I would not stay at the Inn at Thorn Hill again. This is due to the spa, front desk, and breakfast restaurant service. See below for more detailed information about my experiences. The facility is clean and comfortable. The Inn at Thorn Hill has their hallway decorated with 4 Diamond Awards, but unfortunately they do not deliver 4 Diamond service to their customers. I’ve had much better service staying at a Hampton Inn where I paid less than half the price.
Rooms: We stayed in the Mt. Clay room (pretty view, comfortable bed, good water pressure and hot water). The fireplace was lovely, but be cautious as the automatic timer does not always work. The in-room refrigerator was nice for the snacks we brought. We only took the elevator when we took our baggage up and down from the rooms so be prepared to climb to the third floor every day. We tipped the maid daily for turndown service. Breakfast: When we checked into the Inn at Thorn Hill, we made breakfast reservations for the 3 mornings we would be there ($20+ per person plus tips). We also confirmed with Nancy that we would like the complimentary tea and cookie service at 9:00 p.m all 3 nights. Breakfast was mostly good. One of the reasons we booked the Inn at Thorn Hill is because my friend has a gluten allergy and many notes online said that the Inn was wonderful at making dietary accommodations. The first morning we asked about gluten free options and our server said “we have toast.” Later we found out there were more options, but these were not offered to us. The second morning when we asked about gluten free options we were told that they had gluten free pancakes. Wonderful! We ordered them, and they were raw dough in the middle. When we sent them back our server was extremely annoyed. We asked for butter twice and never received it, and our water glasses were never refilled. On the third morning we canceled our breakfast reservation as we decided to spend our money somewhere else more welcoming, relaxing, and accommodating for my friend’s gluten allergy. Tea: We received our complimentary tea and cookies on 2 out of the 3 nights it was requested. Note the 9:00 tea usually comes closer to 10 p.m. so be prepared if you are looking to go to sleep earlier. The morning after we did not receive our 9:00 tea we talked to the front desk about it, and we were told “That doesn’t surprise me. I know who was on duty last night.” No offer was made to make it up to us. Restaurant: Because of our lackluster service in the breakfast room, we decided to not try any additional meals at the Inn at Thorn Hill Restaurant. We did make reservations at their sister restaurant at the Christmas Farm Inn for my birthday dinner. They had a wonderful gluten friendly menu and our server was fantastic. I made an online reservation for my birthday dinner, and when we arrived at the Christmas Farm Inn they had no record of my reservation. She shrugged and said they do not use that reservation system anymore. When the staff member at the front asked where we got the reservation from, I told her that I booked the meal reservation on their website. She shrugged and said “Oh, we must still have a bad link out there.” Bar: James was truly the exception for service at the Inn at Thorn Hill. He was friendly and accommodating. He wished me a happy birthday. He made a tiramisu martini and kept the bar open a bit later on a Sunday evening so I could celebrate at the bar at the place I was staying and did not drink and drive in the snow at night. I cannot say enough wonderful things about James. Pay him more. Keep him happy. He is a gem. Spa: I tried to book a birthday couples spa package over a month in advance. The spa manager (Adrienne) was difficult to reach and did not return phone calls or emails. After my spa package was confirmed for my birthday, it ended up being cancelled. She almost ruined my birthday. I have an in-depth review of the experience, but I'm over my character limit for my review. 0...
Read moreInn At Thorn Hill, Jackson, New Hampshire: Our second time to stay at this well appointed, beautiful B&B. Excellent, warm welcome from Christine follow by great breakfasts in their gorgeous dining room. Both of servers, Susan and Jean, we outstanding, attending to our every need. Gorgeous romantic room with comfy bed and large whirlpool bath tub. Sharonette does a great job of keeping the place lookin’ good and congenial Klaus is always checking on how things are going. Superior service. We stayed in the Webster which is one of they smaller and least expensive rooms, but just right for us. Other rooms were much bigger and priced accordingly. Great place, easy to recommend without hesitation, and definite do over.
