Mr. and Mrs. Shomaker are just lovely and very welcoming. They are a wealth of knowledge and have a wealth of history preserved here. They have raised funds to preserve and archive the town of Jackson and their museum is a host of artists renditions of the white mountains. (ask them about the library across the street!) 19th to 21st century art is here and there’s a special exhibit upstairs that you should see that focuses on 19th century art from women specifically, inspired by the region. The museum is free but there’s a donation bin that is worth your consideration. People that do this kind of work (what the Shomakers do) are invaluable, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate those that act to preserve the past.
