Note: I mostly stay in Hyatts and this trip put me over 60 nights and I review every one of them after my stay and post picks. I have stayed in Hyatt Centrics in Portland, Denver and Memphis. Just left the hotel yesterday on a long drive back to Oregon. We stayed four nights and had three different rooms as I'm a Globalist and gave our kids two rooms as guest of honor. We did a guaranteed suite upgrade to an amazing loft and they also got upgraded at check-in. This hotel did leave me a bit confused though as to how Hyatt categorizes their hotels. This one is a category 8, which is the highest but I assume it's compared to other Hyatt Centrics and not all Hyatt hotels like the Grand Hyatt but I felt myself comparing this hotel to the Grand Hyatt in Park City which I also stayed at for 4 nights total this summer. First, I'm not a skiier so I will probably only visit these hotels in summer and that's fine by me. Overall, the rooms and the hotel staff were top notch but I did notice some differences in this hotel and the Grand Hyatt which I will describe as I start to notice the little thing things now. Both hotels has soft close toilet seats (use old mean like this at night) but the Grand Hyatt had better toilet paper that was softer. The Grand Hyatt also has this smell when you enter the lobby like the diffuser commercials on TV that was lovely and the Centric did not. The Grand Hyatt used Balman bath products at Category 6, while the Centric (Category 8) did not but they did use the Bee Kind products. At Check-in the Grand Hyatt had swarms of valet and others to bring your stuff up to the room, we unloaded our own stuff at the Centric and lastly, you can get drink and food at the pool at the Grand Hyatt, but nothing at the Centric (although there is a QR code scanner at the pool for food, no one used it and it said food, nothing about drinks). OK, as for the hotel itself. We had a room on the 5th floor with a loft that extended up to the 6th floor and my lady said it was larger than her apt. We had two balconies (one in living room and one in bedroom) and a full size table that sits at least six and full size kitchen with gas stove (love it), full size microwave, dishwasher, full size fridge and full size stackable washer and driver and safe hidden in one of the closest. There was also two bathrooms, one with toilet and sink and the main one with full size jetted tub and stand up shower and two sinks (see the pics below). The room was amazing and we barely used the loft area which has a full size couch, large TV and both couches in the room are pull out sleepers so you can have a good size family in the room and there is a large wine fridge (the kids rooms also had a wine fridge but it was smaller). Additional stuff: there is a full size pool that goes to about 5.5 feet deep and two very large hot tubs. There are two locker rooms inside and that's where the workout area is and inside the lockers rooms are dry sauna and steam rooms. The hotel has a game room on the second floor (see pics) with PS4, pool, ping pong and games. I'll review this separately, but there is only one place to eat on site and it's called EPC. As a Globalist, we all got free breakfast since we did guest of honor and we had dining credits so we ate just about everything on the menu. If I could pick a place of improvement, it would be the restaurant with more high end dishes bit overall the food and service was great. Crowds- I don't like large crowds so this place was perfect as it must have been an off weekend as it seemed like we had the hotel to ourselves at times (gave me The Shining vibes). Shuttle to park city- As you come into the hotel area, you will pass a 7-11 store and that's where the bus stop is located, so it's a bit of a walk from the hotel but you can catch the 101 or 10X into town free. I heard there is a local shuttle (110) that will also take you from 7-11 close to the hotel but still have to walk from...
Read moreWe would stay here again and look forward to the new sunrise gondola being installed this summer. Overall pros: perfect location for skiing;wonderful interactions with staff (front desk, servers, ski valet, shuttle drivers);nice amenities (hot tubs, sauna, gym); good restaurant; large comfortable suite. cons: only minor complaints
A friend and I stayed for a ski trip. I used a suite upgrade award (SUA) to book the room through my Globalist concierge for 7 nights. Breakfast in the restaurant (EPC) was complimentary (buffet or ala carte) and it was excellent. The resort fee was waived. I cannot comment on parking as I had no car.
We were very happy with all staff interactions and felt the service level was high. Housekeeping might be a weak point but we didn't need much so I can't say much about it.
We arrived early in the day so the room was not ready but we were prepared to go skiing for the day anyway.
