WHAT A JOKE!!!! Was looking on priceline and found a good deal I HAD THOUGHT ANYWAYS for July 31-Aug 3rd. Called directly to the Strat spoke with Ely in reservations I told him what I had found thru priceline and what I was looking for(2 queen beds and a couch) Ely said he can beat that and has an upgraded family suite, with 2 Queen beds,a couch,a workout area, stand up shower with a separate jet extra large bath tub. With a price of $385.53. (Booked the room) with Ely which was much cheaper than priceline for a regular size room. I had told Ely I was taking my daughter for her 21st birthday and wanted to have a view of the strip from the room. Ely said he can't say if we would have a view that it all depends at check in and to let the desk know when we checked in. Ely also said that he would give us free passes to go up to the top of the Strat tower for view, also he was giving us a coupon/voucher for $25 torwars food at the hotel(NEVER GOT) Also stated that there were two pools with one being on the 24th floor so she could have a view from there. Hall carpets were not flat, had ripples, you had to watch or you will trip. Well... when checking in we get the key cards to 18th floor room 025. I ask for the passes to the top of the Strat and she gives me discounted coupons. She says I don't know why Ely told me he would have free passes set for us.... we get to the room. NO JET TUB, NO STAND UP SHOWER . HAD CRACKED UP BATHROOM VANITY. Hotel has a musky smell. went back to the check in counter same lady says she don't know why I was given the wrong information about the room. I told her that the vanity was all cracked up and she says well it it 10 years old.. She says the room Ely gave us was not an upgraded room and if we wanted it she could move us but there would only be 1 king size bed and a couch and us 4 guest won't fit... but had to pay the extra money to change rooms..than why in the hell did he say we would have when we didn't. We go to the pool on the lower level to check it out and the girl that hands out towels say the pool closes at 6. Really!!! What pool closes at 6. We asked her what about the pool on the 24th floor. She says oh it's closed and under construction.. House keeping did ok the first day than the second day we took off in the morning to go for breakfast came back to the room where housekeeping hadnt been yet. Call the front desk ,she said she would have housekeeping up right away. We had to be gone when they came so we left and came back around 7pm and still hadnt been cleaned. Desk says the day shift didnt do our room and left it for the night crew. But yet they cleaned both rooms on either side of us.. she sends them back up but again we had to leave the room. We hurry up and get ready to go out on the strip and here she comes. We had to wait in the hallway for her to clean... my daughter tells her do you need help shes like yeah. All she has to do was empty the trash and clean the bathroom with what towels were used because I bought our own. My daughter ended taking all the trash out and putting it in the housekeepers cart.. than we continued to get ready to go out. OMG. NEVER AGAIN!! Parking is a joke. $20 a day!!! Should be free for paying guest of the hotel. Hotel is in a bad area.Homeless everywhere sleeping on the sidewalks. Smells all around that area. Oh and they want $150 deposit when you check in,I get it. To cover any damages to the room if any when check out. Checked out on August 3rd still havnt got the money back in my account. Spoke to the front desk. She says it was released on their end and to contact my bank. My bank says NO it still shows that the hotel is still holding on to it.. called the hotel desk again Alex for a manager. Told I will get a call back because their short staffed and busy. That's not my fault. OF COURSE NO CALL YET and that's been since Saturday Aug 10th I don't know what to do except wait till till end of the week and see. NOT AGAIN!! DONT RECOMMENDED! STAY AWAY! NOTHING WAS RIGHT ABOUT OUR RESERVATION! Look up the lawsuit...
Read moreAVOID AT ALL COSTS! Before I get into the negative let me start with two positives that were the only good thing from our trip. We had dinner at PT Wings-our server David was one of the best we have ever had. The food was great as well. The only other positive was a girl named Brielli ( spelling could be wrong) working check out. She was super sweet and helped me with an incorrect billing issue on the hotels part.
My BIGGEST complaint is the level of literal harassment from the West Gate time share people INSIDE this hotel-If I wanted to stay at the west gate-I would have booked there. They are EVERYWHERE you turn. We would walk past one and say no thank and two seconds later, there is another one. We spent more time avoiding them and telling them NO than we did actually enjoying your casino and facilities. Extreme turn off and beyond frustrating. Then when you tell them no, they get an attitude with you and ask "what else do you have better to do".
Our room was ok. Nothing great but it wasn't horrible. Our bed was comfortable. The AC was great during the day but it seemed to barely cool at night. We were on a non smoking floor but yet the entire floor spelled like cigarettes and weed as soon as you open your door or step off the elevator. They advertise daily room cleaning services-this was inaccurate for us. We were there for 2.5 days before anyone came to our room to clean up and even then they only left us one washcloth for two people.
There are a lot of strange people in the hotel-whether guests or not I do not know. There is a Mcd's located on the 2nd floor and that is the area where most of my uncomfortable feelings presented. We travel to different countries and I have always felt safe without my husband, however, here I did not feel safe just going to get us drinks without him inside our own hotel. I think there could be better security.
