Our first stay at Marriott Mountainside was in 2004 and this summer was our fourth visit. We typically visit in June or Sept. This was our first visit in July.
ACTIVITIES Ideal for active adults and kids alike, the Marriott Mountainside is jam-packed with something for everyone. The steam room was used twice a day by our friend and at least once a day by me and my husband. There's a sauna too, but we all leaned toward the steam room. My husband used the gym almost every day and appreciated how respectful everyone was there keeping the noise down and cleaning the machines after each use. They had yoga classes, but we didn't attend. The pool was a refreshing retreat from the hot temps in the high 90s and we all (pre-teens included) loved the hot tubs to soothe sore muscles after a long day of hiking, biking or walking around town. There's ping pong, indoor shuffleboard, billiard tables, gaming stations, and lots of daily activities for kiddos. Roasting marshmallows by the fire and making smores didn't help my waistline, but we sure shared laughs making them. Just outside, the Marriott Mountainside, you'll find lots of summer seasonal activities like the Alpine Slide, Mountain Coaster, mini golf, rock climbing wall, and more.
ACCOMMODATIONS Our 2 bedroom unit consisted of a fully appointed 1 king bedroom with a sleeper sofa in the living room and a 5 piece ensuite along with a full size front loading washer and dryer PLUS a studio king lock-off unit with a kitchenette that had 1 bathroom with a shower/tub combo. The kitchen included a full sized fridge with a freezer, a stove with an oven, a microwave, a dishwasher, a coffee pot, knives, flatware, serveware, and some utensils. They include dish detergent, sponge, a roll of paper towels, a tiny salt and pepper dispenser, some low grade coffee (caffeinated and decaf) with some creamer and sweeteners. The knives were dangerously dull and the two pans were each about 10" so cooking for a large group required creativity or at least it did for us when trying to make a lot of spaghetti with meat sauce made from scratch. The dining table seated 6 comfortably and was were we ate and played cards each night. The beds were fairly firm and weren't luxurious but we all slept like rocks, without complaint after lots of daily activities.
SERVICE The customer service was very good. The entire staff (maintenance people included) worked hard to make us feel special. When someone misplaced their phone, they went above and beyond to help find it. (We later found it in the room.)
LOCATION If you stay in the winter, this place is ideally situated by three lifts for easy ski in ski out access. In summer, it's in the heart of Park City Mountain's activities for Alpine Slide, Mountain Coaster, mini golf, etc. As far as location goes, you really can't get beat it in Park City.

Read moreWe booked a staycation at Marriott Mountainside expecting a fun and relaxing family getaway, but it turned out to be one of the most frustrating hotel experiences we’ve ever had.
The main reason we chose this resort was for the pool, which our kids were excited about. Upon arrival, we found out it was closed—with absolutely no mention of this during booking or on their listing. That alone was a huge letdown. But unfortunately, the disappointments didn’t stop there.
We were hit with a surprise $25 parking fee to use their garage, with no other parking options available. That felt like a cash grab on top of the already steep nightly rate.
Our room was underwhelming—outdated and with a view of the road. We paid a premium expecting something special, but this was average at best and fell short in every way.
The hotel offers a private movie theatre, which sounded great in theory—until the DVD kept glitching and skipping, making it unusable for the kids. Even small details were a mess. For example, they offered to shuttle us to a sister hotel so we could use their pool, but then left us stranded with no shuttle back. I had to go get the car just to bring my family back.
The front desk told us there would be snack bags for the kids when we were heading to the pool, which was a nice idea—only when we got there, they “forgot.” No bags, no apology.
We were briefly excited when we saw they had family activities like an Easter egg hunt and brunch with the Easter Bunny—but then we learned it was $7 for a single waffle and $5 per mimosa. Outrageous. After already dropping hundreds for a one-night stay, this just felt greedy.
And don’t plan on walking anywhere for food—there are practically no restaurants within walking distance. For a resort setting, the lack of nearby dining was a huge inconvenience. We expected better access to amenities, but were left scrambling to figure out meals.
We’ve stayed in multiple hotels in the area—including some just down the road—that were far better in quality, amenities, and value. This place is clearly banking on the Marriott name and proximity to the slopes, but beyond that, there’s nothing here worth the cost.
If you’re skiing, there are better options. If you’re here for a relaxing family stay, look elsewhere. We splurged on what we hoped would be a memorable stay—and it was, just not for the right reasons.

Read moreHad a good time with extended family. The front desk is helpful and pleasant, easy enough to get around, though depending on the floor your room is on, not all elevators go to all the floors, which can be confusing. You need your key card AND wristbands at all times, so don't lose or forget it, or it's a pain to get around. The pool was closed for repair the week we were there, which was a bummer, but they offered a shuttle to another pool or used their spas. They lowered the temperature in one for kids/families in response to the pool closure, but it was quite small and packed as a result. There was plenty of room and spas to choose from for older kids and adults so they could spa in peace. It was nice that they offered that for us, and it was fun for our kiddo who didn't mind. I liked that they had a sunscreen, location, and aloevera station for anyone to use near the workout room and spa doors.
Rooms were good, beds were more comfortable than the average hotel, and I slept well, with no problems. I have back problems, so it was great not to have to worry about sleep so much. Nice and quiet, too. Help text line was mostly reponsive as long as the people helping weren't too busy with other guests. I do wish there was a price list linked for the activities next door more accessible since it's next door and advertised somewhat. It ended up costing more than we brought for everyone and only found out after having to walk clear over to the ticket booth and to pass. wouldn't be fair unless everyone could go. I know they aren't connected to marriot, and it isn't their bussiness, but it would be nice to know beforehand without having to search the Internet for it forever or walk clear over to know what to expect.
Not much activites for toddlers and little kids, which is fine, i dont expect that. They did have some activities on the board for kids. They also had a pool tables for teens and adults near the spas and other table games. Nice firepits for roasting your own marshmallows. They even had sticks you can use albeit short. Lots of sitting places near by the fireplace inside to read a book or watch people/family from inside. Nice workout facility. Overall...
