This place has Hampton Inn prices & name, but is severely lacking the Hampton Inn quality I am accustomed to.
Check in was quick and easy, they have complimentary cookies at the front desk which was nice.
When entering the building it felt humid and musty, especially on the 3rd floor. There was also a faint smell of cigarette smoke.
The building needs some cosmetic repairs and updating. The carpet feels damp and just looks dirty like it needs steam cleaned. The furniture in the room was really outdated and scratched up. The beds were OK, not very comfortable but the linens were the typical Hampton Inn quality I'd expect.
There was a significant amount of dead bugs and dust in the windowsill and behind the bed, TV stand, and other furniture.
The bathroom was the main area of concern. The pipes under the sink need checked out. The tub needs repairs, the plug for the drain would not latch, the shower head is so loose it felt like it was going to fall off. The water at the sink comes rushing out with such force that it splashes everywhere. The night light and hair dryer were not functioning, unsure if they need replaced or if the outlet needs electrical maintenance.
The breakfast area was kept neat and clean. Good selection of food (omelet, breakfast meat, pancakes, French toast sticks, waffle mix to make your own, a variety of cereal, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, danishes and muffins) the only thing I would suggest would be fresh fruit options. There was yogurt and I alerted Marc at the front desk that it was expired (only by 4 days) and he apologized and threw it out and replaced with in-date yogurts. Also, plenty of drink options (apple juice, OJ, cranberry, milk, hot chocolate, hot tea (make your own) and coffee varieties. They also had a high chair which was a bonus for anyone traveling with a small child.
The pool area was ok. Plenty of seating, the water was comfortable and very clean. The hot tub looked like it was low on water and the jets did not put off much pressure. There is also a shower to rinse off after swimming which was a nice feature. Overall the area was kept clean and stocked with towels and there is 1 large bathroom that has a bench so you can set your stuff on if you choose to change there rather than your room.
Staff were friendly. It was an OK stay but I was disappointed in the quality of the hotel. I had chosen this hotel over other (& cheaper) options in the area because of the expectation of the quality at Hampton Inn, and was really disappointed. When we visit the area again I will stay at another chain hotel or drive a little further to stay at a different Hampton.
Overall, the quality is not worth the price. I'd say this stay with equivalent to a stay at an econo lodge...
Read moreWe stayed at this Hampton Inn for 4 nights 5 days. There were a few great things, and a few things not so good. The positives- The first 3 days the breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I have had. Each day, the options were different. Some of the options were cereal, oatmeal, eggs, potatoes, waffles, biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, and cheese omelets.. very good.. The lobby was very nice and clean. We reserved a meeting room for a U.S. Navy reunion and the room was nice. Accommodations for this room were great. The Negs- While in the breakfast area fixing coffee one morning, two of the cleaning staff came storming in. (Practically running) One said, "Here it is, the good sugar!" The other said, "Hurry and get it." As if the hotel guests might get it?? Weird! They got all of the sugar packets, looking around smiling as if they had won a prize. Each put about 8 or 10 packets in their coffee. They were acting like they were the first to get the newest iPhone or had won the lottery. I and all the other guests nearby just looked at them in confusion. It was awkward. Then there was the housekeeping- On the second day, our room wasn't cleaned. We asked about it, and we were told the rooms were cleaned every other day for guests staying multiple days unless requested. No problem, so our room would be cleaned the next day.... nope, it was not. So I asked again. This time a different employee told me the rooms were cleaned every third day unless requested. I said well we asked yesterday, and it wasn't cleaned, so can we for sure get our done today? He immediately called someone on a radio, and they answered saying our room was on the list and would be cleaned. Great! Nope, not great, our room was not cleaned again. So for our 4 nights/ 5 days in the room, no cleaning was done. We ran out of toilet paper and Kleenexes. Our trashes were running over, and we had to get clean towels twice. I informed them at the desk on the day of our checkout that this was unacceptable. One of the cleaning staff (one of the sugar eaters) approached me and said they didn't clean our room because when they knocked, someone said they didn't want it cleaned. I knew this wasn't true and so did she, so I told her "We were gone all morning, so if this is true, you had to have let someone in my room!" She said, "No, your do not disturb sign was on the door." I told her "No, it wasn't. We asked for the cleaning and left for the day, we did not put the sign on the door." She just said, "Oh, sorry." We found out that others in our group also did not get their rooms cleaned. So that's it, some good stuff, some bad. You can make your own call on this one. I can't recommend it, probably...
Read moreAs of July 2023 it looks like a lot of the remodel work many people are complaining about have been completed. The place still needs some landscaping and parking lot repairs but was ok.
The entrance looks ok, I think the network cable from the front security camera shouldn't hand down in front of the door but the door and the entrance was fine. Floors look new, New tiles and/or carpet, Front desk and breakfast area looked new and clean. At least on the 1st and 3rd floors all doors had the keycard locks now. I personally would prefer NFC that would open from the hilton app and my phone.
The pool is open, New tile, new paint, new chairs, generally a very clean area. I did notice that there appears to have been a hot tub at one time but that was removed, Wall controls still were on the wall. The one negative about the pool area was the handicap lift to the pool. The Bolts that hold it to the floor were very rusty as was the chair lift itself. Not sure I would want a loved on using it.
Breakfast was typical freebie, omlets, cereals, baked goods, some fruits along with coffee and juice choices.
Rooms were nice and remodeled, but wife did notice that the paint trim was pretty poor. Bathtub was VERY small, you could hardly turn around and with a handicap grab jutting out there was little room. Sink was new but seem to be a bit small..
For the person working from the room I checked on several occasions during our stay and was able to get 40-50Mpbs up and down so if you need to use the wifi work would you should be good. TV was large and new. Ton of channels but navigation was a little difficult. Room to plug your own HDMI devices(2) if you needed a second monitor or wanted to bring your own streaming device.
Room was nice and cool, AC worked great. Beds were supposed to be queens but they seemed to be small queens...
My big complaint in the room was there was a lot of door gap, Lots of light around all 4 corners of the room at night.
Don't expect much of a view, You had TSC or Walmart on one side or a overgrown treelined near a creek on the other.
Overall stay was good stay. Not a top end Hilton but as an older Hilton inn. it was ok...
