Our reviews had over 37 million views last year. We do not get paid we just love to eat and have fun. We really loved Dirty French. Must get reservations but lots of tables. Staff is excellent. Great managers, hostesses and servers. Pamela was our server, has been there since 2015 and knows the menus inside and out. She gave us a ton of great ideas. Started with the deviled eggs. Just like grandma use to make with some fun spices. All dishes here are a homage to their name so you can expect french flavors but with lots of different "dirty" spices and flavors blended in where you would not expect them. They give you a giant flash fried bread dish with awesome onion dip style butter. Yummy!!! Then we had the famous mushroom millefeuille. Think of 1,000 layers of noodles with the best corn sauce (with some hot spice in parts) but the noodles are a very subtle mushroom. If I had told you it was potatoes with no mushrooms you would believe me because the mushroom flavor is very subtle. THIS IS A MUST ORDER ITEM!!! I also had the in house sausage with in house mustard sauce. Again the sauce was very complex and not what you would expect. Fantastic. For our mains I had their famous orange duck. Only limited servings availabe each night so you must ask for it and hope it is not sold out. Best duck I have ever had. Moist, inside, cripsy outside. Wonderful sauce (again note the "dirty" fun flavors in it) that only had a hint of orange. I will get that every time I have the chance. She had the hangar steak. Be sure to order it medium rare to get the most flavor. Very good sauces again and the fries are double or triple fried so very crispy. I love the fries this way. They are like the little ones at the bottom of the box of fries you get and they are exquisite. For deseert we had the beignets that come with the famous sauce from Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans or at least a "dirty" version of their sacue. These are served hot out of the fryer and are to die for. You cannot go wrong with this dessert. You get 4 of them but do not split an order, they are too good to share!!! Ask your servier about all the red roosters in the room and about the clown busts. Very funny stories. Look for the 3 frogs behind the bar and they will think you are a regular. We had a great time with great food and great employees like Pamela. We will come back again and look forward to many DIRTY nights again!!!! Check out all of our reviews. If we do not like it we do no review it so all of the ones you see are places that are fantastic. Follow us if you like. We had over 36 million views so far this year and we thank you for that. Dirty French was a great choice to have a first date with someone I meet online. Our reservation was at 11:00am when they opened and even thought I was 10 minutes late, the host still sat us at a table that was perfect for the two of us. Unknowingly, the restaurant had a live jazz band playing softly behind our table to ease the ambience of the dining room. The music was soft and not even close to disturbing out conversation throughout our time dining. The food was delicious. My date and I ordered the Duck Confit Hash, traditional server with over easy eggs, but opted for poached eggs. We split the little gem salad as our starter, which had a nice acidic kick from the garlic and anchovies in the dressing. Together they all paired nicely on the palate leaving both of us full, but not stuffed. We finished our meal with a pineapple tart with vanilla ice cream that was a verbal dessert, as there is no written dessert menu for brunch. The BOH staff did an excellent job on their seasoning and didn't over or under salt any of our food. It was excellent. The saltiness of the duck confit was balanced by the lack of salt (potatoes) and fatness from the egg. The staff did extraordinary table service. I watched their every move. From the host apologizing that they were unable to hear me say my name, the way that the servers quickly coordinated with the runner that our table needed to be cleared, set, and food dropped simultaneously. The small details were not looked, like open hands toward the guest when dropping from the left with the left hand. The FOH staff were professional even when not at the tables. I asked for directions to the bathroom and the sever told me with an open hand how to get there. When passing the server station, the staff wasn't hoarding over one POS and chatting about non-work related topics. The lounge area was clear of any visible dirty dishes and seemed very welcoming and approachable. This was honestly one of the best restaurants I have taken anyone too in the city. I will gladly be returning for dinner service sometime soon. Great Job FOH & BOH 🥂🎉👏👏👏

In the midst of this melange, Dirty French stands out, rebelliously and unmistakably. Its name might raise eyebrows, but let me assure you, it’s as seductive as it sounds. From the moment you walk into Dirty French, there's a nostalgic nod to Parisian bistros, with a punk rock soul that's distinctly New York. The dimly lit ambiance, replete with vintage vinyl spinning tunes, sets the stage for an experience that is, in essence, a culinary rock concert. The menu? A daring remix of French classics. While purists might raise an eyebrow at dishes like the duck à l’orange with ras el hanout or the tuna tartare with creole seasoning, this is where audacity meets craftsmanship. Each dish is a journey, full of unexpected turns, yet deeply rooted in traditional French technique. It's a reminder that sometimes, the most authentic experiences come from the audacious act of breaking the rules. But what’s a good meal without a drink? Their wine list, much like the food, straddles the line between classic and eclectic. And their cocktails, bold and brash, are the perfect preamble to a night of indulgence. Service, too, is a delightful paradox: attentive yet unobtrusive, knowledgeable yet unpretentious. There's a sense that the staff is in on a secret, sharing with you a culinary rebellion, one dish at a time. In a city that's seen it all, Dirty French manages to surprise, seduce, and, above all, satiate. It’s not just a meal, it’s an anthem to the irreverent spirit of New York and the timeless allure of French cuisine. In the vast culinary tapestry of the Big Apple, Dirty French is a stitch that's hard to ignore.

