Got there around midnight. there's a lady in front of me saying her air conditioner is broken and the guy at the front desk basically says sorry we're fully booked! So I step up to the counter to check in and towards the end surprises me with a 30 dollar a day resort fee! This is so far from a resort but it's Miami and they all do it. Even the dumpy places. I even looked online before I booked to make sure. Evidently they have it buried at the bottom of their website mixed in with another paragraph. Now to the ridiculous. I get my room key and tell the front desk I'm gonna unload my luggage first and then find off site parking several blocks away I might add. I bring my bags upstairs (no elevator) when I open the door the room smells of mold so bad. So bad that they have placed a dehumidifier in the room and it was full of water! Mold spores on the ceiling around the air filter and on the ceilings in the corner by the door. I take my luggage back downstairs and tell him that the room is unacceptable and a health risk. A little musty smell is fine but this was overwhelming. He says the same thing, sorry we're booked. I left frustrated and carry my luggage all the way back upstairs to the room. I attempt to open the door but my key will not work! I go back downstairs with luggage in hand and tell him the key won't work. He said it was because I must have had the key card next to my phone? What? never had that issue before. He issues me another key and I carry my luggage upstairs once again. I get to the room and open the door and there's two men on the bed doing who knows what. They screamed and I said you're in my room! I shut the door because I didn't want to see anymore. I go back downstairs luggage in hand again and tell the front desk that there's two men in my room on the bed. He looked baffled. I said let's go together. Again upstairs and he opens the door and the two men yell again. The hotel clerk says your in his room. They said no you assigned us this room! They came to the door with two papers both saying room 1222 the first paper was mine when I first walked in the room I left it on the countertop when I went down to complain about the mold. The clerk looked baffled as they closed the door. He said that they were supposed to be in 1206. He said I'm gonna make them leave. I said wait what? I'm not sleeping on that bed after what I saw! He said he would give me fresh linens! Really?? This is clearly the clerks fault for assigning two separate guests to the same room. There's simply no other explanation. So I said why don't you give me the room they were supposed to have 1206? He seemed puzzled by my suggestion. I asked why he wasn't understanding me and he finally said yeah we're gonna do that. I think he was overwhelmed. So I get back downstairs again with luggage and he issues a new key to 1206. I bring my luggage back up for the last time. I get settled in and head out for an hour or so. When I finally return to the room to settle in for the night I turn on the TV and it shows the channel guide and the screen quickly goes gray with black vertical stripes on the screen! I turn the TV off and on several times to no avail! It's 230am at this point. I call the front desk no answer! Call again no answer! If this is a resort shouldn't the phones be attended 24/7?? I finally gave up and went to bed. The following morning I went downstairs to speak with a manager and the gentleman was nice and said he wasn't the manager but wanted me to address my concerns. After telling him everything he said he assured me that everything would be resolved. I never received a phone call or follow up from management. The advertised price online on multiple sites was 42 dollars per night with no mention of a resort fee. So they've figured out the smart way to draw people in with a low price and then hit them with the surprise resort fee. So with taxes and fees instead of $188 for 3 nights I'm paying $300! Went down to speak to a manager and there's not one on site. Spoke to Monica and she seems to be the only...
