My partner and I came for dinner on the weekend after a long day of hiking in Grand Teton with beautiful weather. The couple that entered the restaurant before us was offered the option to sit at the window or in a booth by a waiter. The hostess that greeted us asked if it was just us then started to take us to a booth; when asked if we could sit at the window we were met with a sudden stop and a glare, then eventually sat us with no other exchange - strange, but whatever.
Dan then came over to serve us. We ordered one soft drink and Dan brought the wrong one over but quickly corrected it - no big deal. Upon visiting the restroom upstairs, we discovered the great seating up there and asked if we could move (we didn't even know this was an option initially). Dan seemed incredulous and concerned that it would be another server, not him, while the black-haired hostess stared at me with the meanest look I've ever received in a restaurant. You would think that I just asked them to remake four burgers and shakes the way they responded. Eventually another waiter came over and said of course, no big deal that we move. So we move, waited long enough that we had to go fetch a waitstaff to help us, and eventually got our food. Dan still served us and was very rude, dropping our plates abruptly and then doing the same with the check, barely looking at us and dropping it quickly before leaving. I also overheard Dan talking to other waiters when we walked in about how the Burger of the Month was gross and how he never usually likes it - not exactly what I would want my waitstaff discussing aloud at the front of the restaurant.
The saving grace here is that the burgers themselves were pretty good, the sweet potato fries were solid, and the homemade hot sauce was quite delicious.
I am a very casual diner. I've been a waiter, a host, a dishwasher and a prep cook. I know what needs to happen when a table wants to move. But I am also spending my money on your establishment and expect not to be treated like a villain. Solid food, very poor service. Will not...
Read moreWe went to Liberty Burger in Jackson, Wyoming, because apparently I make all my major life decisions based on the smell of grilled meat and the promise of shoestring fries. And let me tell you—these fries aren’t just good. They’re the best fries anywhere. I don’t know how they did it. Maybe they hired a fry whisperer. Maybe they just cut potatoes thinner and gave up on sleep. Either way, I’d eat a bucket of them and still ask for more. They’re like edible confetti that makes you feel joy and sodium.
Now, the bison burger, off the way to go. That’s not a typo. That’s just how my brain processed it after the first bite. It’s lean, flavorful, and somehow makes you feel like you’re participating in the ecosystem responsibly. Like, “I’m not just eating, I’m contributing.”
The Liberty Burger itself is great. Classic. Solid. Like the kind of burger that pays its taxes early and volunteers on weekends. But the Chilerno? That thing was amazing. It’s got a little heat, a little flair, and a lot of “I didn’t know I needed this in my life.” It’s the burger equivalent of finding out your quiet neighbor used to tour with a jazz band.
Also, shoutout to the gluten-free buns. My kids and I both appreciated them, and I appreciated not having to hear about cross-contamination for the rest of the day. They’re soft, they hold together, and they don’t taste like sadness, which is rare in the gluten-free world.
We topped it all off with a chocolate milkshake, because we’re adults and we make our own decisions. It was rich, creamy, and made me question why I ever trusted any other milkshake. Honestly, if Liberty Burger started selling them by the gallon, I’d buy two and tell people it’s for “meal prep.”
So yeah—five stars. Great food, great vibes, and fries that might actually be the...
Read moreNice space, friendly service, good prices. This review is for the Liberty burger. I ordered a double with American cheese. Not bad, but some feedback for the chef/owners:
-burger comes with no sauce. They’ve got quite a varied menu with some interesting flavor combinations, so this no-sauce thing comes as a surprise. I’d recommend coming up with a house burger sauce like Big Mac or in n out sauce -burger was quite over cooked, the biggest issue. Interior of the meat was piping hot, like mouth burning temperature. Was also very firmly packed. I’d bet money the cook pressed down on the patty with a spatula. I don’t know why cooks do this, aside from cooking the patty faster but it’s terrible for quality. It’s entirely possible to cook a burger through while still having the patty juicy and slightly crumby. Just don’t press down, unless you’re doing a smashburger but that’s entirely different. -lots of gourmet burger joints still doing brioche bun, including here. Nice bread, but not for burgers. It’s not great. By the end of the burger it’s falling apart, every time. Potato bun holds up much better and is equally soft and toasts nicely. -green leaf lettuce not great. Switch to iceberg. May seem “low end” but iceberg has better crispness and flavor. Green leaf lettuce doesn’t contribute much.
Just some constructive criticism. I love burgers and eat a lot of them. Would love a truly great burger...
