So, first impressions of this hotel are not great. We arrived back in Miami earlier than expected and notified the hotel of a request for an early check-in at 7:05am. We arrived at the hotel at 8:30. They were very nice, and gave us a card to access the facilities while we waited for the room. Check out is at 11, so didn’t expect to get into the room before noon.
We played at the pool for a few hours, and at 11:15 I checked on the room status. The front desk told us that the room was scheduled to be vacated at 11:30, and they had placed a “rush” on the cleaning and to check back at noon. “Maybe go and get some lunch at our restaurant”, they said. So we did.
Then, at 12:30 I came back to see how our room was doing. “Hmm… where is it… hmmm…” they said. Is there an issue? “Well, you room was pending and now it’s on the list to be cleaned. It’s like, 11th on the list”. 11th? What happened to cleaning my room right after the other guys left? What is going on? What should I tell my kids about when to expect to get into the room? “Due to no rooms being available as of right now for early check in, I am only able to say 4pm. As 4pm is our guaranteed check in time.”
I understand that there may not be early check-in. If they had said that from the beginning, we would have been fine. Pace ourselves. Look for something to do around town, looked for a better place to eat, anything. But now, armed with unmet expectations and exhausted children after a long morning, we are crashed in the lobby, awaiting a call that may still be 2 hours away saying “your room is ready”.
At least now I am able to give my kids realistic expectations. “Boys, the room will be ready in 2 hours, so settle in” “but dad”, they say, “didn’t they say they would clean it as soon as the other people left?” “Yes they did… yes they did…”
EDIT: Been in the room for almost 24 hours. I will say, I added some stars to service and would rate 3.5 if I could. The view is really great. I am in a room that overlooks the ocean, and the Balcony is HUGE! It has 2 lounge chairs, and a table and 2 sitting chairs. Also the beach is right there!
A few notes (good and bad)
Ordered Breakfast: A little expensive for the amount. Probably should be 18 and not 15 for diamond members. But the staff was quick and helpful.
The beach: there were no towels to grab, but I saw a guy with an armful of towels. He asked “How many?” I asked for 4 towels. The guy rolled his eyes and says “how many PEOPLE.” I said “FOUR”. He reluctantly gave me 4 towels. Great service!
There was a guy asking if we wanted drinks or anything, so would have been AWESOME if we didn’t… have the kids…. With us.. Sigh…
The elevator: 2 elevators for the whole hotel. One broken. So, getting Up and down is a problem. In Fact, the whole system needs an overhaul. So going to the lobby to pick up a door dash and getting back the room can be a 40 minute ordeal. Literally climbed to the 6th floor (I am a big guy) to avoid it. Def a facilities issue.
There is a CEILING FAN in the room! Big...
Read moreTHIS HOTEL IS RIDICULOUS....ly Awesome!! So many wonderful things happened, and people helped us that I am not sure if I am able to write every detail, but I will do my best to try! My wife and I recently chose the Hilton Cabana during our 5 day/ 4 night stay on Miami Beach. From the moment we arrived we were immediately greeted with a smile and a helping hand from the front door valet and hospitality! Check-in was stress free and upon requests for local eatery we were quickly provided with several walkable choices. (See other posted reviews for exceptional eating options that are hidden gems on Collins ave.) As my wife and I are early risers, we decided to start our day with some hot coffee from the coffee bar and we were more than pleased with the service and the delicious coffee. This is also where we met the first of many hospitable staff members that would later exceed our expectations. A must-do on your list of things while vacationing here is taking a trip down to the beach and watching the ocean sunrise! We literally did this everyday! After the breath taking views, your next best option is to stop in and have breakfast at the Allison Restaurant located downstairs by the exclusive Hilton pools and cabanas. Every item on their menu is perfectly assembled with quality food options for all members of your family. From the delectable Carne Asada pancake tacos, to the cabana omelets and everything in between, you simply can't go wrong with any choice you make. Not only is the food delicious, but the service is also devine! Serguad and Wesner were our first servers during our stay and they immediately set the tone for what you should expect when staying at any Five star establishment. The next morning we were greeted by another server rock star named Yurison. This staff member is literally everywhere at once. Not only did he provide us with coffee at the coffee bar, he also later was our server for breakfast, and if that wasn't enough, he was our food and beverage provider on the beach with the Hilton provided relaxation chairs that come with your stay! Amazing service and he had everything brought to us in a flash! Also, during our morning beach sun gazing breakfast endeavors we were provided with service by Audriana and the server manager Fabiana! Again, we were pleased with their knowledge of menu attributions and accommodating service. Whoever hired and trained these key kitchen staffers should surely get a raise because they knocked it out of the park our entire stay and interaction with all of them! Our over all stay was so relaxing and unbelievably fun that we have already marked it on our calendar to come back next year! Do not hesitate! Book your reservation now! And after your stay, come back and write your own raving review!
To ALL of the ktchen staff, servers, front desk and anyone else we interacted with at the Hilton Cabana Miami Beach Hotel....Thank You for a wonderful vacation and an unforgettable amazing experience! We will...
Read moreWe recently stayed here as we were in town for a family wedding and although we enjoyed Miami, unfortunately we did not enjoy this hotel. Upon arriving, the valet was a mess and our driver had nowhere to safely park to let us out. All of the valet workers were scrolling on their phones at their kiosk as I was carrying my luggage through parked cars and up the stairs. As I was on the last step coming up the stairs, someone finally looked up and came running to help me. We also loaded our stuff on the bellhop ourselves at the door. When we went to the front desk to check in, the lady working the counter said we were staying for 2 nights...I panicked and said that was incorrect as we were staying for 5 nights (Wed-Mon) she said they made 2 reservations since the 2 nights she was talking about was for a group rate for the wedding party, however when she was telling me this, her tone was borderline condescending and snippy. When we got to our room which was next to the gym, throughout our stay we heard ppl dropping the weights on the floor which was a loud BOOM! that we constantly heard through the walls. After we got to our room we napped, woke up at around 8:00pm & walked over to the Allison restaurant. Upon sitting down, the server did not greet us, but immediately told us we had to order at the bar and take it to go only. I assumed they were closing, however there were a few families sitting and enjoying their meal. When I got my food, I ate my burger at a random table in the lobby and realized no one had left the bar or restaurant that we saw earlier so why couldn't I just stay and eat there? After the two days passed, We got a knock on the door about check out in which I said no, we're checking out Monday....They took care of it, but then our keys didn't work and had to be re-programmed. Sunday comes around and we get the same knock to check out in which I said our reservation is until MONDAY. A manager called the room and was going back and forth with me about our check out date and I said dude, just add another night then...not that hard. Mind you he was getting snippy as well. He said they had to make a completely new reservation again in which we had to pay all the resort fees and taxes and deposit again even though they messed up our reservation and put us as a Sunday check out when I confirmed the dates with the front desk lady on Wednesday when we checked in that we were checking out Monday. The only good service we had at this hotel was from the gentlemen working the pool bar area & towel service. Wesner (I believe that was his name) was an absolute sweetheart and took good care of us at the beach and pool area. He is the definition of good customer service and at least made our beach and pool experience pleasant. I will also say that the food and cocktails were good, however management, restaurant server girl working this past Wednesday evening, front desk exhibited terrible customer service. Love Miami, but Wont be back at...