Read moreWe saw so many 1 star reviews that my fiance' and I we're honestly terrified to stay here. She was literally in tears at first. We had already booked through hotels.com in a mad dash to secure a place because we're admittedly procrastinators and my vacation I put in for my 30th birthday was scheduled to begin in less than 2 days. Before doing some actual Google searches and looking beyond the star review from the booking site (remember their only goal is to fill rooms) and the comment reviews they had privately listed which did not display the immense amount of negative guest scrutiny, there was nothing we could do at the time so we showed up reluctantly. We came down to Miami Beach as a celebration for my big "dirty 30" and we're expecting to most likely eat the loss of the cost of 3 nights minimum and get a place at somewhere we were familiar with. Well... This place turned out to be an ABSOLUTE GEM! I can honestly say I have no idea how they've received as many 1 star reviews as they have! To start, when my fiance' told them it was my 30th birthday they upgraded our room to an apartment suite from a standard queen room which was fully outfitted with an amazing open floorplan which included a living room as you walk in with a sleeper sofa/flat screen TV, Kitchen with a mini fridge, stovetop and deep well sink, washer/dryer combo, mid-century-esque style dining table and very large bedroom with a large flat screen as well as a private entrance that greeted you with a nice chic patio set. Every staff member greeted us with a smile, laughed and joked with us which did nothing but improve our experience as well as our comfortability after planning in walking into a disaster. They're awesome! We brought a plethora of cleaning products believing we'd have to go to town cleaning the place to feel comfortable... NOPE! No over abundance of disinfectant product smells as I've seen mentioned in many other reviews. Everything was clean, folded and placed perfectly for us to lay down and relax after the nearly 4 hour drive here. To ice off the cake for my actual birthday we were greeted at the door with a nice chilled bottle of vino! It was actually a really nice surprise. All in all the only thing I could even remotely complain about is the cable, it's limited. A very valuable hotel hack... Bring an Amazon fire TV Stick! When not out enjoying the town we've been able to enjoy all of our favorite streaming services (finally finished squid games late night after a few nights out in the town hah) so it's honestly not a complaint for me just something I know most people might have an issue with. If you stayed at this hotel and had a negative experience I would recommend giving them another try it truly seems like they've stepped up their game! 5 stars all day! Definetly went above and beyond for us and we both felt it was worth every last penny.
(Obviously we may have just had a great room, (doesn't change the excellent service from the staff) if you can reserve room 4401 in bldg. 6605 you can literally see your car from your window, we've been parked no more than 15-20 ft from our room along with many other guests who have stayed in the apartment style suites throughout our entire stay. Pay the extra couple bucks a night and grab a suite! I'd be willing to bet atleast 90% of the bad reviews came from the actual hotel on the inside which honestly looked very nice especially for the price but when it comes to Mid Beach Miami the price of the suite is well worth it. This hotel would probably we nothing but 5/5's if they just improved the in-hotel apartments.)
WE WILL DEFINETLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AND WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK! Thank you to everyone at Oceanside who helped make my 30th birthday perfect!
Extra Thanks to Zack and Carol from the...
Read moreOur daughter and her husband gifted my husband and I this trip due to death in our family It was supposed to be a getaway in search of peace in the middle of a family storm
Not sure what to say of this experience It was difficult try to navigate the tiny entrance way I with our vehicle to check in; especially considering we have an XL SUV.
Young attendant checking us in was very nonchalant and non-informative didn’t tell us anything of importance until we asked where to park and he proceeded to say they don’t offer parking. So we had to ask him, well, where do we park?? He then hands us a paper with a few nearby garages and pay to park locations. So then we ask him, ok so how do we get to our room. We literally had to ask him everything and it was like pulling teeth. I mean dude if you don’t like your job, get another one. Nothing spoke customer service about this place.
Room was ok, not the cleanest but bearable. Saw a few stray hairs in the bathroom on the floor, no bags in the wastebaskets, no hand drying towel loud slamming noises at night which we soon realized it was probably people closing their toilet lids and letting them fall shut; we made that mistake once and soon realizing how loud and heavy the toilet lid was. Bed was clean and so was everything else.
However, the next day my key stopped working because I had them together in my pocket when my husband and I went out. So we left the bad key in the room so we wouldn’t get it mixed up with the other one. We remembered on our way back in and stopped by the front desk to get a replacement. The same guy that checked us in was working and he said we had to have both keys to get them replaced because if he fixed one of them the other wouldn’t work anymore. We didn’t want to come back down once we went to the room, so we decided to do it at a later time.
Next day comes and we go out to the beach we call down to the front desk and ask if they have beach towels and surprisingly they did. We go sign the towels out and enjoy our day at the beach. Upon our arrival back to the hotel and headed to the front to drop our towels off there was a new front desk attendant. She is the only reason this post reached 3 stars. I would have given it a 1 star rating if it wasn’t for her. Monica was the true definition of quality customer service. She was pleasant, friendly and service with a smile. Monica was so helpful, offered us a list of things to do and places to go that we didn’t have to ask for! We told her maybe next time and appreciated her recommendations. We told her about some of our experience so far and she was very empathetic toward our experience. We told her about our key not working and immediately she fixed it and did t need the other one! Monica said she could just make a replicate of the same key and didn’t have to have the other one and it would still work! I mean just wow! The other guys could have have done the same thing! I mean if companies knew the importance in hiring quality over quantity you would see the difference...