From 10/31/16 We love this beautiful inn and B&B, having stayed three times. Nicely appointed with gorgeous rooms in which to read or just chill. Pretty surroundings and excellent breakfasts (we haven’t eaten dinner here in years). Friendly knowledgeable service with the owner, Klaus, helping in all manner possible. While Klaus greets you with a smile and a fresh muffin for breakfast, Sharonette keeps the guest rooms perfect and a pleasure in which to return after a day touring the spectacular area. Highly recommended and more than fairly priced for what Klaus provides.

The Inn at Thorn Hill Tho’ we’ve stayed here many times, this is the second year under the new management. Under Steve and Katey’s (check this) tutelage, the inn continues to improve and impress. We love the beautiful and well-appointed rooms...they’re attractive and very comfy. Great beds, great views, and a most welcoming main, or family room downstairs. The Keurig is alway available and fresh pastries are served every morning and excellent warm cookies every afternoon. Two fireplaces really set the mood, tho’ there’s a large porch that beckons as well. Each room has its own fireplace and the longtime housekeeper, Sharonette, keeps the place running and looking great. Steve is a funny and enthusiastic host, heavily involved in the day-to-day operations as well as being an excellent chef. Breakfasts are just outstanding, featuring fresh local fruit and berries and some “always available” items as well as the daily breakfast specials. I think Steve cooks about half of the breakfasts himself, but dinner is usually handled by another chef, as best i can tell. Breakfast is included in the price of the room, but we always tip on the basis of its “retail” cost. Excellent crispy, crunchy waffles made with pearl sugar....these are a real treat and alway available. All breakfasts are made to order. Dinner finds a pretty varied menu, again with two specials each evening. A dinner package is available and we took it two of our four nights. As in the past, the “lamb chop “lollipops” were delicious and my wife really liked the clam chowder. For entree ́s we both liked the filet with it’s excellent mashed potatoes, and my duck was also excellent. The second nite, my seared tuna was just right and delicious, but BJ’s “tuxedo” salmon was overcooked..even for her, and that’s hard to do! All of our deserts were superb, especially her ??? (look this up). The waitstaff is wonderful and attentive and the entire culture of the inn is to make your stay warm and memorable. A++ An excellent time in all ways and we’ll be back, next year...same time!

Read moreI cannot begin to say enough positive things about this establishment and the guest experience they create. We planned to visit the area for our five year wedding anniversary and initially planned to stay at another local property. After one disappointing night, we packed up our bags and drove right over to Thorn Hill, completely changing our entire celebration trip. We had stayed here once before and absolutely should have just planned to stay here from the start. Our experience began with Amy. The morning we decided to leave the other property, I called Thorn Hill and Amy was more than patient in setting up a reservation for us, checking in that same day. She was incredibly kind and seemed to personally care about turning our anniversary trip around. After we officially checked in, we went up to our room (the beautiful Presidential Suite) and breathed the biggest sigh of relief upon opening the door and seeing the fabulous and CLEAN accommodations that we remembered from our visit years ago. It was a complete reset of our entire trip and we immediately felt right at home. This was only further enhanced by the personal note and delicious snack sent up for us by Amy. Again, I cannot stress enough and commend the housekeeping staff for their hard work, the rooms are very clean (as a former hotel manager, I have a very high standard for these things). The experience then extended to the restaurant where we met Kae and Nicole, both of whom were fantastic. They greeted us and made us feel so welcome, almost as if we had known them for years. They made sure we had a lovely table for dinner and Nicole personally recommended several menu items, which we ordered. In short, the food was phenomenal, highlighted by a gorgeous dining room and view. We later made the decision to go back to the restaurant/lounge the following night for dessert and drinks, solely because of the experience they provided. The second evening we were able to meet James, the bartender who personally develops some of the most delicious and unique cocktails we have had. More on the dining aspect of the stay, we were fortunate enough to have David as our server for breakfast both mornings. Included with our room was a delicious, hot, made to order breakfast served on the gorgeous covered porch. David was incredibly kind and even tailored our breakfast experience based on requests we had made the prior day. Overseeing the entire experience was Nancy from guest services. Her years of experience showed through with everything she did, personalizing our experience in many ways. She was also the one who ensured that we received complimentary tea service, with tea and cookies, each evening - a delightful touch. All of the above took place on a gorgeous property with an incredible covered porch and views. Again, 100% recommend and thank all of the staff for making our anniversary...
