Miami 🌴 2 Days 1 Night | Ultimate Guide to Eating, Staying, and Exploring

Overall, my experience was disappointing with the Blue Moon. I will start with the positive though. Most of the staff (with the exception of the gentleman who checked me in) was pleasant and helpful. The general manager for both autograph collections was also friendly and knowledgeable. The lobby had a beautiful interior, and the bar was fantastic. I also appreciated the breakfast in the morning. The pool was small but nice, generally not crowded and you could get a good amount of sun during the day. Also the location itself is central and has easy access to the beach and night life. The beach chairs and bikes were also worth the resort fee. Now to the not so good. As a platinum member your upgrade options are limited (I knew this going in), but when I asked the gentleman who checked me in about one, or a bigger room, he was curt and dismissive. I also did not receive a welcome champagne... but everyone else around me did. Seemed like they did not like me for whatever reason but I’ll let that one slide. Also it should be noted I emailed Efrain before arriving about an upgrade... still no response and it has been 2 weeks. They were also doing demolition behind that rumbled the building. They did apologize but we had no “heads up”. Now to the bad. The elevator was rough to operate and we had very little help. Actually to the point of a minor injury. The carpets (see attached) had stains in the hallway. The room was small, dirty, one of the cabinets did not close, and the floor was not level (hard to see from the picture but see attached). Folks you can say your hotel is a boutique experience, but for me you all need a major (easy) renovation and I made that clear with Marriott. The room was also musty smelling and the layout was that of a college dorm. Final verdict: the hotel is cute, but not worth it. It felt like a category 2 days inn when in the room. Maybe a good place for one night, but prolonged stays is a no go. I would HIGHLY recommend the Marriott Stanton for longer stays. Helpful staff, clean rooms, and a beautiful hotel.

I would not stay here again. This was our experience: The room was horrible. It smelled moldy and humid and musky inside, and perhaps not surprisingly, the bathroom was covered with wet stains in the ceiling. The shower was the worst experience I’ve had in a hotel, by far. Even after trying different things, the shower head would not stay locked in, and it would move to the right, as if it was showering the curtain. So water went everywhere, from the curtain, onto the sink and the mirror, and of course the floor. The only way to shower and actually have water on your body, was to hold the shower head with one hand, then put it down, lather your head or your body, and then pick up the shower head so you can rinse. And then repeat. This was horrendous. The whole bathroom floor was soaking wet. And there were multiple cracked tiles and rust all over the faucets. And in addition to that, the air filters also had to be changed. As soon as you turned on the air conditioner, it smelled horribly. And it was the same with heat. Unfortunately, we had to keep it on overnight, because the rooms were not sound proof and we could hear everything being said in the hallway and in the lobby. And I mean everything. The steps of people walking up and down, their conversations and laughter, employees going in and out the doors, the whole thing. It was very unpleasant. On the other hand, the front desk person (JP) was truly amazing. He did a great job manning that desk. He was very courteous, friendly and welcoming. If it was not for him, I think the experience would have been much worse.

I’d highly recommend going anywhere BUT this hotel. Only stayed one night (last night) and I would never ever recommend it. I’ve been a frequent traveler to Miami staying in some amazing ones - some right on the water, some overlooking the city - and never in 12 years did I have an experience like this. Let’s start with the cons;

Every negative review you’ve read before this - spot on. Pay attention because every person who wrote what was wrong about this hotel was 100% right!!

They charged 5 couples all different rates. From $219 to over $500. The Veteran rate was not the same across the board and the front desk’s treatment of them was rude & disrespectful- from the young lady the first night who apparently was never informed she is in the Customer service field and actually has to be nice to people (she’s not at a doggy daycare which is probably where she belongs so she doesn’t have to interact with humans) to the guy (I’d say gentleman but I’ll reserve that for men who are genuinely that - like the bellhop or the Bartender. Put them in charge seeing as they were kind, fun, pleasant, respectful, & all around nice guys) when we asked why we didn’t all get the same military rate (then tried to argue with me, ended up being so wrong it was comical , and never apologized,) Disgusting behavior. The hotel was founded by a man who lived in a generation of entertainers & couples who enjoyed the finer things in life but also understood what RESPECT meant (I know because I was raised by one) -they’d probably roll over in their grave if they saw what a lot of us did at this place

2, The pool is not what the photos show. It’s incredibly small and unless you have children under the age of 5 - you won’t be doing any kind of swimming (think jacuzzi on steroids)

Rooms are musty, little air conditioning, & uncomfortable bed.

You must pay ahead of time (with your room) for “INCLUDED” continental breakfast. That’s a lie - it’s not included at all. (Now THAT was funny - not really but I almost couldn’t believe what I was hearing lol. “ Ohhhhh Your included breakfast? Oh no that’s just a joke”. WHHHATT? Worked out - we went to a great Cuban restaurant that didn’t require me sacrificing my first born child.

Pros: Ummmmm Loved the people I was with Bartender and bellhop were super nice guys who I told they should go work someplace way better. Close to Wet Willies and Mangos I literally can’t think of anything else - OH! They had FREE water with lemon & lime in the lobby!

I know the owners won’t do anything with this review because they’re sitting pretty in mansions in N.H. BUT I do hope it helps other travelers. For the love of God if you want a great hotel with breakfast and other amenities and honest people go...

So let’s start this off with a positive and then we can get to the real deal. On arrival the manager Alex (I do believe that was his name) was very attentive and helpful. A bit un professional with the language used, which I can assure you will come back to light in this review very shortly. The room, kinda small. No big deal. The air con and fan kept it cool. One evening my gf went up to the room to grab something and a staff member was attempting to enter the room despite the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door, when questioned why he was trying to enter he mumbled something about seeing if the maid had cleaned andwalked off. I went and questioned the manager on duty and they couldn’t even be sure who it was. Sketchy. Which now brings me back to Alex, who would attempt to bro down with me every time I walked through the lobby. Fine… I like a good talk. HOWEVER, one evening my gf went downstairs to smoke and he was trying to get her to go smoke a joint with him. She refused and then he started with the “no disrespect to your man but you’re so fine” and commented on what she was wearing and how it was see through etc. Guess what you caricature of a typical sleaze ball bish, that is disrespect. And you best believe your luck that my girl didn’t tell me until we were out of country to stop me from taking you out mid shift to the street and stomping you out. And if you think I’m playing, try me. I’m not above coming down there next time I’m state side. On top of that they charge things to your bill and when emailed about it afterwards when the charges show up, no reply. And no reply from their parent company either. So I’ll lay it all out here. Stay here at...
