Favorite meal of our trip. Excellent French onion soup, good drinks reasonably priced. Filet medallions cooked just right. I chose to have them topped with Gorgonzola peppercorn butter which was formed in a log and sliced and layered on top of the steak. So good. My gorlfriend got sweet bourbon tips. Meat and glaze was excelent. Gouda mashed potatoes were really nice. Our son who’s five ate every piece of pasta and sauce he got. Interior was comfortable and clean. Lots of seating. Dessert we got a warm chocolate chip cookie and vanilla ice cream and my girlfriend was talking about it still 3 days after. Would definetly come back if we are in the area.

What a disappointing return. Your new menu is terrible. I get downsizing but everything good is gone. I fell in love with the filet with Gorgonzola butter slice… it’s gone. I settled for a short grilled cheese it’s now gone too… waitress said it’s available on the weekends… menu says it’s only available for Lunch. Ur Buratta was bad… tomatos were red but rock hard. The pieces of bread burnt like lazy cook that doesn’t care… basil leafs whole, just seemed really unrefined. Over all taste was blackened bread. Espresso martini tasted like a bad chocolate milk, I drink a lot of them and this isn’t a preference thing it just wasn’t good. my old fashioned had a maraschino cherry instead of a luxardo. For $13 bulleit and ice cubes the least you can do is give me a real cherry. Your hostess (20 year old blond skinny) couldn’t even hide her bad attitude. I booked a reservation 2 months out and looked forward to visiting here more then anywhere on my trip. I own 2 restaurants CT, I cant express my disappointment. I feel like you must have sold the business. I wrote you a letter 3 months ago hoping to meet to potentially collaborate on a restaurant I own because I was so impressed with your operation but after tonight I’m not even sure I want to come back. No disrespect but whatever happened it’s so noticeable. My bill was $127. For my self my wife and two kids. The kids each only ate pasta with red sauce, a milk...
Read moreThe only reason I’m giving two stars is because the food was actually very good and the hostess was very pleasant.
We went here for my sisters wedding dinner. She had a very small wedding and only 8 of us went and after the ceremony we had reservations for dinner at the red fox bar and grill.
Hostess escorted me in to set some things up at the table, I was very appreciative at how accommodating they were being.
Once the whole party arrived and we sat down to eat that’s when things got bad. Our waitress never introduced herself and took a while to even get our drink orders ( though we watched her Be attentive to Every other table) we got our drinks finally and being thirsty two people from our party quickly finish there drinks and asked if she could bring a pitcher of water for the table, that was the first Show of attitude We got from her. Our food was brought out as fast as expected and it was actually really good. Bride asked for a refill on her drink and it never got brought out. Groom asked for a cheesecake to go and we over heard her mocking him to another table because of it. When we were ready to go we asked to split the bill and she was extremely rude and walked away, took 20 minutes for her to return to figure out how it was being split, when she left to run the bills she was gone for another 20 minutes before she came back with more attitude. The bride is a waitress herself and confronted the mistreatment and she only got a “I’m sorry you feel that way” when the father of the groom spoke to the manager he got the same reply. I’m not one to complain and definitely not one to leave a negative review but for this to be a wedding party and this be the service we received was more than just...
Read moreMy family came to town hoping to experience a Christmas vacation with snow in the mountains only to arrive the day after a series of 50° rainy weather melted every last bit of snow and left roads washed out and all wintery activities cancelled. The B&B we were staying at pointed us to the Red Fox for dinner our first night in.
The place was super busy, but we were still sat immediately. We were shown to our table, right next to a real wood fireplace with roaring fire popping away. The wonderful smell of smoldering rough split maple mixing with their wood fire oven making the place feel not just homey, but full of all the Christmas cheer that the outside weather lacked.
The menu was not huge, but with more than enough options for anyone find something they loved. All four of us all were left pained to decide what we wanted. So much so that the next day, we cancelled dinner at the B&B and went back to the Red Fox, with the same wonderful waitress that recognized us, so we could try out our "runner up" dish from the night before.
And somehow, they ended up even better than the previous day.
Service, atmosphere, and food are all top notch. I suggest the mussels or spinach dip (served with wood fire oven made flatbread strips) and the scallops. Though my daughter's New England pot roast was so good that I tried (unsuccessfully) to get the recipe.
If you ever find yourself in rural New Hampshire after wandering in from Quebec like we did, make this a stop...
