This is the only time in my adult life I’ve refused to tip. I get shampoo/blowouts every other week or so, and have never had a problem getting loose curls and volume. I went to this Hair Bar and was sat down by the woman doing my hair, who did the most cursory shampoo/conditioner (ie not really even getting product to the scalp). We then sat down for the blowout and I told her specifically I wanted tighter curls since they’ll loosen up quickly. She asks if I had keratin treatments on my hair, I explain no,I’m just Asian. She starts using a round brush on my hair and drying it, but she’s barely rolling the brush and not applying any tension, not leaving a curler in the hair to set - nothing. The hair is immediately falling straight. She is doing this so quickly and so sloppily that I convince myself she’s doing a first pass on my hair to get it neat before actually working on the blowout. Then she tells me she’s done. I tell her “I asked for curls”. She tells me that it’s not possible on my hair type (Asian) and I can pay her another $20 for her to curl my hair. From the time I sat down for the shampoo to being done with my long hair blowout, not more than 25 minutes elapsed. As I go to check out, reception asks me if I want to leave a tip, of course I say no and I show her my hair. The woman who works at reception is shocked, and apologizes profusely (of course it’s not her fault). She goes to the hairstylist and the hairstylist claims, falsely, again, that I had my hair straightened with Keratin. The receptionist says that even if my hair were straightened, I still could have a better result. Anyway, I don’t want this one experience to imply that every hairdresser is bad. But there’s something missing from their vetting process.

I understand the Keratin Treatment takes a day to relax…and it did. The keratin worked great…but that doesn't take talent to apply..its in a spray bottle and all you have to do is comb it through… I am attaching the photos of the hack job of a haircut I received. That is my main concern. I arrived wanting my sides shaved down to a 0 and the top not being touched. She said she had to blend it in…fine…I had close to 6 inches of hair on the top of my head and didnt want it touched..just wanted a TRIM. I’m left with 1” on the crown so now its so short it sticks straight up ….it doesn’t take a genius to see what an awful haircut this is…I understand you have to protect your stylists but you can not disagree that this is awful. You need to educate your stylists and have classes for them to learn…you can see in the first 2 attached photos how long my hair was..the second 2 photos are after. The inspo picture was ignored. I would have been so appreciative if Ganna said “I am not confident in cutting this hairstyle, let’s go ahead and just do just the keratin today and have you come back to get it cut with someone else that can achieve what you want” THAT would have been amazing and impressive customer service. Instead I’m left with this chaotic hack job because she “tried it”….you should take mens haircuts off your menu ASAP.

So happy with my experience here! I came in for a silk touch keratin treatment after finding the Groupon for first time customers. I have very curly hair, and wanted to eliminate frizz/ relax the curls without straightening completely. I also have color and chemically treated hair, so I knew it was a bit of a complicated request. My stylist Lina and the owner Leah took the time to talk through my concerns and explain how they could customize the treatment. I am so happy with the result! No frizz and my hair is way easier to style. As a side note - I am not sure why people are complaining about the additional charges for longer hair. In my experience Keratins/ Brazilians are always priced based on length because the product is really expensive. I also came back the following week for a haircut with Lea because my hair felt quite a bit longer after the keratin relaxed my curls - she is really great with cutting curly hair! I will definitely be coming back.

