Disappointment down on The Farm.
Very disappointed at The Farm restaurant during annual stay at Vail’s Park City Resort at the Canyons Village. We made reservations online in advance for four (4) and they seated us in the bar. Not the location I would expect from making an advance reservation for four (4) adults. Plus, the restaurant’s main dining area and their yurt dining were not fully occupied during our Wednesday evening (3/16/22) arrival nor during our departure.
But the real disappointed was the meal and how their management addressed the poor kitchen’s performance. The worst of it all, was we had two (2) very poor meals. An over-cooked and dry fish of the day, and a burnt sandwich. Our waiter agreed when he saw the food and, apologized. He offered us a complimentary dessert, for two (2) only half eaten meals. We declined and requested a refund. So, his Plan B was to complement only our truffle fries. Mind you the truffle fries appetizer was very good. But wouldn’t you expect the restaurant to remove the poorly cooked items from the bill that were the issue. We respectfully declined the Plan B offer and requested he remove the items that were poorly cooked. However, he now needed to go get the manager to approve and adjust the bill. But if your manager has a table with 50% of the food delivered to your customers was un-eatable, you would think s/he would personally come to the table to acknowledge and address the poor kitchen performance to the customers who couldn’t finish their meals. Well, he never did. Plus, your manager only removed one (1) meal from the bill $200 bill.
As a restauranter, I would be embarrassed. Look food issues do happen, but to not manage it right, is unacceptable in this business. Perhaps there may be the issue of us being only seasonal customers visiting during a week of skiing, (which we visit PC every year since 2014), but reviews on Yelp, Google, TripAdvisor, etc. do have an impact on the business. Had your manager taken care of the issue with the customer, I am not sure the review would have been so poor. S/he left a bad taste in our mouths both with the food, and how...
Read moreEpic meal, six stars if I could. Best meal of our 10 day trip and the best meal at Farm in 15 years. Simply put, our server Mon and her unnamed manager combined with Chef Ben’s new menu was absolutely fabulous. Just order the farm cheese, mushroom or onion soup, coconut curry with chicken, beef cheek bourguignon, and dessert of your choice and you will thank us.
For the deep dive review readers, read on for details. First of all, it was Farm‘s 23/24 season opening night, a lot could go wrong. Additionally, it was our server Mon’s first night as well. Our night started with a big challenge for our server Mon, I had legacy Vail Mountain Money gift certificates that we had tried to use at many PARK CITY locations, to no avail, although they should work. She took on the challenge and combined with her unnamed manager, figured out how to get them to work. She is our lucky charm and hero, absolutely the best customer service experience in years.
The meal was absolutely fantastic, started with mushroom soup and Frites. The mushroom soup is incredibly well developed, rich and delicious. Frites were perfect. We moved onto coconut curry with chicken and beef cheek bourguignon which were both absolutely fantastic. Rich, stewy, delicious, perfectly seasoned, exactly what you want after enjoying knee deep blower powder on the mountain for hours. An absolutely well thought out menu perfectly executed with stellar service, what else could one want?
The only miss for us was the bread service, not bad, but not good. Served cool and was a bit dry and bland. No big deal, the meal and service were exceptional, I am still dreaming about the beef cheek bourguignon. Mon, manager and Ben – Bravo,...
Read moreMy experience here was decent and I was satisfied with the quality of the food. A 28 dollar burger was pretty steep, but this is a vacation spot so I kind of expected that. When we first got there, they had a bit of trouble finding our reservation which is exactly what happened last time. I predicted this, we had to show the email confirmation of our reservation and that still wasn’t enough to seat us. A little irritating, but we sat down. The service here was where the place shined. Our waiter was very attentive and checked on us a good amount. I sent my burger back because I ordered it medium rare and it was well done, but felt a little bad doing that since our server was all over the place as it was busy. I appreciated his effort in making our dinner good; I believe his name is Tony, but I could be wrong. He was also working the bar. The fries were good and crispy, I liked the Parmesan added. The appetizer looked beautiful, but was decent not as good as the main course for me. Convenient local spot to go if you are on the mountain; prices are a bit steep, but the food is good and the service for us was very good. Be careful about reservations because there was some confusion both times we went. A reservation shouldn’t be complicated to the point of the hostess saying oh I never seen this before let me talk to the manager. There are tables available acknowledge our confirmation and seat us. Other than that and the burger being overcooked at first, would say it was...
