We recently stayed at the Hampton Inn Lake Delton (7/5 thru 7/7). The room had pet hair on the carpet, which caused an asthma attack for my spouse. Management told us that the Hilton policy starting the beginning of this year states pets can be in rooms. He stated it was our responsibility to look at the website and see that pets were allowed in the rooms. They also stated the policy did not provide for rooms that were pet free. After my spouse was treated by a doctor for his asthma attack, the manager finally changed our room to a room he did not believe had pets in it. It appears that was the case as he did not have another attack. In the other room, there were 2 feather pillows and 2 non feather pillows. To not take any chances with his asthma, my spouse went to the front desk in the evening to ask to swap for 2 non feather pillows. The attendant at the front desk was very rude and asked if we had requested a non feather pillow in the reservation. He replied no, and was then told since we had not requested a non feather pillow, they would not have any non feather pillows. Stating we had never had to place that request in the reservation before, the attendant went to the back to get 2 pillows. Turns out one of those was still a feather pillow, which he ended up leaving at the desk. The attendant said nothing. We have stayed at this particular location many times and were displeased with the front desk interactions that we recently experienced. Previous stays had managers that were kind and compassionate. For an industry that prides itself on hospitality, the staff at the Hampton Inn Lake Delton showed no hospitality. We were to stay again at the Lake Delton location in two weeks. But due to the negative staff interactions, we moved our reservation to another location. As a suggestion, maybe have a floor or section dedicated for those who have pets. This would avoid having many rooms spread over a complex with the pet dandruff and having customers face health issues. After discussing the issue with Hilton Guest Assistance, I was told this is not typical of the Hilton Hotels and the people they serve. The family should not have encountered this type of experience. Past experiences were wonderful, but two issues in one stay should have...
Read moreWe enjoyed our stay at another Hampton Inn and Suites in Illinois and needed a quick stay.
We specifically picked Hampton Inn because we loved our stay in Schaumburg, IL. Thus stay was similar and there were only a couple of things we didn't love.
Loved: Nice room! Clean and comfy. Nice bathroom and plenty of pillows! AC kept us cool and comfortable.
Pool area looked great, but we didn't end up staying long enough to use it.
We used the laundry facilities, and that was super helpful as one of our kids had an accident prior to arriving.
Hot breakfast was offered, with very clear and helpful guidelines on how to do it. Eggs, bacon, potatoes, oatmeal, muffins, cereal, yogurt, bagels, bread to toast, granola bars.
The two things I didn't love: #1 I know Wisconsin is doing its own thing as far as masking goes, but the only people wearing masks were the staff and my family. No guests I saw were wearing them. I don't know the rules in Wisconsin, but I'd say for a business that did a GREAT job on following protocols for breakfast, you definitely could mandate that guests wear a mask in the public areas.
#2 We didn't use the pool mostly because we didn't have time, but also because...despite saying there was a one-hour limit for guest usage, the front desk said a group had been in there from 3:30pm-6:00pm. It's not that big of a deal, but why say you have a time limit if you don't enforce it?
Overall, our short stay was quite pleasant and we'd come back. Plus, our kids really want to play...
Read moreWe’ve stayed at this hotel several times and were happy, but unfortunately something seems to be changing here. Jason at the front desk in the evening was super helpful and friendly, but the morning men at the front desk barely looked up from what they were doing and the taller man was downright surly to me. Not welcoming or friendly at all.||Our neighbors had a large dog that barked loudly and often. I hear enough of that at home, it’s not relaxing to hear it on vacation. The people above us had (I assume) kids who sounded like they were jumping off the beds non stop at all hours. Many people were leaving their food garbage in the hallways, which we had to see and smell whenever we were passing by. Our neighbors even left their dirty bathroom towels in the hallway all day.||Breakfast had much less selection than I remember, and it wasn’t very good. The coffee was absolutely terrible, which has never been the case. My daughter was cold on the sofa bed because the hvac unit blows directly on it. We asked for a comforter like what’s on the regular beds and we’re handed a thin waffle weave blanket and told that’s all we could get. Everything we needed we had to walk down to the front desk to pick up.|| I don’t feel like we had the same relaxing stay that we’ve had in the past, especially when considering the money + points spent on the room. I think we will be looking for other...
