so let's move on. The dough was too thick, or it was not stretched out enough, it simply did not have a good mouth feel. There was not enough sauce, and all the toppings were overcooked, which yields an extremely dry pizza. Like most restaurants in the area, the food here is overpriced, since tourists are easy marks. Overall an unpleasant experience, but tragically, it could have been so...
