They don't have any options for real dairy, that I know of, which I'd prefer personally to the almond milk teas they have. To my tastes their teas are always way too sweet, sometimes even if I put the 25% option for sweetness. Overall the teas are fine, and it's a convenient location with nice ambiance so I still go occasionally. I don't like that the kiosks ask you for a tip when you put in your order because they don't even take your order, you do it yourself and they aren't doing any service for you that in my opinion would deserve a tip. I think they also have a tip jar out as well. I did have an issue where one day I and a family member put our orders in through the kiosk and then were told that it didn't go through and they had to put it in manually. I could tell it already charged my card because I get pinged on my phone when my card is charged, and mentioned it at the time but they assured me that the first charge would not go through and charged us a second time when they put it in manually. Of course both charges went through and it took weeks and multiple frustrating visits in person to sort that out. Most people would have given up since it was only about $20 that was incorrectly charged to us but the principle of it bothered me. They did finally refund us the duplicate charges but it was...
Read moreMu Mu Tea does the brown sugar boba right.
Mu Mu Tea is a boba cafe located right outside the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis. I came here after having dinner at a restaurant next door and I'm glad I did.
The cafe itself is clean, always busy with students, and has plenty of places to sit. The smell of freshly made wheel cakes will tempt even the strongest. It focuses on the student crowd of the nearby university so you'll see plenty studying here.
I was also surprised to see that this place had brown sugar boba available. I've seen plenty of people post about this boba and was delighted to see that they make it authentically to some of its better-known counterparts.
The price may be a bit higher for those used to boba. Yet the quality is well worth the price tag. They did take a bit of time to make my order. But I can't blame them for that. The place was a bit crowded when I got here.
Wouldn't mind coming back.

Read moreI'm not sure what they do to the mochi but it's very dense, crumbly and super starchy. Not mochi-like at all. I took one bite of the oreo mochi and knew I had to return it because it was genuinely inedible. The girl working was very understanding and nice about it and gave us donuts instead. However, she acted like she was completely aware of the fact that there was something wrong with the mochi, so I dont understand why they would keep selling them. That single bite gave me a stomach ache for the rest of the night.
I've been to this place 4 times and I've been disappointed every time. The milk teas I've had there have been overly sweet with very little flavor. The guava yakult drink tasted like liquid sunscreen somehow. The donuts and cheesecake are okay but the mochi is a health hazard. Please do not get it.
I'm not coming back to this place and I'd avoid it...