I understand it is Vegas and a tourist destination but the price gouging is worse than Disney. A 20oz lemonade was $7.
The observation tower was nice but I'm not sure it was worth the money that you paid. Most of the screens that you can look at were broken.
We arrived at the hotel around 1230 and our room was ready so that was a plus.
Lastly, they tried to incorrectly charge me for resort fees. I paid a deposit online when I booked and received an email listing my remaining balance with a breakdown of the charges so I knew what I was expected to pay upon arrival. I checked in online when we arrived to the airport which went smoothly. I noticed the charge was for more than what I had expected between the nightly deposit and my remaining balance but didn't think to much of it. Check out day came and I went to check out online and it provided me with a balance higher than what I had listed in my email. I texted the chat that had been communicative during our stay and was told that the fee listed was correct. So I sent them a screenshot of my confirmation email with a different amount than they were charging me. They told me I was wrong and that I booked after their resort fee had increased. Well if that's the case, why wasn't I charged the new resort fee when I booked (mind you the resort fee was listed clearly on my confirmation email that I provided). The chat person still proceeded to tell me I was wrong so I went to the front desk and spoke with Brielli as mentioned above. She informed me that it was a simple mistake and that by checking in online-it automatically applied the new resort fee to my account. She quickly corrected it and I was charged the correct amount. Upon returning back to my room I had received another message in the chat informing me that I was wrong and would be charged the amount shown in my account at check out and not the amount in my confirmation email. I responded back that I had spoken to the front desk and it had been taken care of. While the amount wasn't more than $20-it still makes me wonder how many people are charged and don't even realize it.
Before you respond to this review and tell me to email customer service, I did...
Read moreAll around bad, would have stayed elsewhere had I known. Wouldn’t consider this a four star hotel. I’ve stayed at better low-tier hotels. Save yourself the wasted time, and don’t check in at the self-serve kiosk. It tells you it will text you when the room is ready. Since I didn’t want to stand in the smoke filled casino with my asthmatic child for an unknown amount of time at 11pm, we went up to the desk and were roomed right away. Over an hour after we are already in our room, we got the text that our room was ready.
The beds are terribly uncomfortable. Hard and lumpy, both the beds and pillows. This makes it hard to sleep, but what makes sleeping even more difficult is the lack of black out curtains in the room we were given. We have literal spotlights from the front of the building shining into our room, and no black out curtains. You can see perfectly in the room at 3am.
I called concierge regarding the black out curtains, to see if we could switch rooms since even with your eyes closed it is still bright. I let the lady know this, and that we would like to switch, to which her response was “uhhh.” long pause, “umm” long pause, and then her saying she has never stayed here, so she’s not sure what’s in the room. I let her know that the photos advertised show blackout curtains in every double queen, including the one we are in (elevate queen). She then put me on a brief hold. She came back and said that she’s not sure how third parties advertise, but that all rooms have the same curtains. I let her know that while I did book third party, the photos I’m referencing were on The Strat’s own website. I asked to again switch rooms, or get a refund of some sort because the rooms aren’t properly advertised. She put me on a longer hold and came back to say “I don’t know who edits the photos, but every room has the same curtains” (inaccurate obviously), she then told me she couldn’t switch me rooms since every room has the same curtains. Then I was informed that I can’t get a refund unless I pack my stuff and leave at 2am, only then they would refund the resort fees and deposit. Since I booked third party I would understandably have to go through them for the rest. They also do not refund the $20 per day parking. Even the cheapest dinky motels I’ve stayed at have blackout curtains, I’ve quite literally never stayed in a hotel in all my traveling that didn’t have blackout curtains. When you’re in a city that has so much light at night (not even considering the spotlights facing your room) I didn’t even consider this might be an issue. Blackout curtains should, and usually are, a given when traveling.
Onto the resort fees. On their own website, when you check out for a room, in the fine print, they mention a $75 per night deposit. They also mention “resort fee plus tax will be collected at check in”, but nowhere do they mention the price of the resort fee during checkout. You have to go to their FAQ to find that info out. I’ll save you the time, it’s $49.95 plus tax per night. Other hotels on the strip do not hide their fees (even though The Strat website advertises no hidden fees.). Other websites show the base price + resort fee = price per night, very publicly, before you even pick your room.
Now, onto being a bit nit picky. These things may have been easier to overlook had the room met the minimum expectation of a dark room at night. The carpets are stained, the sink doesn’t drain well, and the walls in the bathroom around the sink are covered in toothpaste splatter. The tv doesn’t have good WiFi, and the options for streaming are lacking (only Netflix and YouTube). Water bottle was over $10, but I suppose this is to be expected on the strip.
Pros: the ac works very well. lol Starbucks and McDonalds inside the casino are 24hrs.
I am attaching photos of the room, the lights shining into our room, the photos of the curtains on their website (double curtains, both sheer and black out). I am also including a photo of the curtains tracks where you can see that there is no second track, and there is no...
