One of my kids wanted a thrilling birthday so we headed to the stratosphere. Parking is $20. We parked in self parking and then trekked through the casino to the ticket office.
It looked like all the rides were closed. We asked and they said rides don't open until 230. So we bought our tickets. We all went up and then we got one unlimited bracelet.
We waited in line for the elevator. They only had one going up to the top. They took 10 people at a time. We made it up. The views are absolutely spectacular. You can see everything. I'm scared of heights so it was a bit overwhelming.
We wandered and watched people do the bungee falling one. They have a bar up there as well as a treat shop with yummy ice cream.
Finally at 230 we went up the stairs to the next level to check out the rides. We got in line for the roller coaster one and waited. Then we talked to someone who said they didn't have enough staff so that one wasn't going. They said they might start it at 4. We saw people on the one that shoots you into the air. My kid went and got in line. It was thrilling
We went back to check on the other rides. The rollercoaster one still was not staffed. We asked about the one that twirls and they said it was missing parts.
So we paid for unlimited and got one ride. We enjoyed the views a bit more and then went back down.
It was a bit of a letdown but the views were incredible. Definitely worth a trip but ask about ride availability when...
Read moreThis was a somewhat disappointing experience for me.
I did the Big Shot and it wasn't great. There was a long line with no wait time indicators. It was during the day and up there (outside) it felt like 50C (or 120F). Also, it ruined a shirt because the red leather on the ride seats gave off because of the heat. Because it was on my back, I didn't notice it till I had left the casino and made my way back to the strip.
Oh yeah, it's quite far from the main strip. Sure, you can use the monorail, but even then it's a bit of a walk through the desert heat. Also, you don't get a great view of the main part of the strip. At night it might have looked a bit different, but either way the bend in S Las Vegas Blvd is always in the way. Plus the distance is too great to get nice shot, even with a zoom lens.
There was one ride that actually seemed more fun than the others, which was the Sky Jump (controlled free-fall from top of tower to roof of casino), but that one is very expensive. Was't worth the $$$ to me.
I don't recommend this, unless it's on your bucket list. And if it is, I would strongly suggest to do this at night (not as hot, plus maybe a bit better view). I regret that I lost almost 3 hours (including getting there and back and waiting in line) on a ride that gave me a mediocre adrenaline rush...
Read moreThe price for one ride I wouldn't have been happy about but you get a good discount on your 2nd and 3rd ride. We decided to do the x scream and the insanity.
Insanity was def worth it. The ride will dangle you over the edge of the building and spin you multiple times. You can look straight down and see entire building from the ground up, if you dare ;) I recommend if you have someone not joining you to take photos or videos. The photos we got were kinda dark. But the ride was fantastic! 5/5 stars for sure.
The x scream was thrilling but we ended up in the back row. I imagine the ride would have been ten times more epic in the front two rows. Photos look great for the front two ppl, but the ride was 3/5 stars for me.
The staff was professional, nice, and very safe. If you are a thrill seeker make sure...