Ski valet: We skiied out from the second floor ski storage prepping area. Everyday our skis were ready on the landing for us. We would store our shoes (crocs) in the baskets and don our boots (kept with us in the room). One day my friend noticed damage to her ski while out and on return, the ski valet offerred a waxing/tuning service overnight for a reasonable charge.
The one bedroom suite was large and in excellent condition. We hardly used the kitchen but it had everything guests need. We liked having a microwave, real dishware annd a sink to wash dishes. We did one load of laundry. The bathroom was spacious although the shower was a bit small and the showerhead just ok and no handset (which we like to have). The bedroom had adequate storage although luggage must be unpacked in the living room. The bed was too soft for me but my friend liked it. The fireplace and sofa/chairs were perfect for lounging watching TV. The dining table is great if eating a meal (cooking or takeout). The TV did not have chromecast like most hyatts (bring your own). Robes were provided but not slippers. My robe had a belt loop missing but I just ignored it and also didn't bother to ask about slippers. The gym is well equipped with weights, aerobic machines (incl. peloton bikes) and a stretching area. There's a sauna and steam room in the ladies locker room (not sure about men's) but the steam didn't appear to be working. The shower here has a handset (so one can avoid wetting hair etc.). The pool deck has multiple hottubs with various temps from hot to hotter. The restaurant offers an ala carte menu or a buffet (with made to order omelets) that changes everyday on a 3 or 4 day cycle. It offered the perfect variety for us. The dinner menu is also good although the beer on tap selection is disappointing (and we tried them all). We really enjoyed the trivia offered on Friday nights with discounted appetizers. The hotel offers a shuttle on a schedule after 5pm to Main street. Twice we took rideshare to town and then the shuttle for the return. The free town bus is...
Read moreAfter shopping and comparing dozens of hotels in Park City/Deer Valley, we chose the Hyatt Park Centric and we were so glad that we did! We reserved a Large One Bedroom residence for MLK week and it was glorious! We took a shuttle from SLC to the hotel via Canyon Transportation (5 Stars - see review). Check-in was friendly, prompt and - despite arriving early - our room was ready. Not only was it immaculate, but it was large with a prominent fireplace, jacuzzi tub, and full kitchen with a Keurig, Sub-Zero fridge, and wine chiller (not that we needed it). Masks are required everywhere, so I felt safe.
The location is ski-in (take the Retreat trail which is a sharp right coming out of the In & Out lift: take a sharp right & keep to the right until you almost see the bottom of the Sunrise lift (& ski-out if the Sunrise lift is open). The Hyatt is on the right of the lift, and you can ski into the rental shop within a few steps inside of the elevator to the rooms (see below). If you miss the turn off, you can catch the shuttle back to the hotel (if it's not there, call them and it will be there within 5 minutes!)
After unloading, we went to the 2nd floor to rent from Aloha Sports (I had reserved online to get the reduced rate as well as purchased 5-day lift tickets online). The staff was extremely personable and flexible with our requests. Every day, our skis were waiting for us out front and they would load our skis for a quick 3 min ride to the base of the Red Pine Gondola. Perfect! Also, if we didn't ski, they didn't charge us...it was a no-brainer! We received refunds of unused days (both on equipment & lift tickets, although call Vail Resorts before 5pm on the last day of your lift ticket to get the refund).
After skiing, we'd ski-in to the rental shop, go to our room to remove our boots, and go down (before 5pm) to get a bite to eat and drink to tide us over until dinner (the chili was great, but Short Rib grilled cheese and sweet potato fries was to die for! I think we had it 4 times!). Ice was available for free at the front desk.
A free shuttle* heads to Historic Park city (a $10-$15 Lyft/Uber otherwise) on the hour (5pm - 10pm) and returns on the half-hour (5:30 to 10:30pm) to the Town Hall next to the (awful) UT state liquor store. Call ahead - at least 2 hours ahead to reserve spots, but space is limited - there was only one time on a weekend when the shuttle was packed & be kind...cancel if you don't need it so there is room for others. Given the shuttle times, make restaurant reservations before you go based on driving + walking to your restaurant (wish I had known this!).
There's also a liquor/small grocery with a green awning between the hotel and the ski plaza with an OK selection (5 min walk).
Every time I called down or asked for anything, the hotel staff was amazingly helpful & prompt. I will never stay anywhere else but the Hyatt Centric when I return...
