In addition to what other reviewers have said about this place (that it's a dump with roaches, and that the manager, Crystal, is unresponsive and rude—all of which is true), this hotel is running a scam by quoting one room price and then illegally increasing it at checkout. I suppose they think that because it's only a $4 difference, guests will just accept it and walk away. If you're considering staying here, reconsider. If they've already charged you this extra fee, consider how much money they're raking in daily by adding $4 to every stay, and don't put up with it. When I contacted them, they told me they were a private hotel and could do whatever they want. Good try. There are multiple options for recourse: contacting the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs, disputing the fee with your credit or debit card issuer, and even pursuing a class-action lawsuit. I'm still waiting for my refund.||||Furthermore, this hotel has a policy of charging guests $25 if they check out at 11:01 a.m. or later. Have you ever heard of a hotel charging $25 for checking out one minute past the deadline? And apparently, they don't allow late checkouts. Now that's a scam! In my case, I actually called for a late checkout, and a staff member told me I could have one until 11:30 a.m., but that I would be subject to the $25 late fee if I stayed past that time. What she didn't tell me was that they were going to find a way to charge me the $25 regardless. I checked out almost immediately after a staff person knocked on my door at 11:17 a.m. I remember the time because I was annoyed that they wouldn't allow me a 12:00 p.m. late checkout (as a Wyndham Rewards member, I should have been allowed until 1:00 p.m.). I gathered my things and left, which took maybe five minutes. When I got home, I saw a $25 unauthorized charge from the hotel.||||I called and spoke to the same staff member I'd talked to the day before. She said she couldn't understand why I was charged incorrectly and told me to call back and speak to Crystal, the manager. The next day, I spoke to a gentleman who told me they could do whatever they want. The following day, I finally spoke to Crystal, who told me the staff member who granted me the late checkout had given me misinformation and that guests are charged for checking out at 11:01 a.m. or later. She said she would speak to the other manager and get back to me. Of course, she didn't. So, I called back the next day. I assume Crystal saw my number on caller ID because she put me on hold and never returned, assuming I would hang up. She was right, but she didn't expect me to immediately call back using a restricted number. She then told me their records showed I checked out at 11:35 a.m., so I wouldn't be getting a refund. I've requested documentation of my checkout time or the source of that information. It's interesting that this supposed checkout time is conveniently past both the deadline I was given by staff and the official hotel policy. They haven't provided any documentation because it doesn't exist. I didn't officially check out by handing my key to the front desk (which isn't required), and I can't imagine how they could know my departure time unless they're fabricating it—which they are.||||It's mind-blowing that when I requested a refund, they refused. When I reported it to Wyndham, they lied. They probably thought I'd give up, but I won't. For $29, this hotel has caused me a lot of grief and ill will. I travel frequently and will never return. My repeat business alone is worth much...
Read moreI mean, where do I begin? I wish I could give this 0 stars because they don't deserve even one. This has to be the worst place we've have every stayed out. My family and I were displaced after being scammed out of our home, so we booked a few nights here while we figured some things out. This place is not worthy any amount of money. Roaches in the rooms, paint all over the place, filthy floors, missing shower heads, no trash can, dirty towels, filthy sticky plates and pots and pans, literally nothing that was advertised was given to us at any point during our stay. I had to ASK for CLEAN towels and dishes, and even then they gave me a bunch of wet items with food stains, and moldy smells on them.
They don't serve breakfast due to "COVID" and their pool is literally green and looks disgusting. The entire staff is non-English speaking people who don't understand anything you say or ask them. The only person that speaks decent English is the HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, manager CRYSTAL who has the worst attitude and is very spiteful. This woman literally tried to throw us off the property because we file a formal complaint and she didn't want to be held accountable. I asked her for a few extra hours to get the remaining amount to add on Tuesday night because there was money missing from my account. She ignored me and told me to go to the hotel next door and that they don't do balances, which is a lie. After checking my account, I noticed charges from them with today's date. I tried calling the front desk to understand why I was charged, but no one answered and the non-English speaking agent mumbled something and hung up. 4:10pm CRYSTAL forces her way into our room demanding that we leave within the hour, stating that we have already been checked out and that we could only stay if we paid her AN ADDITIONAL $140. Not to mention, she never acknowledged any of the complaints we made, didn't try to resolve the matter and screamed at us like a lunatic in front of other guests. While walking with my husband to the front desk to pay, she continued to make offensive remarks about our situation, stating that "corporate is my family, they aren't going to do anything" proving that she feels untouchable and that she can do whatever she wants and throw her power around as she pleases. She showed no regard for our concerns, the issues we had since check-in and behaved the way we did because we made a formal complaint. You'd be better off sleeping on the street than staying here. Not to mention all of the illegal activity taking place back there that she is clearly aware of and does nothing about. I've sent even more photos and details to corporate and will continue to do so until this matter is resolved and we receive a solution WE WANT, along with a formal apology for her attempts to embarass and ridiculue us in front of other guests and staff. This is not the last they will hear from me, and I hope she...
Read moreJust no. Just nope. The pics from 2, 4, and 6 years ago need to be taken down and updated with the reality of this hotel. Those old photos are an illusion, I thought i was in the twilight zone!! Bring your own roach spray. Bring your own dishes. Bring a duster and cleaning supplies. Bring your own covers and pillows also. Room 614 the ceiling leaks. And everything was sticky...Towels and washcloths are pre-stained. If you have too many children, you'll be charged an additional $175 per week(so leave them in the lobby-we were told they were a risk). Then, the $32 a day resort fee, yet there is no resort. additional $200 for a pet fee, and if you have an issue, the manager comes in after checkout. This way, she doesn't have to face the customer. We moved to what they call the "penthouse."" Still had roaches, broken microwave and the TV was broken also. One of the workers tried to give us a microwave that had been sitting in the rain and was covered in pollen!!! What?!! Are you serious?? Then, he brought an old microwave (probably the one from outside)after we left that caught fire while my children were there, which caused the fire alarm to go off!! We were charged an additional $250 for the alarm going off!! Did i mention the alarms were going off all week?!! Do not expect an immediate refund. The owner told my husband and I about people I work with who come to his establishment! That is absolutely none of our business. He told us their names, too. How has this place not caught a blaze yet?? The only postives were the attendant at the front desk, beautiful brown woman with the blonde locks, Beth the cook, and Sean in maintenance. Crystal, the manager, was rude and spoke condescendingly. The owner thought that because we were people of color, HE could speak to us as if we came from the slums. And for the record, if there is a response to this comment, it is AI computer generated - Noone actually cares to repair or acknowledge the issues. When you drive onto the property, it wreaks desolation. If I could give them no stars, I would. My daughter's tablet is missing - they say they didn't enter the room, yet that's the only electronic device that was left out and isn't in our possession. If it shows up in my belongings, I'll apologize. This was an eerie experience, and I am grateful for the lesson learned. Appreciate what you have because there is an entire hotel establishment that shows you exactly what you don't want when you need a temporary place to rest with your family. Did I mention b.y.o.r.s? Bring your own roach spray-yes, and the rumors are true. Yet, I'm...
