My boyfriend and I have visited several embassy locations throughout California, and unfortunately this location would have to be the first disappointment. Whenever we travel we always stay at an embassy, because we know what to expect from one. We had made our reservation online, and we had chosen the premium WiFi package because we were taking a couple of electronics with us and we didn’t want to encounter any issues, but as soon as we checked into the hotel, the receptionist let us know that on her system there was nothing staying premium WiFi, and there was no need for it since there was low occupancy. We tried explaining that we had purchased that option when we reserved online, but she just blew it off like nothing, so we just decided to ignore it and continue using the regular complimentary WiFi. On our way to the room as we were passing through the hallways there were trays of left over food just sitting on the floor, and as we made trips in and out of the hotel throughout the night there were just more and more plates laying on the floor, and never got picked up throughout the afternoon, night and even morning... it was truly disgusting. We had them decided to go attend the evening reception on our way there, we had encountered a panhandler inside the hotel! She had mentioned that she was associated with one of the employees there but that he or she was unable to give them any money so she was asking people for money inside the hotel. Unbelievable! We ignored that aswell, but the next morning we had gone down stairs to eat breakfast, around 8:40 but there were employees putting the chairs on top of some tables. We thought they were just doing some tables, we continued and served ourselves breakfast, the orange juice machine was not working, no big deal, I let one of the employees know, and she said it didn’t matter because breakfast was over soon... so I just decided to get soda instead. As I tried to get a refill on my drink, same employee had turned off ALL the drink machines, and said everything gets turned off by 9. 9???? When we had first checked in we were told breakfast was served from 7:30 to 10. So why is everything being shut off and being put away at 9?? We decided to just leave and get breakfast on our own, we felt uncomfortable and a burden there. After having breakfast we had gone to go ask if it was possible to extend our stay at least a couple hours, like we have done at other locations... our receptionist had asked another employee and she was extremely unprofessional, she pretty much yelled no. That they had a lot of people coming in and they needed their rooms clean. At last when we were checking out, we had mentioned the premium WiFi to the a different receptionist, and she mentioned that it did state we had gotten the premium WiFi option upon booking but that there was nothing that could be done and that our check in recipionst should have gave us the password to that WiFi. We told her she hadn’t and asked what could be done about it, she said nothing whether we had gotten the premium WiFi or not it was cheaper than the regular honors discount rate. By that point we had just had enough. Safe to say I will not be staying at that...
Read moreTLDR: Not the "Hilton" quality that I am used to.
Check-in was pretty rough. After a long day of travel there was one gentlemen working at the front desk and a line of travelers. We had 7 people waiting when I got to the front of the line.
This kind of became the norm during my stay. It seemed like I was constantly looking for the staff. Went to get dinner the one night and no one was around for about 10 minutes. Went to the bar - no one. Went to the front desk - no one. About 5 minutes later I found someone at the front desk and they were able to go find someone at the restaurant to order.
Check out was pretty smooth but did have an old address on file from 10+ years ago. I stay often at other Hiltons and handt seen that address in a long time. I also know my account online had the right address. That was a bit odd.
As for the rooms: I had the King Suite and was not too impressed. The fridge was apparently set so low that it was a freezer so all my things got frozen overnight before I caught how cold it was. I guess thats my fault but odd that it would be set like that and not corrected. Ice maker on the floor didnt work. The door was a pain to close. It always seemed like it wasnt closing all the way so I had to check it each time I left. A couple times it didnt close all the way. There were stains on the carpet throughout the room. There were still clothes in the closet from a previous occupant. The bed was very hard and worn with softer pockets in the bed that made sleeping uncomfortable. I travel a lot and like to unpack my things to feel more normal. All of the drawers were messed up. Either off the tracks, opened on their own (leveling issues), didnt close all the way, etc.
Kind of a silly one but no guide on the TV. This is a pet peeve of mine. I dont know any of the channels and especially for a TV that is slow to load each channel... it is such a time waster after a long day at work to find something. Honestly, as a Hilton, the whole hotel should have Smart TVs where the occupant can login to their Hulu, Netflix, etc.
Shower was good all around.
Hotel had a happy hour that was included with two free drinks. HOWEVER, only applied to Bud Light (at least what I was told). So as someone that likes good beers, it was a useless perk.
The food at happy hour was decent. The sliders were good. Got the Filet Mignon the following day and was so under-cooked. Between Raw and Blue Rare to be exact when Med Rare was requested.
Morning breakfast was the pinnacle of my stay. The food was great. Perfectly cooked each morning. They did have custom made omelets as well but I did not try those due to time constraints.
The fitness center was acceptable but not on par with the Hilton name. Better than most low grade hotels though. There were two ellipticals, two treadmills, and some free weights. An all-in-one or bikes would be a great addition but space is super limited. Pool looked decent through the window but never...
Read moreSuperb service! Everyone was so nice & seemed to be genuinely happy to answer any questions, greet you with a smile or ask you how your stays going. Beautiful, new hotel that I'd love to stay in again if I ever need to visit this town in the middle of the desert. I don't enjoy the location (it's the desert!) but our room, the hotel, each person that worked that we encountered & conversed with were all excellent & warm! Tipping is appreciated by the staff that takes care of us, especially during the holiday week, so at breakfast (yummy fresh omelet - takes 5 minutes to make once you've placed your order & chef was very nice both mornings so tipped him too. It was fascinating watching him work & make sure everything was set. He was fast & confident around the kitchen) we tipped the persons that clear tables, replenish food, etc. Breakfast weekdays is 6-9am & weekends 7-10am. Complimentary evening reception (drinks & snacks) 5:30-7:30pm at lounge area, across from breakfast. I appreciated there's a pool & workout room. Dont know if shampoo is included with rooms but we didn't get one with the room (we had facial bar, body bar, lotion & conditioner) but I'm pretty sure you can ask for it. We can't tell you how much we looked forward to coming back to the hotel each night to be greeted by staff with smiles, getting to our room for a quiet evening after socializing with our loving family. The room, staff, building, establishment with its offerings of warm breakfast all represented a peaceful sanctity that we can retire to. We were confident we'd be taken care of diligently, with a warmth that's hard to come by now a days. I don't like that it's in the middle of nowhere, roads are odd (55mph speed limit but how do you make that sharp right turn into an unusually tiny lane? Oh, btw that turn may be difficult but here's a random curb that you also have to watch out for on this dangerous sharp turn. Good luck maneuvering!) but that's Palmdale. Sucked when a very inconsiderate jerk guest started up a motorbike (there were about 25+ motorbikes parked on hotel sidewalk one night) 5-10 minutes at 6am one morning & rode around the area... Things didn't really make sense to me here in this desert town in the middle of nowhere (right next door was a family fun center with 2 go kart tracks & mall across the way had Target, Trade Joe's, some chain restaurants, etc was convenient but lanes didn't make sense in lot or streets. No real rhyme or reason. You'll see, so be cautious) but our retreat, our room, our stay made it extremely homey & our safe haven to retire to. We looked forward to returning each night. It made all the difference in this barren desert. We can definitely, confidently say that this was home away from home. I can't say enough about this hotel. grand round of applause It was refreshing to have this gem of a place in a dry, arid, dead area. I'm looking forward to...
