I stayed at this hotel last week and booked it for a 2 night stay. I checked into the hotel and the staff was friendly. The hotel is lacking the proper signs and can be very confusing finding your room. This could be resolved with better signs.
The worst part of the stay was once we checked into our room. We dropped off our luggage, put items in the fridge and our items out of our suitcases and went to the Drafts Burger Bar (which was so confusing to find--back to the horrible signage) for dinner. We came back to our room and got ready for bed at about 10:30. At this point, we used the toilet for the first time and found that there was a ton of weird white things in the water and the toilet was plugged. So we called the front desk, the first thing that the employee said was that there were more toilets in the area to use. Are you kidding me? I paid for a hotel room and you're telling me I have to use a bathroom OUTSIDE of my hotel room. Now that it was 11:00 PM the maintenance guy was no longer there, she said that she would send security up to assess the situation.
The security guy working was nice and attempted to unclog the toilet with a plunger. He tried for a good 5-10 minutes before telling us that we would have to change rooms. He came back up and gave us keys to a new room. It was now close to midnight, we just wanted to go to bed. We unloaded the fridge, re-packed our items and went to the new room.
Once in the second room, before unpacking, I wanted to make sure the toilet was in working order. I flushed it and it would not stop running. My boyfriend had to take the lid off the tank and physically manipulate the toilet to make it stop. Every time the toilet flushed we had to repeat that step--ridiculous. So, again, we call the front desk and explain the issue. The bellman came up and witnessed the noise as well. Once again, we had to move rooms, now it's getting close to 1:00 AM.
We FINALLY get into a room and the toilet works, but its on a lower floor than we initially had, which at this point, we didn't care because we just wanted to go to bed.
Everything was okay, until the second night. We go to use the oven in the kitchen and the oven does not work at all. It would not heat past 100 degrees. Thank goodness we didn't plan to have anyone over and purchase a ton of food to make dinner because it would've all gone to waste not being able to use the oven. And there was no way in hell I was moving to a FOURTH room for a two night stay.
I will NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone, it was horrible. We wanted a nice two night getaway from kids and actually get some sleep and we were met with nothing but issues and not going to bed until almost 2:00 AM the first night because of failure to make sure the rooms were in working order.
This hotel needs to routinely check their rooms prior to putting guests in rooms.
The employee at the front advised she would give us a $75 credit to use at either restaurant in the hotel to "make it right". The problem is, we already went to the subpar burger place and did not have the proper attire for the other restaurant and it was out of our weekend budget for the more expensive restaurant, even with the credit. So, the credit went to waste and it was not beneficial.
It is just so frustrating to spend over $400 for a hotel and expect a nice getaway and be met with nothing but issues. We almost just packed up and went back home.
I will never visit this hotel again. DO...
Read moreAbsolute worst resort we've ever stayed at. For comparison we've stayed in resorts with Marriott, Sheraton, Hilton, Omni, and Wyndham all over the US. Originally we reviewed the Westgate in Gaitlingburg, TN that boasts of its indoor Waterpark. They promised an amazing experience in Park City since we were looking to vacation in the area anyways. Once we purchased the experience package, we booked our vacation for the end of summer.
The resort is dated and the amenities are subpar. I understand the main goal is the outdoor sports, but you purchase that separately regardless of where you stay. Our room was small and falling apart. The bathrobes provided were dirty. The showers barely had any pressure due to the nasty build up. Shower doors missing rubber so the water floods the bathroom floor and you can see the mold and mildew growth. The steam shower remotes are missing buttons making them not usable. The track in the bedroom door had to be replaced the first day because the door was stuck open. The maintenance dropped a screw that I later found while putting on my shoes. The fold out couch is old and flimsy. I've seen nicer washer and dryer units in old crumby apartments. After our experience we decided not to buy into the program.
Due to our agreement made in Gaitlingburg we had to listen to the sales pitch anyways. We explained to him why we were frustrated and not at all impressed, and he as well as another gentleman promised to upgrade our room. The older man boasted of his 20 years and his influence here. So we agreed to move our stuff into a new room. They showed us 2 of the newer upgraded rooms. Had we been given one of those rooms, our experience probably would have been different and we may have purchased. After showing us a room they promised to move us to, they took us to the lobby to get our keys. The front desk said they couldn't do that because of the upgrade. They never bothered to even ask us if we wanted to pay the difference, which we would have. Instead they made it seem like a struggle to find us a new room. It is summer and hardly anyone is here. So we asked them to just call us when they find a new room. This is when they pulled the bait and switch. We had already started packing, which at this point included our food for the week. Instead of giving us an upgraded room they just moved us into a similar dated one. It does have a little more space and the showers actually work so I'm not exactly upset with the switch. However, they lied and then dismissed us. The guy from sales even called us on the phone and apologized, saying the switch up was simply because we declined to buy at that time. We never asked to upgraded to begin with. They offered! That was a promise they made without stipulations and then they went back on their word as soon as we were out of the room. Slimey. Because of this we Wil NEVER stay at a Westgate again. Ever. I will go out of my way and gladly spend $1000s more to avoid the name. If I could get my money back and leave early I would. There are so many other resorts in the area closer to town and in better condition....
Read moreSo overall, I enjoyed my stay. But there is a lot of room for improvement..
Customer service when I arrived was wonderful, even though they were training a new front desk associate. When I got to my room I was happy with the view. It had a full kitchen, laundry, shower with steamer, jacuzzi tub, private bedroom, fireplace and balcony with a view over the pool area. I went to Edge steakhouse, it was absolutely fantastic. My server (I forget his name, maybe late 40’s or 50’s, salt & pepper hair) was absolutely wonderful. With tip it was about $200 for just me, which I thought was quite fair for the atmosphere and food. I also had a full spa day at serenity and it was lovely, the girls there were kind & attentive and my massage and facial were wonderful.
Now their room for improvement: first of all there were very few people that spoke English so getting instructions was near impossible. The marketplace listed it closes at 9 online but it was closed at 6 when I went there to get groceries for the morning. The adult only pool was closed, when I asked front desk she said no it’s open it’s just the hot tub. So I got ready and went to go the next day and it was still closed. I was told they don’t have room service but have delivery from Edge and Drafts, this was not true. I had to pickup and the bartender or front girl sitting at the bar was incredibly rude and clearly hates her job. The most annoying thing was my room was not clean. It was dusty everywhere, there was hair in the shower, butter or grease over the salt & pepper shakers and the rest of the kitchen was not as clean as it should have been. The bathroom was honestly a little gross. I mentioned this to the “supervisor” at front desk this morning around 7 am (long brown hair) and she said “yeah well we are in the middle of remodel” and I then gave details of why I felt it was unclean and she said “sure I’ll tell house keeping, do you want a receipt?” That kind of service would be unacceptable for a holiday inn nonetheless the “best resort in Utah”!! Overall it’s a little annoying because over my 2 day stay I spent $1500 at this resort and felt I was treated like a lesser guest. I would love to come back but clearly this place shouldn’t be open in off season because their quality of service drops drastically. The valet men are incredibly friendly and cordial as are every member of Edge and Serenity, but the rest needs some drastic improvements.
And I should have never been in a room that was unclean simply because they’re remodeling! I booked this months ago so it’s not like I...
