Overall-the location is where you benefit from staying at this hotel. That is pretty much it.
Check in:
We checked in on a Saturday evening. The rooms were not ready when we called at around 5 (rooms are supposed to be guaranteed at 4). We kept calling a couple of times after and our room was still not ready. Our room was ready by 9pm.
They do not mention a resort fee per night when you book. They mentioned it at check-in. We paid 136 dollars for 4 nights (on top of what we already paid for our stay). This amount you do not get back. They took $150 for incidentals (this you do get back-apparently, we will see in “some business days” -as stated by Tina)
They have valet for your car which they charge 40 dollars a night. I paid 160 for the 4 nights we stayed.
They did not assist with bringing any of our luggage to the room. Even under the circumstances of us checking into our room at 9pm!
We took the trolly from the lobby and packed our stuff and rolled it into the smallest elevator that seemed like it was going to break while on it.
I wanted to put some bags in my car one of the nights and the night time front desk worker (named Luz-I had to ask Tina for her name and she was very hesitant to give me her name. But the night time front desk was Spanish with brownish/blondish hair)
Luz said I can walk over myself and put my stuff in there. She said “no one is stopping me from getting into my car” and again insisting I can go myself. She was so rude and just a nasty attitude. I don’t understand why the staff (Tina and Luz) were so nasty! You work in hospitality!
I insisted in speaking to manager and the manager was never in. Everyday you do not have a manager in? Lies.
Pictures on website are not reality:
We booked the superior queen room which was the size of a closet. As we were investigating the room we found the following:
Smoke alarm out of its socket Refrigerator not plugged in Lamp shades ripped Comforter ripped Toilet paper holder broken Soap dispenser broken AC leaking Pull out table by the Safe had some dirt inside
I took pictures of all of these things and showed it to the front desk. Again, her name was Tina. She said “this is not okay” and took pictures off of my phone of all the horrible things in the room. At first I thought she really understood how bad this was. She stated that she can get us a complimentary upgrade into a better room. I was so excited and ran up to my room to pack my things for a new and better room. Not even 2 minutes later, Tina calls my room and says “I am not able to give you the upgrade, I am sorry.” I asked “ what happened? two minutes ago you checked the system and you said you were able to give me the upgrade.”
All that Tina said was “I am sorry” there was no explanation given, even when I kept asking what happened, all Tina said was “I am sorry” (WEIRD!-an explanation would have been a normal response and I would have accepted her explanation. But all I got was I’m sorry.)
Tina stated that maintenance can go and fix all the things that I took pictures of that were broken or ripped in the room. The things were fixed-thanks maintenance.
The next night as we were sleeping, the fire alarm went off and we had to run out of the hotel in our pajamas. The fire department came and shut off the alarm. Apparently, guest at the hotel was smoking in their room and set it off. If that was true-I will not blame Fairwinds for that but it was definitely a heart stopping scare that night.
The roof top was nice but no bartender or anyone actively working the rooftop.
Fairwinds, the attitude of your staff needs a real upgrade, along with your hotel. I understand it is in the perfect location, but you can be a little nicer especially for the amount of money you charge per night and the secret resort fee. There is really no explanation for any of the treatment so please do not respond to my review with any sort of justification. Upgrade the staff and at least plug...
Read moreThe ONLY thing I can say about this motel is that the location is good! Overall The service is horrible. I’m here for 5 days for an anniversary. My husband choice this spot but was fooled by the pictures online because the room didn’t look nothing to those standards. Alex the manager didn’t show any accommodation to me Being booked as a VIP Gold member under Expedia. The perks was to have a free upgrade, 20% percent on food or drinks, earlyand late check out. Well that NEVER happened with the upgrade instead 2 women that checked us in states no upgrade was available upon my arrival that they would call me when it becomes available well that night a nice young lady with purple hair stated there was one available that night I checked in & put note In for morning shift to see, came down the next morning and Alex stated it’s not available also was told we would pay for a upgrade and he still didn’t want to accommodate us but to us no I can upgrade for free(which my VIP perks suppose to be) when one becomes Available when he was told the lady last night said it was one he said she new and she didn’t know what she was doing.(wow) room was to be sold through 3rd party (well me I was booed under 3rd party) and still he wouldn’t let us upgrade or buy. Every since I checked In this place it’s been nothing but chaos with nobody on the same page nor anyone trying to accommodate my stay (even when I wanted to pay for upgrade) Then I checked in to NO face towels in the room, had to call for towels and when reliever each day they Only gave me 2 face towels, left room came back bed only have sheets used as the cover so being a blanket, then room after housekeeping only left one face towel and 3 big dry towels, had to call for another face towel for my husband and hand towels. Sole next to hotel has GREAT FOOD but pretty pricey but it’s Miami that’s to be expected. But the customer service at Fairwind by management Alex was horrible(maybe he only caters to his kind idk) parking was $40 per day but to only learn that night after paying for parking and using valet the day of check in 3 times to come back that night to ne told they don’t have a car charger for electric cars(someone should have said something after they been parking my car that morning(smh) NOTHING have been good since I been staying here. I’ve also informed Expedia about referring VIP Gold Members here because we get treated like we are no one and they don’t fully honor our perks. I own multiple Buisness and they clearly didn’t know who I was and that’s great but I will never return nor recommend this hotel to none of my important friends and business partners. Also room is small and dark bare floors so wear slippers. No soap dish holder inside shower either so I had to keep holding my soap bar that I bought vs using the liquid soap on the wall in my handle put on...
Read moreCame here from NYC to celebrate my friends birthday.. let me start by saying this hotel is a GEM for location. Your right on the strip, near CVS for your daily needs, casual wing spot right next door to hotel, Ice cream shop, your a block away from the beach, you can't beat that . The hotel also has daily specials, happy hour, brunch till 4, a cute outdoor area for photos, with good music. Now let's get to the interior, Hotel is very clean, all I seen staff doing was cleaning. Hotel front desk Tere, was very helpful, and sweet, my key card kept malfunctioning, and she didn't seem annoyed about it. She fixed the issue and I was on about my day, this happened about 8 times, during the duration of my stay lol not joking . Also KATIANNA, she took the cake for me . I had went out to eat and had leftovers, and a souvenir cup .. I didn't want to go back upstairs, so I asked may I leave them with her, due to my ride being outside and ready to go like now! She simply smiled, labeled my items, and said no worries they'll b here when you arrive. I didn't return till about 6 a.m... Katianna was right there waiting on me , with my food and souvenir in hand. She was so happy to help and made me feel appreciated. Now .. let's get to what we can do to make this hotel a little more well rounded. Elevator, I didn't like the long waits, with only one Elevator that was hard for me to cope with. It gets crowded, and during the day, you'll be waiting for a minute lol. Housekeeping, my room could've been cleaned better . The mirrors were never cleaned, sink was half cleaned, didn't like that, the only thing I did like was the trash was emptied , and the beds were remade, but you have to do better with attention to detail. This is coming from someone who is in the hospitality business. Attention to detail is everything, Pool was nice , it's on the rooftop, and has nice views, you can see the beach a block away, beach umbrellas, and a bar up there, it's get crowded during midday, so go early like 9/10, they had good music up there. I enjoyed the sun up there. Rooms are a good size, could use some more lighting in certain areas, but they look as pictured online, which is a good thing. The balcony was also a cute size, good for 2 people. At night, it's a nice view, depending on your room location. I was on the 4th floor. I would stay here again, as I am hoping to see some improvements in certain areas, thank you...
