Just got back from our stay in Jackson. Was traveling for hiking in the Grand Tetons and running in a half marathon over the weekend. I definitely recommend this unit at Balsam Lodge as well as other properties managed by Outpost. The unit was well located for a short commute to town and being away from too much congestion. It was also 5 minutes from the race starting line which was a big deal at 4:30am! The unit was well stocked with more than enough toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, laundry supplies, linens, and kitchen cookware and place settings. I was trying to limit myself to a carry-on, so the washer/dryer as well as an ample supply of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and body wash helped so much to limit added toiletry expenses while shopping for the week. The only 2 negatives I had were the bed was a little firmer than I was used to, but I honestly got used to it after the first night and had no problems sleeping after that. We did buy a cheaper pillow top down mattress pad for $40 at Target and left it there, it was well worth it. Also, the walls are a bit thin and sound really travels throughout the unit. Was not a problem at all for our group, but if you have people sleeping at different times I recommend investing in ear plugs to limit sleep disturbances. Other positives, we were able to check into the unit two hours early. Check in and check out are very easy and what you would expect. The management company was very quick and responsive to any questions I had, usually responding by email within 2-3 hours. They were very friendly and personable and easy to work with. Thank you to Outpost for assisting in what was a wonderful week and getaway. Keep doing what...
Read moreJust recently stayed at one of their locations in Jackson Hole. The location was incredible, shuttle stop right there that took about 5 minutes to get to the base, and you could also walk a few hundred yards to a lift. Some of the beds were very questionable, bed frames completely bent inward, making for a pretty awful night of sleep. I would think a company like Outpost would ensure that their homeowners have suitable beds. This place also had paper thin walls, could literally hear the man above us snoring every night. Obviously this is due to an old building, but it’s something they should warn in case your looking for a good night sleep on your ski trip. The handbook provided was great and made navigating super easy. They provided some things like paper towels, matches, dish soap, but it was strange there was no salt or pepper and no sugar. I think it would also be good to provide newspaper for starting a fire, that is something travelers certainly won’t have on hand. Some weird fake plants in bathroom and on surfaces, it my opinion it’s best to have as much available space as possible for people to spread out their belongings rather than having dusty old fake plants. I also think Outpost should let their guests know upon booking about the reservations Jackson Hole has for Ikon pass holders, we didn’t know that you needed a “reservation” - although they sell day tickets at the window but if you have an ikon pass you can only book your days online in which they say days aren’t available yet they are selling tickets? Okayyy.
Overall I think Outpost is doing a good job, but there are surely some areas for...
Read moreTETON SHADOWS SOUTH TETON UNIT A: This should really be 4.5 stars. Everything was perfect with one small gripe at the end of this review. Location: Great at least in the summer. 12ish minutes from Jackson, 20ish minutes from GTNP entrance. Quiet complex. Amenities: Amazing! Keurig and regular drip coffee maker, kitchen utensils are not lacking, big TV with YouTube TV, very up to date fixtures in bathrooms and kitchen. Accommodations: Awesome! 2 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms upstairs, half bath on main level, Jack and Jill bathroom in the basement. We had 8 people (2 couples, 3 kids, single adult) all had comfortable (firm) beds and no one had to wait long for a shower. Extras: we visited in the summer and it was warm. No A/C but that was expected. LOTS of fans are provided by the property management company. If you're sensitive to heat, sleep in the basement level. 20 degrees cooler down there easily. Now the gripe: window screens throughout the home are either not fitted correctly, have holes in the screen or both. We easily fixed this issue with blue painters tape but I feel we shouldn't have had to do that. In the summer windows are open and bugs are fierce and plentiful. I get that in the winter this wouldn't matter but if the screens were fixed this place would be 5/5 stars easily. Even with this small gripe I would stay here again. It's a beautiful home with a nice small deck out back, plenty of room inside for 8 people, and tons of nice amenities. Just bring some 2" blue painters tape just in case the screens aren't fixed. Better yet, Outpost, please fix...
