HORRIBLE!! The worst experience I have had in my 20 years of traveling for my job!! The rooms are disgusting and the carpets are nasty and haven't been cleaned in years. The overweight older lady at the front desk (Renee) was extremely rude every single time we had to encounter her. The owner Robbie has extremely bad hygiene. There were three housekeepers there that were the absolute worst I have dealt with in my years of traveling. We spent 5 months there for my job and the entire time we were treated very poorly. My wife did not want to be sitting around in the room so she got a job doing housekeeping there and within the first week I made her quit because of the embarrassment she had to endure from the housekeepers not wanting to do their job. They refused to put a trash can up stairs for the guests to put their trash in. Instead they put notes in the hallways stating that if we did not take our own trash to the dumpsters they were going to contact our company that we were working for. When my wife went downstairs to ask what we are supposed to be doing with the trash the lady pointed towards the dumpsters. My wife ask her why we had to take our own trash to the dumpsters and why the housekeepers would not take it like they do the other guests the lady replied "because you guys are just workers and you don't pay for your own room". My wife then tried to explain to her that it was per diem that paid for our room and that was in fact my money that was paid to me from the company. She called her a liar and then told her that we weren't even married! My wife informed her that we will not be taking our own trash to the dumpsters that that is the housekeepers job because we are paying guests just like anybody else staying there. She got very mad and started yelling at my wife saying all kinds of vulgar things. My wife came back up to the room crying wondering why they were treating all of us like this. They then called my place of employment and complained stating that my wife was a problem because she was not going to allow them to treat everyone like trash. The whole time we were there they tried to get me fired more than twice because my wife would not let them bully her. My wife is an extremely sweet kind-hearted woman but when being bullied for so long she took a stand for herself and they did not like that at all. I'm sure they're going to read this and try to blame it on something else like they do with a lot of other people that have had bad experiences at this particular location. To sum it all up I suggest you avoid this location at all cost. You would be wasting your money thinking that you were getting a quality room. Dirty rundown motel, trashy Petty people and most definitely not worth a fraction of what they charge. The only two things positive about the entire place was the front desk lady named Julia and the breakfast lady named Emily they were extremely professional the entire time and actually apologized for the unprofessionalism of the other employees and owner. And yes I still work for the same company just going to a better location👌 in fact I work for multiple companies including my own!! There's only a couple people from the crew staying at this trashy location the rest of the crew moved across the street because of the horrible staff at...
Read moreThere are a lot of inexpensive and clean places in this town. What sets this one apart it's the awesome people they've collected. I wish I could remember all their names, but Jennifer and Renee went above and beyond, often.
This hotel used to be a different chain, and was purchased, renovated, and added onto several years ago. There is definitely a noticeable difference between the old section and the new, but it is all updated and clean. Speaking of the new section, the room doors in the new area are the nicest doors I've ever laid eyes on.
For my stay, which was several months in duration, everything was not perfect, despite the five stars I must give them for quality service. Bear in mind, on a long enough timeline, there is bound to be problems. It's how an establishment deals with those challenges is the metric they should be reviewed on.
So here's the problems I had over my long tenure there, and how they rectified them.
I got there a day early, and due to reservation issues they had to put me in a different room for the first night.
They still started my reduced weekly rate on the first night, and let me put my luggage in the office so my work truck would be clear and I wouldn't have to drag everything from upstairs to down the next night.
Breakfast started an hour after I left for work.
They started getting my Best Western Grab n Go breakfasts made up early. Certain faculty would even heat some of the hot food up early so I could bring sausage biscuits with me on the way out the door.
The coin-op washer was broke for several days. Briefly fixed, then quickly broke again (sigh, pipeliners).
After it became an issue, they ended up letting me use the one in the back. Housekeeping even returned it all hot and folded.
I had nothing to do on Sunday's.
The afforementioned Jennifer really stepped up here. She knew the area well, and sent me to all kinds of places I would have likely missed otherwise. I have a child, and there is a fantastic park and pool a few miles up the road. [Name of Park]
She also told me about Warther's museum. If you're in this area, you must take the guided tour and learn about this amazing man.
She would take the time to write down phone numbers, addresses, and directions of several places, whether I had actually committed to going or not. She was also hip to all the local events in the surrounding areas.
The indoor pool was freezing.
I never complained about this, my son just never swam for long. Unless you're pretty dedicated, I doubt you'll spend much time in here. I'd say the water was sub-75 degrees.
No hot tub and the fitness room was barebones with one machine, one treadmill, and no free weights.
But for all these problems, these people were just honestly so attentive and nice, and aimed to please, they are worth ten stars.
I once made it down to the breakfast room too late after sleeping in on a Sunday. The housekeeper in charge of the room saw me disappointment and tried like hell to let her get some stuff back out....
Read moreWe drove over 650 miles from central Missouri to eastern Ohio. We needed pet friendly, at 1:30 am, as the previous Inn we had contacted for a room, no one was attending in the office. We waited 20 minutes with the phone/office buzzer buzzing. Found “Bringfido” website and Sabina found this hotel with 1 room left in the middle of the night. OMG, Ravi was waiting for us, checked us in and it was the best 4 days there. All the staff was great! Ravi, Grace, Emily, and MaryAnn “Thank You”! ||Our chihuahua was not the least bit nervous being there, no other dog smells any where.||The room was quiet, you could not hear any sounds from the other rooms. The bed was soooo comfortable and linens and towels were fresh and clean. The breakfasts were varied and delicious, “waffles” WOW! We will definitely stay here again when we return to this area in Ohio again. There is more we want to see in this area. Again - THANK YOU to the owner and staff of BW Dutch Valley for a wonderful much delayed...
