I was pleasantly surprised that the hotel was updated to look really nice. The comments I had read on other sites were horrible so I was dreading my stay, but unfortunately every other hotel in the area was fully booked (as was this one). I had prepared for the worst... took my own linens, my own towels, and my own toiletries. But the linens, towels, bed, bathroom, kitchen were all impeccable. The bathroom included the Paul Mitchell tea tree products that were in big bottles attached to the walls. So there weren't any tiny individual bottles that require you to order 10 more because you have long hair. It's perfect because it reduces waste and it was a high quality product. The towels were white. White white. No stains, no bleach stains, nothing. They looked brand new, which who knows they could've been because it's clear they just remodeled the hotel.
The lobby was clean, the rooms were upscale, updated, and comfortable with a lot of space. The pool though was unavailable as it was still under construction. It didn't bother me because I wasn't going to have time to be in the pool anyway. The problem was that I booked a studio that was supposed to fit 4. It was advertised as a King bed AND a pullout bed in the room to fit 4 people. But there is no pullout bed! It's only an air mattress! Plus, you practically have to harass staff to get that air mattress to you.
I'm sure that the hotel service is much better when they're not bombarded. We went for a state competition and the hotel was booked with families attending the competition. Tons of little girls running around, which didn't bother me but I can see how it can bother a person that's not part of that group. I assume that they had many many requests throughout the day, but the room should have been adequately prepared for 4 people as booked, with the air mattress (which again, NOT a pullout as advertised). I shouldn't have had to wait 9 hours to get my mattress. It's one of those cheap camping mattresses too. Not even a nice AeroBed. If you're going to make people sleep on an air mattress, at least get nicer ones! Staff was really kind and I know they were doing the best they can, so I was far more patient than I otherwise would be. When they were a bit more available, the response time was acceptable (less than 30 minutes).
One recommendation to the hotel... install towel hooks. You can't hang up towels without...
Read moreFirst, the disclaimer on the Palmdale reviews I am writing ...||||We were in Lancaster three times for State Cup this year. Indeed, expectations need to be lowered on all fronts the moment one steps foot into this town; however, there are some basic hospitality concepts that I expect everywhere, especially from a hotel chain.||||We stayed at this hotel on two different occasions this month. On a positive note, I got an amazing deal on Hotwire the first time around and unlike the hotel we stayed at previously in Palmdale, we enjoyed the "suite" with the kitchen and had more room. Not knowing if we'd win our games the following day, I did not book the discounted Hotwire rate for the following evening. It was a bummer to pay quite a bit more once we confirmed we'd advance but we didn't want to incur the burden of having to move to a different hotel. On this particular occasion, the indoor pool was under construction so we went across the street to the Courtyard Marriott where some of our other teammates were staying and swam there. The complimentary breakfast sufficed for getting coffee, bananas and yogurt. The on-site laundromat was convenient. Ethan at the front desk was lovely.||||Second stay was not so pleasant. This time I called in advance to see if I could somehow lock in a comparable rate for the second evening - and I would let them know promptly at 10 am when our game ended on whether or not we would need to stay. They were not willing to accommodate us on this request. No flexibility with a repeat patron means I'm not going to have flexibility in turning a blind eye to the shortcomings of this hotel.||||They're going to renovate, great news! But why in the world would the hotel renovation overlap with State Cup season???? We were on the second floor and had a notice in our room that renovations were beginning on the third floor, from 10 am - 6 pm. It was unbearably loud. Our room had a closet that wouldn't close, a refrigerator that creaked all night long, and on and on and on. This time I felt really ripped off. But it forced us to move on to a different hotel, which ended up being the winner of the three we've experienced this...
Read morePool was closed due to maintenance but not indicated on the website or when calling to confirm reservations prior to arriving. Was able to use the pool at your sister hotel but wasn’t convenient, we had to walk our wet kids across 2 parking lots and a busy cross street. Would have just booked a room there instead.
Was initially charged $10 for parking. Again, not indicated on your website (actually says complimentary). Was told it was an error on the website and would be changed soon. Front desk removed the charge but only after I argued the issue and pulled up your website on my phone.
Room was not ready at 3pm check-in time. Although I came extra early 930am to verify my room would be ready by 3pm, room wasn’t not cleaned or available until we’ll passed 4pm. 60+ minutes isn’t that long of a wait but I checked in early in the morning to verify and was assured the room would be ready by 3pm so we made plans to meet up with others in our party for early dinner. Our late checkin effected more than just us.
Shower sprayed water from a leak in hose, shower wall had a large 2 foot crack, and small patch of mold was growing on the wall paper in the bathroom. The carpet below the sink/vanity was soaking wet throughout our stay. The wet carpet wouldn’t dry even after using a bathroom towel multiple times to soak up the water.
Bedroom and Living Room windows were both directly lined up with the entrance/exit to the large strip mall across the street. Heavy traffic along adjacent road and glaring lights shining past the “black out” shades throughout the night.
I love Marriott and Residence Inns but this one night stay was...
