Sundial Lodge by Park City — Hotel in Park City

The sundial lodge is located in a great spot in the heart of Park City only about 10-15 min drive to Main St. They sit right next to a ski lift and have tons of entertainment around the area. Unfortunately, the good news ends there.

The rooms are old and dusty but quite large. Yes, this is more of a budget hotel compared to the other hotels in the area but even so at around $150-250/night the rooms leave much more to be desired. The “pools” and jacuzzis are not great. Jacuzzis felt like they haven’t been cleaned and were lukewarm instead of hot.

On our arrival, the water was down and the property did not let us know in advance. We couldn’t shower or brush our teeth. When the water finally came back on there was no warm water and we were forced to take a cold shower. Pretty unacceptable to be honest. Manager didn’t really seem bothered about it and offered to waive the resort fee which was only $7/night anyways.

Parking is another lackluster experience requiring $25/day to park your own car in their garage. Sundial states the parking is owned by another company so they don’t get to control those prices.

I would not come back to the sundial, there is much better value for your dollar out there...

We had a great stay at the Sundial. The one bedroom with two pull out sleeper couches was more than enough for our family of 5. The ski valet was awesome. Uber and Lyft worked from here. There was a market and restaurants within walking distance. Walmart and full grocery stores are a five minute drive. The lift is 50 yards from the lobby door. Ski rental and lift ticket booth are on the way to the lift. The staff were great. The vending machines were well stocked with ice cream bars and soda. Pizza places will deliver here. We could not hear the neighbors so the sound proofing must be good. We grilled two nights with the gas grills they had. The location had pools and hot tubs. I don't know how people gave this hotel/resort 4 stars. This has been the WORST hotel I have ever stayed at, definitely not worth the money. The beds were the firmest mattress I have ever slept on, if you like sleeping on a cement slab then you will like the bed. The comforter was equivalent to a curtain, super stiff with zero comfort. Also, asked SEVERAL times if our room had a jetted tub and asked for one several times. We kept being told that there was no way to know what room we had so we MIGHT have one, well we didn't. Needless to say I got no sleep on my vacation and contemplated sleeping in my car. I have had more comfort sleeping on the ground camping or at a super 8. Dramatic? Probably, but it's the truth.