Fairly underwhelmed with this spot considering the price point...

The Bread: 5/5 Stunning, fresh, and delicious. Really... worth all the sins

Food: 4/5

The Terrine was exquisite. Very shareable and rich. The Millefeuille was perhaps one of the best dishes I have had in memorable history and certainly the most original, unique and satisfying dish of the evening. The rest of our mains: Porc aux Moutardes, Hanger Steak, Brook Trout were satisfyingly simple. No shout out, but a great entree course for the most part.

For a crispy Duck a l'orange, this is not the place to go.. An ambitious approach to a classic, this dish was probably oversold (see service) and was definitely an interesting texture not in line with the sell.. The asparagus was similarly off the mark for us. It was sold as a refreshing answer to the Spring day and in all actuality, probably was just something that needed to be moved. It was not a hit at our table and I would not recommend for any season.

Service: 2/5 We were whisked quickly to our seats and promptly and has a mismatch of service. The runners, for the most part, were spot on, humerous, knowledgable and smart. I agree with some other reviews that service can be a little bit awkward// off the cuff. It seemed like for some of the service items were not ironed out (share plates, silverwear, clearing, etc)

The sommilier was spot on, well presented and even though we were sticking to cocktails, arranged a gin tasting for one of our party that was really above and beyond. We were impressed.

Our waitress Emily was really the pivot to the experience. It did seem as if she were put upon by our presence.. After a fairly condesencing discussion about getting additional bread (it is truely crack, and we were offered a second platter by the runners) we were off to the races.... We then recieved the oversold duck and she seemed frustrated when one of our party asked if the skin was supposed to be crispy... Thats cool that it is not, but come back with a solution, you sold it after all...

The piece de resistance was the bill delivery when she asked the head of the table if she could split the check... Really amateur in my opinion.. If we were at Applebees, I would understand it, but when you are spending 70+ a person, it just left a bad taste in our mouths and a good amount of confusion.

All in all, I would not hestitate to recommend the menu and the beverage service. If I happen to have another chance to dine there, I do hope I am lucky enough to enjoy a...

am i actually giving a 5/5? i might be. this is like a 4.99/5 but ill give it the 5/5. everything was perfect. the atmosphere is absolutely gorgeous, i love the lights. the service is insane, our waiter described each item in detail and made everything sound so good. as for the food that’s the real star. first they give complimentary bread which gives them bonus points but i love free bread. there’s is elevated to an extreme with a boursin cheese like spread on the side. the bread has a bit of spice so be aware but flavors are great. for appetizers we ordered the bone marrow, lamb carpaccio and the mushroom mille feuille. i don’t eat bone marrow but my mom loved it! she said it was the best she’s ever had (and she’s had quite a few). also worth mentioning that it was a very generous portion for the price. as for the carpaccio it didn’t taste much different than a beef carpaccio but the prep was great. i love japanese eggplant and they give more of the complimentary bread on the side of this dish. the mushroom mille feuille is the winner of the three although i do wish they gave bread with this to soak up the curry. this was spicy so you need to be good with a medium level spice to eat it. honestly i don’t think the mushroom is the star of this dish but the flavors are all so amazing that i don’t care. there are beans and it’s in an amazing coconut curry. even with the spice you can taste the coconut and it gives the dish a nice sweetness. for entrees we ordered the burger and the duck l’orange. one of the best ducks i’ve ever had and i’ve been making my rounds with duck recently. there isn’t a crispy skin so if you are looking for that keep looking but the flavors are wonderful. i’m not much for an orange sauce but it was pretty good. can’t say it’s better than torrisi’s but it comes pretty close. the burger is one of the better burgers i’ve had but not my favorite. it has raclette cheese and sautéed onion which elevates it but the burger itself was a little burnt. the fries are hand cut and very good. we opted to skip dessert (i had a cinnamon roll waiting for me at home) but they were kind enough to spend over a scoop of blood orange sorbet. not sure if it’s actually on their menu but if it is don’t pass by it. so good! tasted exactly like the blood orange pellegrino which i used to be obsessed with. i’ll be back here in a heartbeat i didn’t have a single bad bite. everything exceeded expectations and this just became one of my favorite...
