Mexi Cafe — Restaurant in Miami Beach

I love the hidden gem restaurants, and this certainly qualifies. It's not super obvious from Collins Ave because of a hedge in front of it and subtle signage -- just look for the 6300 sign on the front wall. That's the hidden part.

The gem parts are the food, the workers and the comfortable atmosphere. There are a few tables outside and a few seats at an inside counter. It's an open kitchen so you can see everything being prepped and cooked. They were scratch making their salsa verde while i was there. The staff was super friendly and helpful.

My wife and I are not big eaters, so we split the Huevos Rancheros for breakfast and it filled us both. It was 2 sunnyside eggs with good refried beans and fresh guac, covered with a delicious red sauce, and served with homemade tortilla chips. Excellent flavors from each component.

For the quality and portions, we felt Mexi Cafe offers good value.

I got the food delivered and it is packed very well in good environment safe containers. The food was delivered very quickly as well. I got Chicken tacos, Large Quesadilla (chicken) and a choco chip cookie. I got their house-made spicy red sauce which was not as spicy. The chicken tacos were simple with boiled shredded chicken, onions and cilantro; there was no option to choose your tortilla and they give Corn tortilla which I am not a big fan of. There is a good amount of chicken but its very bland and flavourless, and the sauce did not add any flavor either, so that was disappointing. The quesadilla is very large, full of chicken and loads of cheese, its good in terms of taste and portion. We ordered a mexi bowl chicken and a burrito that was a steak at 1:57pm. Found out 40mins later they have no steak so my buddy had to change it to pork. Went inside around 2:40pm asking where was the food and the whole cafe was empty. Cashier said 5 mins and we waited another 15mins after our friends got their order already with similar items. Literally went to ask the cashier on the food again just for them to pack it right in front of us. The food legit took almost one hour for a burrito bowl and a burrito chicken. Ridiculous long and the food was ok. No compensation or apologies. Not eating here again. Not sure why it’s a 5 star restaurant on google when it’s got the worst service and super slow to where I can go shower across at the hotel and come back to food that’s not even ready for us to eat!