I’m so unhappy with my hair because I told her when I left that it’s already waving, she just straightened it & let me go. My hair has a bunch of curls when I wash it. I noticed it after my first wash but didn’t think that it was this bad. I’ve done keratin before & have never had an issue like this especially within the first week to a month.I’m constantly straightening & the texture of my hair is just unmanageable now. I feel so much regret & I didn’t want to complain but I did pay a good amount of money for a service & I’d expect a proper amount of keratin. It was as less product as possible & so much heat. She flipped my layers in when I payed for keratin - pin straight hair. I didn’t ask that of her. I’m just so upset for waiting this long to even write my concern but my hair is getting worse so I cannot even let this slide . I know that you guys wouldn’t care for my satisfaction once paid , I’ve seen the other reviews and once it’s passed a certain time there’s nothing to do about it. But that’s such a disservice if it’s clearly an issue caused on your ends regardless of policy. I will be posting photos of my hair when I wash it. And the fact I need 400 degrees to straighten my hair because it just won’t straighten is sickening. I’m so upset . Another thing I have to add is look at all the low reviews complaining about bad keratin treatment done by you guys and your response is about the proper aftercare. Then you guys respond saying that we should know within the first wash to come back to have the process re done ? Who wants to put their hair through that again when it’s supposed to be done correctly to begin with. Nobody complains about the thickness / length charge or product usage. But while receiving these complaints do you hold your stylists accountable or it’s just some unfortunate situation that didn’t make the 5 day policy mark . It’s not about having clientele, customer satisfaction, just business. But this is our hair/identity how cruel can you be to see these reviews & not do your best to respond with actual concern knowing it’s your ends that caused this because you have just anyone working there. Why would anyone pay this money to go to a person with a beat up hot tool doing a mediocre job ? And isn’t focused on her clients wishes . I’m clearly just getting more frustrated the more I remember this experience and look at myself every single day in the mirror . 100% do not recommend, I actually gave you guys 2 stars on Groupon for a welcoming vibe but honestly that’s not even worth the damage you guys can possibly cause to a good proportion of women/clients. Go somewhere in the city and pay that high end price because these additional fees add up to nearly as...

My hairdresser was out of town and after spending 2 very humid summers in NYC and 2 very humid weeks in the west indies I was at wits end with my thick, wavy, frizzy, read: extremely unmanageable and bushy hair. I was used to the dry arid climate of so cal where I rarely had to deal with humidity so it did what I liked, without much product at all. And, the thought of wearing it with lots of hair products and gel like I did in the 90's to embrace the wave and curl seemed like too much work now. I like to wash 'n' go, and I don't like to wash my hair every day. So, I decided to give this keratin Brazillian blow out treatment a try. My hairdresser's salon in Chelsea charges upwards of $350 for this procedure, so I looked on Groupon and found Hairbar NYC. But, before purchasing the Groupon I decided to call them. The gal on the phone was super nice. She told me they'd accommodate my schedule as I mentioned I needed it done before leaving town. She also told me not to buy the Groupon and gave me an even better deal on the phone!!! She said my appointment was with Bebe. Not knowing what to expect I went. Bebe was super nice. She explained the whole process to me. Basically I can't wash my hair for 24 hours, but ideally 72 hours, nor should I even get it wet. She encouraged me to also put heat to my hair after sleeping and before washing either with a flat iron or blowdryer. When I left the salon my hair was super soft and super straight, straighter than it's been in years. I did as she said, and 3 days later I washed it. I was a little skeptical that this was just like a regular blow out, I mean for the price it seemed to good to be true, but true to their word, after I washed it, my hair is still 90% more straight and frizz free than it usually is! My blow dry time was also significantly less! Bebe says this could last me about 5 months. I've read online this could last anywhere from 8-10 weeks. Either way, I will definitely be going back to Hair Bar NYC and Bebe to get this done...

DO NOT GO. The treatment did not work and the follow up customer service has been TERRIBLE. Waste of money and time.

I am a 19yo girl who has struggled with curly hair her whole life and thought this would make my life easier. I have never written a review before but after experiencing the customer service and uselessness of the treatment, I thought I should try to save others some money!!

I got the 24 Karat Keratin straightening treatment. When I booked online I was told it would cost around $150 and there was no indication online that hair type or length would change that. When I got there they told me it would cost an extra $100 because of length and thickness, fine that's fair, I do have a lot of hair. The process went smoothly and I was initially satisfied with the results. The place was clean and my hairdresser was nice. I was told not to get it wet until 3-4 days has passed and then wash it with conditioner only. I did exactly that and washed it with a sulfate-free conditioner as directed and it immediately began getting wavy in the shower. My hair is very curly so I assumed it wouldn't stay perfectly straight and I was fine accepting this. But the following day it just got curlier and frizzier and it was clear to me the treatment wasn't working or they hadn't done it correctly or given me the right treatment. When I called the soho store to get a refund they directed me to customer service who was then absolutely useless. They offered a consult to see if the treatment was still in tact and if I needed to get it redone but I don't trust them to do it again and just want to be refunded. I was told I couldn't get a refund due to their store policy, which I looked over carefully BEFORE the treatment, and it did not clarify that dissatisfaction with results does not warrant a refund.

I am so upset and angry with the hair treatment and the way I have been treated...
