The Cloudveil in Jackson Hole was above and beyond our expectations. We stay at Marriott properties frequently and we have never received service like we did this past week.
We stayed at the Cloudveil from December 26th through January 2nd. Prior to arriving, we reached out to the Concierge Oana who sent us information about the activities and dining in Jackson Hole. This was a huge help in planning our stay. We went ahead and made reservations for dinners and activities on our own but the Concierge did make arrangements for a car service for us to get to and from the airport.
We arrived at the hotel and were quickly checked in and given information about the hotel activities and services and then, Ben from the Bell Room team took us along with our luggage to our room. This is the first time besides staying at an all inclusive property and having a butler service that someone took the time to show us everything in our room from how the fireplace worked to the Nespresso machine to the robes and slippers in the closet along with the safe and the refrigerator. He also offered information about the car service which will take you within 2 miles of the hotel and recommendations on restaurants, activities and nightlife in the area.
Our room was beautiful and comfortable. The attention to detail was amazing. There was not one thing the Cloudveil didn't think of when designing these rooms. The beds were comfortable and the pillows offered just the right amount of support. The amount of storage was great and even the simple details like the leather magazine rack, swivel chair with a view of the mountains, dining table and seating area were so nice.
The bathrooms were very clean and offered shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, bar soap and hand cream. It is so nice when you do not have to bring this items with you. I do have one minor complaint and it is that the water could be hotter. It was warm and comfortable but not as hot as I normally like the water temperature.
I loved that the hotel offered activities in the lobby each night from a one man band, pop up shops, wine offerings and tequila tastings. Their was something going on each night and it was such a great place to sit back and relax after a day of outdoor activities.
One other thing that I loved was that each floor had a service area with 5 different types of trail mix, hot chocolate and tea along with cold beverages. Most hotels charge an amenity fee and you never really feel like you are getting anything for that fee but the Cloudveil offers so many things that make the fee worth while.
The highlight of our week was New Year's Eve. You could view the fireworks and the Torchlight parade from the rooftop deck and they served hot chocolate with marshmallows and schnapps if you were inclined! They had the firepits and heat lamps going and it just made for a great atmosphere to share the New Year with the staff and fellow guests. BUT, the morning of, I had this idea to do something special for my husband. We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary earlier in the month and I thought it would be nice to do something to celebrate our 25th New Year together. I snuck down to the Concierge desk and spoke to Victoria and asked her is it was possible to set up drinks by one of the heat lamps to surprise my husband around 6:30 pm. She was so excited to help and I pretty much left it in her hands. I really had no idea if she would come through or not but boy did she!! We got up to the rooftop and Pablo Migoya, Bruce Grosbety and their team were up there getting ready for the night and they walked us over to a sofa covered in a blanket under a heat lamp with an amazing view of the mountain. They set up a table in front of the sofa with a bottle of Pinot Noir from Jackson Hole Winery along with Coors Light in an ice bucket with wine & beer glasses & Cloudveil snacks. It was beautiful!!

Read moreSuch a great property. This was only my second time visiting Jackson Hole but first time staying in the town of Jackson vs. on the resort. This hotel made that trip to the resort each day worth it and then some!||LOCATION|Ideal, even for a goal of skiing/snowboarding at Jackson Hole each day, as it is right in downtown Jackson. It takes about 20 minutes to reach the area from the airport, and about 20 minutes to get to JHMR. Since the hotel provides three free shuttles in the morning and three more in the afternoon, you should never be without a convenient time to get to the resort in comfort. The shuttle is quite reliable, and I'd rather have the convenience of downtown Jackson steps away vs. a car ride and a potentially difficult task finding parking in the evenings by staying on the resort.||SERVICE|In addition to the shuttle, the hotel provides complimentary usage of Black Tie Ski Rentals, which allows you to stow any gear in the theater (right next to Bridger Gondola) at any time, even overnight. Bring your board or skis on the shuttle your first day, then leave them with Black Tie overnight for morning pickup. A nice luxury at no charge. In the hotel, service was excellent as you'd expect from an Autograph property. The restaurant met this expectation along with front desk staff as well.||AMENITIES|The pool, while heated, is not something I used with temps in the teens, but the hot tub is large enough for probably 8 people and is a constant 103 even with bitter cold ambient air temps. The hotel provides robes, slippers, and of course towels. On each floor, you'll find a filtered water tap with complimentary snacks, bagged tea, cups, etc. I assume they do this in lieu of a lounge, which makes sense considering the hotel is only 5 floors. Although I'm a fitness nut and always look for quality hotel facilities, on a snowboarding trip I didn't plan to do anything but some recovery stretching. The fitness area at Cloudveil is great - tons of equipment by hotel standards, and a video screen that ties into the Peloton system for video workouts. I've never seen that in a hotel gym before. Great perk.||ROOMS|Excellent, even at the basic level. I had a king with no specially reserved view, and my room looked out upon Snow King. The bathroom is huge with a giant shower. Everything is appointed elegantly with a mountain theme, of course. Plenty of charging options for electronics, and a decent area for luggage and clothes. The fireplace is a cool feature for each room, but as others have noted, I only turned it on once, as it immediately baked the room into the high 70s within a few minutes and I had to open windows as this was unexpected. There's not much of a point to such a nice room amenity if you truly can't use it.||Overall, this is a tremendous property and expect to pay for it handsomely during the ski season (and I imagine every other season as well). I used Bonvoy points for my stay but you could easily see rates at $800/night, which is truly ridiculous, but hey, it's...
Read moreExtraordinary spacial relationships and architectural materials use. My husband Tim Whitehouse, who owns Arris Timber Works in Northern Colorado, was very pleasantly surprised to find the bark/cork board used for accents in the hallways, as well as the aspen saplings that defined/divided spaces. The ongoing video feeds of the local wildlife at the end of each hallway were very entertaining...especially first thing in the morning. Very fun and expansive lobby (although the furry chairs were a bit weird). I spent some time enjoying your book selections.
We particularly enjoyed the lighting within the room itself. Dimmable was the key. Although we are never a fan of beige/grey/black/white color schemes, this palette works well with the occasional splashes of color in the upholstery. Loved the breakfast nook and retro chair. And let's not forget the fireplace at the foot of the bed.
Very attractive pools with ADA assist chair (GREAT IDEA). Might I suggest allowing access earlier in the morning, say 6am, for those of us that prefer solitude in the early a.m. Loved the open walkway connecting the two buildings on the 2nd floor, as this allowed for meet-and-greets with other guests, all while enjoying the mountain views. However, another suggestion would be to use fairly open hardscape screening, at least for the lower courses on both the 1st and 2nd floor outdoor seating and pool areas. Partially blocking some of the Wyoming wind would be helpful, particularly for guests enjoying the pools, without compromising the mountain view.
As for the beverage service options...WONDERFUL! Having Le Croix available 24-7 was a huge plus for me, as most carbonated beverages are over-flavored and over-sweetened. The dry goods self-serve bars on each floor were fun too. Great idea to simply offer small bags of ice instead of the usual noisy, clunky ice making machines. Hot tea was a fav, but I can also appreciate not wanting to stock hot coffee 24-7 at each station as well. I was fine simply going to the front desk for coffee before Tim was awake in the morning, so that the room espresso maker didn't wake him up...it's pretty loud.
Last but not least, the staff service. I don't think it's even possible for me to describe sufficiently the power of your staff to make a guest feel pampered and well tended to. What an awe inspiring team you have. If we decide to visit Jackson Hole in the future, Cloudveil would be our...
