MUST READ--THE ONLY REVIEW YOU NEED TO READ!!!!!!!!!!! My family and I stayed at the St. Clements for a Recent Vacation. I booked here because it was affordable and offered two separate bedrooms. It also had a bed near a balcony which we wanted so during the night we could listen to waves!
After reading multiple reviews I felt as though I could not get a good sense of what to expect since the reviews were all over the place. I was almost beginning to regret the booking but then after calling the registration hotline and speaking to Althea (SHOUT OUT TO ALTHEA SORRY IF I MISPELLED THE NAME), she answered my questions and assured me I would not regret it and if I was unhappy with the room I could return to the front desk to handle the situation, so I went ahead an continued with the booking to give it a try.
She was right and I did not regret a thing!
This is what I experienced:
The Property IS clean! - Despite many bad reviews about cleanliness, the property, the elevators, and the hallway ARE Clean. Our room was clean but not like in the way you would expect. Don't think Hilton Clean but rather if a family member has deep cleaned their home for you! Since the suites are independently owned - furnishings and décor belong to the owner so some things may look a bit worn but they are clean!
The Property IS Functional! - The property is not modern but it is functional. Everything in the suite worked and functioned. I am not super picky but I like things to be nice so I was not looking for high end appliances or anything super fancy. The property was clean, the elevators worked, the carpets were clean. Inside the suite the beds were comfortable (one was a pillow top and the other memory foam), it came with stove, full fridge, a dishwasher, and is fully stocked with cookware and utensils.
The Housekeepers were SUPER SWEET! - Despite it stating otherwise on the website and it still being COVID, our house keepers stopped by our rooms every morning to collect towels, trash, and replace any and everything we needed. They even gave us extras like coffee, dish liquid, and pillows.
We checked in EARLY-- We drove to the Myrtle Beach from the mid west and after explaining our situation to the Front Desk, they let us know our room was ready. We were able to check in 2 hours early and we stayed in room 409!
You DO have access to all of the Caravelle Amenities - They make it super easy to get to the main resort. It is just a 2 min walk away. Everyone was super friendly. Pools, Breakfast, Ice Cream, Game Room, etc!
Parking takes some SKILLS-- One of the only cons (or sort of a con) was the parking. They do have plenty of parking but they have pillars that you have to maneuver around to get the parking garage. Be careful not to scratch your car but once we got the hang of it everything was fine.
The Murphy Bed--- The Queen size Murphy bed in the living room where my husband and I slept was interesting. At first, we were not impressed and it was a down side for me because it didn't have the initial "WOW" hotel bed feel for me. But after pulling the bed down, making the bed, and adding more pillows..it was perfect for us. Sometimes you have to let the small stuff go!
The OceanView is AMAZING--- Despite having a bit of a small balcony, the view was amazing. We did not book the Oceanfront because the Oceanview was cheaper. However, we did not feel like we missed anything. Perfect for coffee in the mornings and people watching!
They now have a continuous customer. The Hotel is literally in the middle of everything. We were only 15 minutes away from everything Broadway on the Beach, Tanger Outlets, Restaurants and Foods, Mini Golf Courses, Museums and Attractions. We couldn't have picked a better location. This location is perfect if you are walking too!
TRY IT OUT-- I promise you will not be disappointed. I spent so much time worrying about the suite that I realized I was worried for literally no reason! Overall, my family truly enjoyed our Vacation and WE WILL...
Read moreWe stayed at St Clements in room 702, an Airbnb room. When we arrived we threw our bags in the room and left for the beach. First day as we were leaving for dinner we realized the lock to the door was broken. After about an hour of back and forth messaging the host sent out a locksmith. The next morning my husband said he saw a cockroach. As that day progressed we saw 2 more near the patio window in broad daylight!!! That evening as he got up to use the restroom he saw 3 larger cockroaches in the sink. He told me in the morning because I fell asleep putting the kids to sleep lol. We then moved our personal bags to our rental car. We contacted our Airbnb host and an Airbnb representative that we had now seen multiple cockroaches. She assured us this was the first time hearing this and she said an exterminator would be out in the morning. The Airbnb representative also said they would be in contact in the morning about the situation. As we were putting the kids to bed the remote fell behind the TV stand. We moved it to retrieve it and about 20 cockroaches ran out amist a pile of neglected debris. The furniture had not been moved in what looks like 6 months to a year to clean under. Under the couch was the same situation. I was so disgusted and needed to be gone from there asap. We packed up the rest of our belongings and went to a hotel. I contacted the host and Airbnb to let them know what was going on. We were refunded most of our money but the host told Airbnb she was upholding her cancelation policy and keeping a portion of our money..... I do not believe I canceled. I showed for my reservation and was subjected to a roach motel. Recent reviews for this location, room 702, state just 2 weeks prior guest stayed and that the room was so clean. These reviews have to be from friends or made up usernames because this kind of neglect took months to get like this. I will never stay in this building again due to the neglect and sanitary conditions. I have never had this experience on any...
Read moreRead moreSpend your money elsewhere! My Husband, Grandson, and I spent 10 days at this place in room 405.We checked in on the 13th and out the 25th.We were paid up until the 27th but as I was making the bed in the living room I happened upon a bedbug which then had us packing immediately to leave. The room was horrible anyway and the second one we were put in. The first unit did not have water in the kitchen sink and the TV would not come one so we requested another room and it was 405.In 405,the curtains must have been at least 20 years old. The lining on the backside was all shredded like a dog had done it. It was off the rail on one side so there was a wide space with no curtain and they did not come together properly in the center. The sofa bed couch is very small, dirty, and sits very low. The wooden table rocked as did the chairs that went with it. There is no place to store dry goods so that was a big hassle for us. The TV is mounted to the wall in the most awkward space you can imagine so you had to duck to get to one side of the bed. Thank goodness we took a skillet because there was not one in the unit and the electric can opener did not work either. The floors were absolutely gross! I slept in the back bedroom and I am the one with most of the bedbug bites even though the one we saw was on the king bed in the living room. A ceiling tile fell out over the microwave that sit's on top of the fridge. We are livid over this and we should receive an entire refund for the amount we spent. I told the lady{Amy at office} about the bug the morning we left and she did refund us for the two days because we were leaving early and she said the room would be inspected but that is all I know. St. Clements used to be an awesome place but it is going downhill very fast and we will never stay there again. The positivesBalcony, close to the beach, refrigerator, and the microwave. That's it! The two photo's are exactly 6 days after we left and I am still dealing with the itch! We...
