I don’t even know where to begin with this review… I wasn’t even going to leave one, but then I got the request for one in my email, so why not?
Tried to cancel booking the morning of our stay, due to a family emergency on the other side of the state, that’s fine. I was willing to eat the cost of the stay, it was 1 night ($87.00) oh well. Turned out to be a false alarm, called to verify we had a room available still- yes, we did! Yay! (Not at all lmao)
Arrived at the property and checked in and instantly smelled cigarette smoke in the lobby area (if you can even call it that). I will say, and this is the only compliment I can give this place, truthfully- the front desk clerk was super nice and really sweet, I believe Patricia? (Maybe, not sure). I was handed a room key that did not work for the room, no big deal, I get key cards can be tricky sometimes. Front desk clerk granted me access to the room while they made a new one. I went in to check the room for bed bugs, roaches, cameras, other things out of the norm or didn’t belong. (Property is not the cleanest, so I of course was checking.) Noticed roach bait along the base board and was turned off from just that. Grabbed my wife and our kids (3 years old and 4 months old). I was told there were no more rooms and that they were full.
Well… our door closed. However, I almost had to break it to get it back open, after receiving the new key card. My wife and kids were stuck in the room, while I was stuck outside. It was bound up at the latch, it was a hollow shell door (not a safe door for exterior use at all) because it wouldn’t shut at the top or bottom of the door.
I let my wife go complain to the front desk and express our concerns for safety. At this point, the roach bait was minimal compared to a faulty exterior door.
If you have ever watched the sitcom series “My Name Is Earl” this Days Inn makes the motel on the show look like a luxurious resort.
Front desk clerk assured and promised my wife that we would receive a full refund for our 1 night stay, if we contact booking, and was very apologetic. I might add that she conveniently offered a different room to my wife that somehow became available 15 minutes later… weird but okay, lol.
I put in a request through booking.com for a refund, as instructed. Booking.com came back with a very lovely response, stating that they were not successful at getting property to reply to them. Cool. Finally, 48 hours later we got a reply- Days Inn location refusing a refund, shocker, right? Haha.
My wife called this morning and they hung up on her. Can’t get through to corporate either. So hopefully this review prompts a phone call, as I anticipate that it will. Also thought it was interesting to know: multiple people I told this to, just in passing through New Philadelphia, the amount of comments I received of “Oh there’s known prostitution there” or “Oh yeah, there’s so much drug activity that goes on there”.
Surely Days Inn as a corporation doesn’t make a whole lot of money off of this one location… it would probably be a great business decision to just go ahead and call it quits and close up shop here before a meth lab explodes or a hooker enters the wrong room…
If I could leave a 0-star review I would, but unfortunately I have to give them a 1-star, in order to write a review.
I’ll be waiting patiently for my return phone call, along with my...
Read moreDo not stay here. I wish I could give negative stars for this place. First of all, and not her fault, we could not understand the check in clerk. Her Indian accent was very thick. The lobby smelled of cigarette smoke and yuck! Got to our room (110) and it was unbelievably nasty. We usually aren’t super picky about our room but just cannot do filthy. We stayed for maybe 30 minutes because there weren’t any other rooms available in the area. We were also very tired and had just driven over 5 hours and it was about 10:30pm when we arrived. We eventually decided to pack up and leave because my husband and I were just grossed out. We ended up getting something across the street by a miracle. Anyway, it was filthy, dirty stained sheets and mattress. My husband checked one of the mattresses for bedbugs and didn’t really see anything, but also not experts on looking. The air conditioning/heating unit didn’t work. The bed was pushed right against the hvac unit as well and the other bed was pushed against the wall. The sheets and towels all felt damp and the room smelled musty. The curtain was torn. The door had a large gap between the jam and the door. Deadbolt didn’t work. The shower was so old and exceptionally dirty. I couldn’t even stand in it to shower. I ended up laying a towel on the floor. There was age old dirt, slime and mold in the cracks of the shower door. The shower spigot was leaking terribly and was shooting water towards the ceiling. There was mold on the bathroom wall in three or four areas. The ceiling in the bathroom needed repaired as well. I’m hoping our timeshare company will reimburse us for this outrageously disgusting room. We were charged $82.57 but if you look online, it says $58/night. Also when you try to go to the website, it takes you to a La Quinta in San Bernardino, California. What the heck! Wish I would have read the reviews before booking this place. Lesson...
Read moreFront desk falsely accused me and my fiance of being either drunk and /or on some kind of drugs , after we paid for 3 nights on reservation , after we arrived , we had to go back to retrieve my fiances id card , then upon returning to the hotel, that's when the front desk clerk treated us so very poorly and even refused to allow us to check in to our ALREADY PAID FOR, room , and refused any reason as to why. As well the lobby area had a Hispanic male that was under the influence heavily, and had a hideous odor of septic backup that was completely horrible!!!! I and my fiance will NEVER return to that place for any reason whatsoever and I do warn any of you who think that the so called DAYS INN , In new Philadelphia Ohio, is a decent place to rent a room.... Please I emplore you... Think again and be smart... Take your business...
