Hawthorn Extended Stay by Wyndham Loveland — Hotel in Johnstown

Room was clean and a good set up with a separate bedroom (with a door), living room area with a small sofa bed (twin or double), mini kitchen with a full size dishwasher & microwave plus a large fridge & freezer and a cook top.

Very disappointed and inconvenient that wifi didn't work for the majority of our 5 night stay so had to go to a coffee shop to work. Staff were not helpful regarding lack of internet and made dumb excuses why it wasn't working (too windy, wifi doesn't reach some parts of hotel). No compensation for this not being available....was told that internet was free and then offer me to come down and get some "snacks".

Breakfast had a good selection of items but breakfast area was poorly maintained even though there was a designated staff member working this area. The food area was very messy every time we visited with waffle batter spills, bread crumbs everywhere plus a full trash can. The tables in the breakfast area were never cleaned off between diners so we had to sit at a dirty table every morning. I overheard someone asking the breakfast staff lady to refill something and her response was that she put more out yesterday and it never got used.

One of the two elevators at the hotel was out of service for the majority of our stay. It was initially working when we first arrived but then had an out of order sign on it directing people to use the other elevator on the other side of the hotel. Not only was this inconvenient having to walk all the way to the other side of the property, it caused for very long wait times for the elevator, especially in the mornings when people and the housekeeping staff were using the ONE elevator.

Location was conveniently located right off the freeway and nearby many restaurants...

I booked the hotel based on where it was located in reference to a particular destination. With that said, after getting into town, the road to the hotel was closed so there is a several mile detour which completely ruined the plan of staying here because it was close to a particular destination. After getting to my room, I went to make lunch and all of the dishes were dirty and there were dirty dishes in the dishwasher. I decided to put all of the dishes in the dishwasher and wash them. Come to find out the dishwasher is broken. When I spoke to the front desk about the dishwasher and dirty dishes, she just made excuses and offered to bring the dishes down and wash them. The room hasn’t been cleaned properly-at least offer to move us to another room, a partial refund, something. Later I go to make a cup of coffee so I plug in the coffeemaker, have not pressed the on button yet and it starts pouring coffee all over the counter and it wouldn’t let me turn it off to make it stop. Haven’t tried out the microwave, toaster or stove but so far the only thing that works is the fridge. So far, I’m very disappointed and at this point I want at least part of my money back. After finding out the road was closed, I almost switched hotels because that was the main reason I chose this hotel. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Might still leave and stay...

This was a better than average stay for an older, arthritic couple. I had booked another two night stay with a hotel chain and upon further investigation discovered there would be n extra $30 charge for what I originally reserved. The photo I tapped had a whirlpool tub outside the bath in the room, a feature I wanted. I took the time to visit the chain to examine the room…the attendant showed me several different rooms, none of which had the whirlpool. Finally she showed me where a room with whirlpool was, up a flight of stairs, yet I could not see in the room since someone was in it. The attendant said I could have this room for an extra $30, making my total $167.00. The place smelled…I looked around at other hotel deals and Hawthorne came in at $166.00! The reviews bragged about the hot tub and pool, and the photo of them looked inviting. The place looked clean and inviting in the photos. I booked with Hawthorn, then was able to cancel the other place. We are 82 and 69 and the elevator was welcome. The suite with kitchenette was perfect with full fridge and microwave! The bath has a welcome safety grab bar and the tub was immaculate. The wonderful hot tub and tub were also immaculate, with so very much appreciated jets with multiple pressure points for our sciatica and knee...
