Unfortunately the service was so bad it ruined the meal, even though the food was not that bad (at least what I ordered). There was a waiting list to sit outside since the weather was beautiful and barely any people were eating inside. There was a pungent odor of what smelled like a sink drain permeating throughout the building which made the inside dining unappealing. After waiting for about 20 to 30 minutes for an outside table, and being the only one on the queue, I had to go back up to the staff and ask them why we had not been seated yet whenever the queue had emptied. The staff seems confused and started looking on there screen and realized that there was a technical issue and seated us right away. Despite this, I still didn't have any issues since I know things happen and people make mistakes and/or technology failes. After being seated at our table, no one ever came to take or drinks or orders. Once I was about to get up from my chair, a waiter came up and took our orders. (We had already been sitting at the table for another 30 minutes at this point.) Once our food came out, the waiter would walk by our table and ignore us. Nothing that we had said or done warranted such behavior. After some time when on, a manager came and asked us how we were doing. I explained to her that my crab sandwich came with very little onions, and politely asked for more. She said that she would get some, and then never came back to our table, even though she passed our table multiple time throughout the evening. Our waiter did not come back to our table until we were about done eating and by then, there was no use to ask for extra onions. The waiter also passed us multiple times and would never on us. I eventually got up out out of my seat and then the waiter almost immediately came up to us and (sarcasticly sounding) asked us if we needed anything. At this point, I told her to bring us our check and we left. My food was not even that bad (despite the lack of onion) but I will NOT come back here again to be...
Read moreFirst time at Pier 14 and it was the best restaurant we ate at while in town. We got to eat outside and enjoy the ocean and sun. Restaurant had only been open a week for the new year. Food was fabulous. Hush puppies reminded me of corn bread with whole pieces of corn and were so good. Food was fresh and hot. Staff was attentive and even manager checked on us. They have a person come around and take pictures of your table. Nice touch of you want to purchase a souvenir picture. We exited to the pier and enjoyed the view after our meal. Our only issue was a menu price change caused us to be charged more for an entree than it read. They quickly corrected it and were great about it. Totally recommend. Can't wait to return!
Update: We returned 14 months later. Looking forward to this restaurant we visited our first day in town. First thing we noted the food I got last year was no longer available. Not being a lover of seafood this left me with very few choices. I opted for the fried chicken sandwich with fries. My husband got the same as he did last year, because he has dreamed about it all year. His was presented a little different. It seemed larger. He was just as satisfied with his meal this time around. I, on the other hand, felt the fries and chicken had a strong fish taste. Probably fried in the same grease. The hush puppies also had this taste. I did not experience this last year, because I left then lovin' what I had and couldn't wait to return on our next visit. Unfortunately, this time around does not have me wanting to return. So if you have any aversion to seafood, stay away from anything fried. I should have gone with dessert to be totally safe! Service was quick. We were able to eat outside. Waitress was somewhat attentive, but came across as not wanting to be there with a lack of the personable skills needed while attending to customers. Quite the opposite was the girl that brought our food. Very personable and seemed genuinely concerned about serving our food with the...
Read moreTLDR: Eat here. Good food, reasonably priced for tourist pricing, nice atmosphere, friendly staff.
Ok, so initially, the wait was about 45 minutes for a table of 5 at about 6 pm. Seating outside was zero wait time, though, so we opted to sit outside. When we got it there it was a bit cold and VERY windy. The waiter approached us and let us know that the only two tables outside had been "reseated" 12 times that evening due to cold and wind. He was kind enough to let us know this before we ordered (before we even got seated), and he was 100% on the spot. This man gave up a 5 top to look out for us. We went back inside and got on the queue to be seated inside. 10 minutes later, our 30-45 minute wait was over, and we were seated in another section.
Our new waiter was extremely busy, but the service was decent. We did have to remind him of a couple of items we requested (lemon for our water and ketchup for fries), but overall, decent service.
The food was good:
Fish and chips was hot, cooked correctly, and tasted very good. Served with plenty of tartar sauce. They were generous with the fries.
"The crustacean" is a boneless chicken breast topped with scallops and shrimp in an Alfredo sauce. It came with garlic mashed potatoes. Very, very good. (Times 2)
Chicken dinner was two boneless skinless chicken breasts topped with BBQ or teriyaki (eldest child chose teriyaki). This came with garlic mashed potatoes. It must have been good because she ate every last bite.
The youngest child ordered the cheeseburger. This came with a very GENEROUS portion of fries. The burger was larger than expected and also apparently very good as she was the first to finish and ate everything except the red onions and tomato.
Halfway through the meal, a manager stopped by just to check in us and asked how things were. (I made sure to heap praise on the first waiter for being so selfless.)
If you are hungry and in the area,...
